Do not sleep on the biscuits here. The savory fontina and parm biscuit is huge and is just divine once they warm it up for you. Big cheese flavor and just slightly crisp corners. It is a very tender biscuit, not at all a flaky-style biscuit, and it is bomb. Donuts are also okay, but maybe not worth the price. I liked that the filled donuts used whipped cream as a base rather than custard to keep it lighter, but the dough just did not work for me. read more

I was in the middle of a time gap for an event I was attending (Pokémon Go Fest) and had a few hours before the second part started. Coffee and or doughnuts were in order and I was in Cap Hill so I whipped out Yelp to see what was on my bookmarks for such a thing. This very fine doughnut shop showed up closest to me and so I headed over their way. The shop is pretty small and it's not really a place where you can stretch out and relax but there is some seating. But all that becomes unimportant once you discover how good their doughnuts are. I kind a Chai flavored Old Fashioned doughnut and it was simply magical. Revising my review because I finally got here during normal hours. I walked in and it was pretty quiet at 2pm in the afternoon on a Sunday. They had a lot of stock unlike last time I came so I could actually choose a donut. I didn't know what to choose though so after I was warmly greeted I asked for a recommendation. They recommended the Georgette, a cinnamon donut. It was $4.80, which is a little pricey for a donut but at least it was large (I'd say around 1.5X as large as a normal round donut). I took it home to eat and it was very, very delicious. Very soft and very tasty cinnamon flavor. I scarfed it down. Overall happy to say my experience was good with friendly service, good options, and great donuts. Just a little pricey, but that's kind of standard nowadays. read more

Small little donut shop and I've heard great things but I would say they were just OK. I love a good donut...especially a good old fashioned donut. Came here on a Tuesday and they only had old fashioned donuts, not sure if this is normal. The lemon donut was pretty good, soft but no crunch on the crust which I like. Oppositely, the Mexican hot chocolate was very crunchy on the outside and not super fluffy inside. Not the worst by any means but not my favorite donut place. These are not just donuts, they are an experience. I'm glad I got the chance to try these with my hubs before the pandemic put Seattle into shelter in place. It was so nice to sit at the window counter with the sun shining down and a beautiful bouquet of flowers next to us as we ate our incredibly rich and well-made donuts. These donuts are more like desserts so plan accordingly. We loved the cinnamon twist ring (there's a name for it, I think Georgette?) and the bananas foster filled donut. Amazing! We also tried the old-fashioned which was very light with a slightly odd aftertaste. We didn't dig it as much because we like a more heavy, cake-style old-fashioned. I've been coming here a few times a week for a couple years now. Some of my favorite coffee on the hill and definitely my favorite selection of treats. They offer savory and sweet options which is a must for me. Any of their tropical flavored donuts are amazing but my favorite right now has to be their incredible mochi donuts(way better than the chain ones in my opinion). The employees are very sweet and make an effort to remember you if you come in regularly. Can't recommend it enough! read more

Even though their doughnuts are highly recommended per reviews, don't go there early because you will get raw doughnuts. I'm so disappointed to see that they bagged me a raw doughnut. The lamination on the cronut could have been better but it was good. The shining star was the nutty pistachio filling. I wish Yelp allowed for half-stars. I would give 3-1/2. Tried this donut spot for the first time last week and had a pretty good overall experience. We both had stuffed donuts. I was surprised that they don't make the donuts onsite, but buy them elsewhere. The crepes and bubble waffles seem to be made on premise. My donut did not taste fresh at all (and was not warmed to make it softer), but the butter pecan ice cream inside it was excellent. The service was friendly, although the employees behind the counter did not refrain from having a lot of personal conversation, which could be a little awkward for customers having their ice cream in the very small shop. But thankfully they didn't use any foul language or talk about anything young children shouldn't overhear. They also forgot the Twix topping on my husband's donut sundae. We'd give this place another try, but maybe for the bubble waffle or crepe--or just plain ice cream. read more

