When I hear the term "food court" I generally shudder with horrific thoughts of mall or office park food courts. Hala Koszyki is an epicurean, modern, super-cool food hall. Everyone from vegans to carnivores can find great food under one nice roof at Hala Koszyki. We especially liked the craft beer and food at Kielba w Gebie (serving traditional Polish food) We stayed at the Marriott (about a 10 minute walk from Hala Koszyki). Free WiFi

This is a modern, revitalized and stylish place. It is a kind of a food court with a number of restaurants and bars. It is a bit noisy, especially on weekends. However, there's a nice atmosphere.

It's a Food Hall, one situated in an old covered market, thats been quite wonderfully renovated. There are restaurants (eat in), beer-halls, bars, food stalls, casual dining, fine dining, cocktails, beers, and cuisine in every form - indian, polish, spanish/tapas, burgers, burritos, sushi, italian, heck, you name it, it's here. You've also got little nooks to hang out in, shared/communal tables for the "take-out" stuff, places to just hang out and chat, free wi-fi, and so forth - in short, everything you need to easily spend the best part of an evening, and not notice the time go by...

Reminiscent of Mercado de San Miguel in Madrid, Hala Koszyki is a great space. More than just a shopping center, this place is a gathering place. Bar Koszyki is a the center of the main floor, with table surrounding it on both sides. Along the outer walls there are mostly restaurant, with a variety of other shops selling books, gourmet candies, and organic selections. Restaurants are a variety of food-court style counters, and sit-down establishments that will probably require reservations on prime evenings. The selection is vast: sushi, burgers, fish & chips, tacos, tapas, and so much more. My friends and I finally made our first visit to Hala Koszyki after one my middle school students recommended it. This location is relatively family friendly in the early hours of the evening. As the night goes on, I would say it is more bar - appropriate for the after work crowd. We started the evening with a bottle of prosecco from the bar - complete with bucket of ice, we carried it upstairs to a small seating area that was a little more intimate and suitable for our girls' night get together. First course was fish & chips - though I went for calamari from Port Royal. The calamari was excellent - breaded, large pieces including tentacles (my favorite), lemon, and aioli which was perfect. It was a nice opener. Second course included tacos from Gringo Bar/Salsowina. I wasn't a huge fan of the chorizo taco, but the shredded beef and chicken, and the gringo chicken tacos were tasty. We liked the mango salsa that topped some of the tacos. I was tempted to go for Indian from Curry Leaves, because the smell was AMAZING, and it wafted up to our table all evening, tempting me... but in the end we went for tacos. In true Polish fashion, I went for ice cream (even in winter) at Magia d'Italia Gelati Caffe. Can I just say czarna porzeczka? Perfect. While waiting for tacos (the wait was a bit long) I ventured into the book shop, and came out with a book on mushrooms. I'm planning a few hiking trips, and wouldn't it be good to have this hand 6.99zl reference book. Can't complain about that! Live music was playing the particular evening we visited, and the vibe in this place was great. It's probably good that I don't live closer, because I would come here far too often. Don't forget to check out the upper level galleries, and the lower level shops. There's a lot going on at Hala Koszyki, and it's definitely a place worth checking out - for locals and visitors alike!

Meat Heaven!!!

I love Polish sausage...they always remind me of home. I actually live in London and since there's an abundance of Polish Sklep all over that city - but no German butcher really - I always opt for the Polish sausage. (Psst, don't tell the Poles, but they are actually quite similar to the German ones ;-) Anyway, when I was in Warsaw I decided to stock up on meaty treats from the motherland. And when I happened to walk by Hala Koszyki on my way back to the hotel, I decided to make a mental bookmark to return the next day before heading back to the airport...and so I did. Even though there's a butcher on the downstairs floor as well, I actually got my sausage and hams from the little stall on the first floor. The guy behind the counter was really nice and really praised his sausages; he let me taste everything and so I ended up buying everything that he made me try - because they were really that good. (So glad they don't have the sleuth dogs at inner-European airports anymore - they would have definitely betrayed my goods upon entering the UK). It's a hipster/yuppie place, so probably quite overpriced...but I liked it nevertheless.

