After a long day of seeing examples of French enamel from 1200 AD to today, we walked in to see only one person in this restaurant. We asked if it was open and he said, "just wait a few more minutes for the waiter!" He sat us down, poured wine for our weary souls, and retreated. When the waiter did arrive, he brought a complementary plate of bullots-delicious! The swordfish wrapped in a banana leaf was tender and perfect. The artichoke and fennel salad accompanied the mackerel-- beautiful and delicious. As we were wrapping up, the gentleman we first met came out to the table--- he was the chef!! We asked about something we saw at another table and he brought out an avocado tower topped with lobster, swimming in a sea foam of green tomato sauce. It was delicate and scrumptious! Better than dessert! Even as the restaurant filled up, they were attentive and nice. Three meals were 52euros and that included a great Sauvingnon Blanc--- would have been double back home. read more
