I have a bad habit of setting vague, yet high expectations of things, and our wedding photography experience was certainly subject to this. Three Region Photography delivered and excelled in ways I couldn't have imagined. My wife and I got married at a farm thirty minutes outside of town about a little more than three weeks ago (we already have our photos, by the way). A short ceremony started at 3:30 in the afternoon, and a reception followed that sprawled all across the vast venue space on the property. Let me list just a few of the obvious challenges that this posed to our photographers: 1) From a photography standpoint, a short ceremony means there isn't a ton of time to find good angles and composition before the vows, rings, and first announcement. 2) That's a lot of space for two people to cover, and when the bride, groom, wedding party, and families are floating all over the farm, you have to make decisions about where to be at what times, risking missing something somewhere else. 3) In mid afternoon, the sun is shining through the trees on the foreground (and often uninhibited on the background) of every scene you look at. The contrast that this creates often leads to images that draw your eyes to the background, or some oddly lit object off to the side. My point is that it couldn't have been easy, but the beauty of the product that Three Region Photography delivered to us cannot be overstated. When I take a picture of something, I look at it later and simply say, "Oh yeah, that happened." When I went through the album that Jessica sent to us, the feelings, emotions, and sensations from each moment returned to me as clearly as if I'd been transported back. In the shoots that we did together, Jessica gave us a sense of comfort necessary to capture those intimate moments. She's hysterical, talented, has outstanding instincts, and will work long hours to make sure her clients get photos that are more than colorful rectangles. They are little portals back to those experiences.

As Jon O. said, the place they put you to take the pictures was junky, but they did a pretty good job with the pictures. Some complaints were putting her with a white bunny while sitting on a white chair; no contract. Because of trouble with her being still, she looked pretty stupid in some of the pictures. My main complaint though is with how misleading they were about pricing. We were quoted a price by phone of $29.95 for the sitting and 2 pictures, then each additional sheet was to be $10, which is pretty high. When we went to pay, we were charged $39.95, which didn't sit well with us, and then told each additional sheet was $20. At that point, we just paid the $29.95 and left. Since then, we have left 2 or 3 voicemails, actually spoke with someone who told us the manager would call us back, but she/he never did, and I've emailed them through their website AND Facebook. Here it is, almost Christmas, and we have yet to be contacted in any way. The one time any of us got to speak with a human, we were just told that those prices had never been quoted to us. Really? $20 a sheet? Are they insane? JC Penneys took the baby's pictures last Christmas and we paid $3 or $4 a sheet and they were better pictures. I won't say who it is, but even my dentist told me they were too high. That was after the fact!

They will do anything you ask and they get some of the best shots because of it. During the engagement session,…read moreJennifer was very professional and when we saw the pictures we were very pleased with the results. The wedding session, though, was a completely different matter. The experience was horrible. Jennifer showed a complete lack of professionalism and was obviously un-prepared for the wedding. She started by showing up over 2 hours late and because of that did not capture any photographs of the groomsmen getting ready and missed the bridesmaids getting their hair and make-up done. In a prior meeting, Jennifer said she would go to the venue the week of the wedding at the time of the ceremony to determine the best places to shoot based on the lighting and background. This was not done. She did not go to the venue at the time of the wedding and she had no idea what the lighting was at the time of our ceremony. She was completely unprepared. She didn't even have a set list of pictures to take (even though we provided her a list the morning of the wedding). And because of that, she did not capture a lot of the family pictures we wanted. She was visibly upset during the session and her stress carried over to the guests. Since our wedding 2 months ago, we have had numerous people (people not in the wedding party) comment on the photographer and the obvious stress that she was causing. When we approached Jennifer with our feedback there was no attempt to try to reimburse or accommodate for the poor quality of work. This is probably the reason she requires a complete up front payment of the money, prior to performing the work. The actual pictures themselves are of poor quality (grainy, out of focus, and poorly framed). Weddings are a once in a lifetime thing and we can never get those moments back. If we could do it all over again, we would NOT have hired Jennifer. It honestly would have been better if friends did the photography. At least then the guests would not have been stressed and we could have followed a set list to ensure we got all of the necessary photos.

The photos we've seen thus far of our wedding have been phenomenal and beyond what I was expecting. I gave Danielle a few ideas of some shots I wanted and told her that I pretty much hated posed shots and wanted more candid photos. Boy, did she deliver! She caught little moments that I loved about my wedding. My husband hates having his picture taken and he was so surprised at these pictures. He said, "I didn't even see her for that." Danielle just worked the room without anyone even knowing and caught such amazing moments on photo. We had a deal since we only had 1 photographer rather than both Danielle and Shaun.
