My boyfriend bought a home elsewhere in CT just a few years back before relocating for a job, and his major complaint with his previous real estate lawyer was that she didn't review paperwork with him and basically just expected him to sign away. When he tried to read, the lawyer accused him of not trusting her! Crazy considering you don't normally meet your closing attorney until the closing. Her role in my case was a total joke. This big important GAL is supposed to represent my child in…read moremy divorce case. She had been appointed to my case for 6 months before she ever met my child. When she did it was ONCE for a hyper-prepped, unrealistic 1-hour visit. My case was extremely involved, lots of exhibits, lots of witnesses. She sat on her laurels for months and months, doing next to nothing. All the while I'm receiving invoices. You had to spoon feed everything to her, and even still, it was like she sat with the information in her mouth, waiting for someone chew and digest it for her. I think she's very clever, but not for the reasons one would expect. She's actually managed to secure a high paying, respected position by doing as little work as humanly possible. I think she went on 5 vacations throughout my case. But it all made sense at the end. Come to find out the almighty expert - the GAL, representative for the minor child - doesn't even have children herself. This explains why she was polite enough and full of smiles but boldface clueless. Also explains why she was always away 'out of town'. When she wasn't getting paid hundreds/hr to sign off on things on behalf of the best interest of kids, she was enjoying the freedoms of a kid-free lifestyle. Very strange. She also gave testimony that was misleading. She claimed something extremely damaging (that was true and provable) did not happen on a bizarre technicality that when asked about said incident, the relevant wording was paraphrased instead of quoted. Such a lowball move. Oh, and one of the concerns involved the other party not feeding my son (who is tube fed) and I found out that Pam was playing devil's advocate by questioning whether or not all of the feedings were necessary or equally important (even though they are medically prescribed as such) because some were run at different periods in the day and over different periods of time. She doesn't know that I know that, but I do and that's got to be the most crooked, unmotherly logic I've ever heard. If she's going to be in law, fine. But stick with personal injury or something. Don't be the representative for a child where all your experience is text book. Appalling.
