Given the quality of everything else, I'm guessing it was good. I did eat some of it. The people serving were very kind.

The sauce, bread and curd made a brilliant combo and there was also a slice of potato a chili and a tomato. This is the first time I have ever felt like yogurt added anything to a dish. It was so good. The raki was awesome. The waiter insisted I add some water to it and he definitely knew best, it was sharp. And then it turned white! It is an anise liquor, like a jaegermeister, and I was glad I tried it. We ate in the semi outside seating which is always such a highlight in Istanbul. We had seen this place while walking back to our hotel, and decided to go to try. We are so glad that we did. While the sign outside read "Beso," the menu, and other signs read "Byzantion" so I'm thinking the first is a shortened form of the second. And it is inside the Glorious Hotel. There's any rate, we ventured in, and soon found ourselves seated in a white table, cloth, covered dining room, with a table, right by the window. We were a little early for the dinner crowd, but a long day of touring had left us hungry early. The menu was, as expected, filled with variety. While my wife opted for the Mediterranean chicken shish, I had spotted penne Arrabiata on the menu, and that is a personal favorite. I gave it a try, and was not disappointed. my wife's chicken was excellent as well. The service was first-rate, and the ambience was very enjoyable. The friendliness of the staff was not unusual for Turkey, but was greatly appreciated. If you are looking for a meal away from your hotel, or just a chance to enjoy some thing beyond Mediterranean cuisine, I would highly recommend this establishment.

The owner and his staff were able to cater to our taste buds and ask the right questions. They also offered tastings of wine pairings to ensure it met our taste and expectations. We ordered the fish platter, the meat platter (specially catered to us) and a fresh shepherds salad. The portions are generous and we enjoyed every bite of it! To end our dinner, they offered us apple tea and baklava, which was a perfect sweet ending. To add to it, this restaurant also offers hooka/shisha so it was perfect on a nice outdoors seating to our evening. They prepared a special flavour which was watermelon and grape and it was perfect. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant for any tourists that want an authentic Turkish cuisine. Also, very good for those with gluten intolerance - lots of options, Started with excellent sour dough bread - super crunchy (almost burnt) on the outside, and soft (nearly gooey on the inside) to soak up some peppery olive oil and very tart goat cheese. This was followed by a salad with thinly sliced winter fruit (apples, pears?), beets, and some berries (looked like blueberries without the flavor) and some things that looked like lentils but could have been mung beans (whatever, they were good). This was followed by octopus that was grilled with a pomegranate molasses, which made them a tad too soft and a bit boring, but nontheless well cooked. It was followed by grilled calamari that was nicely charred. The baby radishes were liked by some and not others. The sausage was like N'duja sausage in square logs that was sauteed. It was tasty (obliviously) but a bit too oily. It came with some mashed potatoes and the tartest/pickles ever. Odd combo. The two Turkish wines were tasty and satisfying.