This place is amazing. The aromas from the many restaurants is incredible. Playing some chill music and visually very cool. Just a nice place to relax, eat and drink. With all the great options I paired some Ramyum, mix of Pierogi's and a great Polish sweet IPA w a donut. So good.

There are more of these opening around the world like the ferry building in San Francisco or the Elliot Stables in Auckland or the papiroin Copenhagen. The concept is to find a large space in a neighborhood undergoing gentrification. Put in common sitting areas and fill with restaurants serving high quality food. This place takes it a bit further by having central bars for gathering around the dining tables, fancy sit down restaurants in addition to the more rustic and regional choices usually available. It also has plenty of both indoor and outdoor space catering to the weather options. It's somewhat on the pricey side but I would happily return. I only sampled the Spanish tapas place for dinner and wine. Would love to try more.

The architecture of this place is amazing, all held in glass including the ceiling (poor chap who has to clean here..). Other than that, this is like any other big mall. Situated right next to the central train station, there is a lot of traffic of course. The food court has literally everything. We were craving burritos and guess where we found them? ;) In addition, no big chain is missing. Starting from the usual suspects like H&M, the mall also offers bigger and more expensive chains. So everyone should be able to find something. Also, the bathrooms are amazing, in case you didn't want to go at the train station on a quick layover (yep. exactly what I did. and they are free, unlike the ones at the station!). I heard, in summers they even offer fitness courses outside. Just in case. All in all, a nice place to visit in Warsaw, especially if you are at the centrail station anyways. You can find anything from food to clothes to an apteka. Visit!

The food court is also surprisingly good with food from all over the world available here at cheap prices. I love how there's even a supermarket here. Staff are all very friendly too. Definitely a place to check out when in the city centre.

Shopping time! You can find kids store, sport clothes (e.g. Nike, Adidas, Rebook, Puma...), a couple of kitchen accessories stores, winter gear, men and women shoes and a few American or Western European clothing brands (e.g. Mango, Lacoste). As expected from any outlet, some stores have excellent assortment while others have little options in size or color. But hey... We are there to find bargains right? Mango quality was far from expected and a big disappointment. The quality was far behind the clothes you see on the regular store. Adidas and Nike had great assortment. The running shoes were excellent and almost half from regular price. Highly recommended. If you are not married to a shoe brand, I can recommend trying polish brand formal and casual shoes. We bought a couple and we are very happy with the style and quality. Also he price is much better than American or Western European brands. Food options somehow limited, but So Coffee can be a good break to get some caffeine to continue shopping. Sphinx restaurant is available. We did not have food there but could be an option. It opens sharply at 10AM. We arrived at opening and had an amazing experience. Zero queues and great attention. But by noon you could feel the crowd. So early birds have an advantage!! Happy shopping!

Accessed easily by tram or subway (M1-Centrum), this is where you can panic-shop clothes and other things you might need at H&M/Reserved/Zara/House/Cropp/C&A/TKMaxx/Marks&Spencer, buy groceries at Carrefour, go to Rossmann, Sephora or Empik. There's a Green Café Nero here and if you go to the back, you'll find several restaurants, fast food chains and a Starbucks. The only problem is of course that if you really do want to shop here, it's kind of annoying to have to go in and out of stores all the time, there are always crowds walking up and down the street, it's really windy for most of the time and the selection of brands is far from being Warsaw's finest. But for last minute, spontaneous or unplanned shopping, this place is great. Fun facts: * you can enter the Carrefour (which is located below the ground) in three different ways - through the same entrance as Rossmann has, through the men's section at H&M or through the back door located across the boardwalk from Ceska restaurant. * If you just want to buy alcohol, enter the Carrefour store through H&M's men's section or through the back door, don't take the northern entrance shared with Rossmann as you'll have to walk through the entire store to get to the alcohol section which is separated from the rest of the store and has its own cash register * Marks&Spencer also has an alcohol section; they sell all kinds of wine as well as beer * The H&M is a lot better than it looks and in my humble opinion, this one is a lot better than the H&M store in Zlote Tarasy