When I saw there was a new doughnut shop in town from the co-owner of Top Pot I had to visit! So as soon as I found out I had an appointment on Capitol Hill in the AM, I made a trip to Half and Half Doughnut. Get here early, as they close at 2PM. I learned the hours soon after I saw their site, so I could coordinate when I would be in the area. I walked in on a Tuesday morning and the place just smelled delicious, a requirement for all wonderful bakeries! There is no seating inside, as this shop serves to be a takeout for donuts and a full espresso menu. But there were a few tables outside. Plan accordingly. Staff was very friendly and happy to help. All of the doughnuts are displayed in the case, with seasonal items like, a pumpkin old fashioned doughnut to an apple pie fritter. But I had my eye on the s'mores! I love all things s'mores flavored, so I had to get one of these bad boys, which is a s'mores stuffed doughnut with chocolate and marshmallow and marshmallow fluff on top with graham cracker crumbs. I also got a cherry bomb doughnut, another stuffed doughnut that's covered in chocolate with Washington cherries and cream. And of course, I ordered three old fashioneds: pumpkin chocolate, chai tea, and pumpkin spice. There is no discounted/set price for a dozen; however, you do get 10% off for a dozen. Otherwise, donuts are priced a la carte. Once I got home my friends and I shared the doughnuts and I was surprised by what I liked the best. I thought I was gonna love the s'mores-filled doughnut, but the texture of the dough was a tad too dry/stiff. Once I bit more into the doughnut though, to really get a taste of the filling, the texture of the doughnut was much better. Yet, the same sitch was for the cherry bomb doughnut, which is also stuffed. The texture was dry. But the old fashioned doughnuts were delicious! The texture was soft, moist and loved the different flavors of all three that I ordered. But being a huge chocolate person, I loved the thick dark chocolate smothered on the pumpkin old fashioned! I was really pleased to hear there was a new doughnut place in Capitol Hill and have already been here a couple of times. It is a small place that can be difficult to find. The first time I came was around 11:45 and was told they ran out of fritters around thirty minutes early. I ended up getting a churro doughnut, a Mexican hot chocolate doughnut, and a chai. The doughnuts are excellent. The churro one had a really nice flavor to it and was sprinkled perfectly, but I loved the chocolate one that had a really unique but rich flavor to it. The chai was good also. For the second trip, I made sure to get there by 9am and ordered the apple fritter. The fritter flavors apparently rotate (on last visit they had maple fritters). I am so glad I came back, the fritter was excellent. The dough was great, it was not fried too much like some fritters, then it had chunks of real apple in it. It was absolutely delicious. They also have one that is coated with caramel sauce that I will need to try the next time. read more

Though the name of the stop is "half and half" I did not only eat half a donut I was in the area after having brunch and I heard about this place so I decided to take a friend and go. From the first observation, you can tell this is a small place. At particular time, you could see that with a couple people on line, it would go outside of the door. The space doesn't have chairs on the inside and wouldn't be the ideal place to stand and gaze lovingly outside the window as the city life goes by. If you were to look in the opposite direction, you would see the glass stand with all the goodies inside. As this place opens at 6 am and closes at 2 pm, I wasn't surprised to see that some of the treats were done or close to it. The line went fast for me and my friend. I ordered the bananas foster bomb (a munchkin or donut hole) and a churro donut. (I didn't eat half like I promised you at the beginning). Would I have tried the breakfast sandwich or coffee if I had not eaten brunch just some minutes before... potentially. We went outside with our food and sat at the seats outside. I would imagine that in the summer, this would be a great location to drink some coffee and pop some good donuts at the same time. But in November though... we had random drizzles during the 30 minutes we sat eating there. So in not optimal weather, eat it on the go or at home if you live nearby. On the upside, we did see a lot of dogs so if you are into #pupperwatch this would be a prime location. (puppy pics not included because privacy) In terms of the donuts, the bananas foster bomb tastes like actual bananas foster (without nearly singeing your eyebrows off when it gets flambéd) and was a cute little treat. I would be eager to try the big version. As for the churro, it came with a LOT of sugar. Each bite came with sugar falling on me. So if you have an outfit that would not do well with an explosion of sugar, try this for a different time. Overall it was good but I did prefer the bomb. A little known secret about me is I'm obsessed with donuts. I really really enjoy them and I would eat them everyday if I could without consequence. Half and Half Doughnut Co has been on my list of donut shops here in Seattle to try. We happen to walk in right as they put a nice row of fresh glazed raspberry old fashions on the shelf, so I had to order one of those. I also ordered a black and white chocolate donut and a cream filled donut as seen in the pictures. The women working the counter was extremely nice and provided great service. She was kind enough to warn me that the raspberry old fashion was just glazed and might be very messy. The box they use for the donuts was a perfect sized box for 3-4 and was decently durable. Now for the taste test. The donuts were all good, the raspberry was sweet and the glaze was practically melting off because of how fresh. The black and white was a solid choice and a very classic taste. The cream filled I didn't care much for but my wife loved it. The reason I rate 4/5 is because I have an ongoing debate about donuts here in Seattle....most of them taste the same. They are not ever really soft and are all neutral between firm/hard. I prefer softer donuts. I won't drop other donut shop names as comparisons because I want you all to try all the shops yourself. But hey!! They are really good donuts. Wow! We tried the Bananas Fosters Filled Bismark and the Pomegranate Old Fashioned and both were so good! They were just the right level of sweetness that we didn't feel too overwhelmed with it and the flavors were so different that donuts/pastries that I've had before. All the filled ones were so light, airy and creamy. The Blueberry Fritter is a seasonal item and was recommended by the bakery and it was crispy and blueberries so fresh they burst in your mouth! The donut itself had a bit of a crunch and not too strong of a chocolate flavor, but it went well with the glaze and drizzle. Def want to come back and get it again. What a cute new spot on the hill. Loved the decor, packaging, and most of all ...the warm welcome my daughter and I received. We spent way too much, but the donuts we're good.
