And I was embarrassed of certain areas of my hair. And every time I would try and give a hairstylist a chance, they would say mean things to me or make me feel even more insecure than I was already feeling. And I gave up on going to the salons. I had lost all trust and faith in hairstylist. But during the pandemic I decided to grow my hair out. Not only was I tired of having to maintain the pixie cut, I just wanted something different. During my transition of growing my hair out I decided to wear braids and this was when I met Brittany. I had began to get my hair braided by Ms. Kandy and while I'm the chair Brittany came in and introduced herself and gave me her card and said to come see her when I was ready to wear my hair. Her sister (who is the owner of Amaka's International Hair Salon) was very nice as well. She too came in a talked me and made me feel comfortable and I felt at home. Anyways, once my hair had reached a length I was okay with wearing out, I did just that. I stepped out on faith and made an appointment with Brittany. She and her sister were so welcoming, I had to go back. I have several areas of my hair that needed some love, and Brittany did just that. She nursed my hair back to life. My first appointment she asked a lot of questions and made me feel extremely comfortable. By the time I made my appointment, my hair had grown out and I was now relaxer free and Not once did Brittany make me feel like it was impossible for me to stay natural. But instead She's always giving me good hair tips on how to maintain my natural hair in between appointments. Brittany is always polite, she's ALWAYS on time, and I'm always her priority while I'm in her chair. I absolutely love my hair and Brittany have renewed my faith in hairstylist. Be sure to double check the amount before check out. ### I unfortunately left disappointed after a decent first experience in the salon. They quoted me initially during a consultation for 3 hours from 1-4pm. When I arrived for my appointment, my stylist took me 20min after my appointment time started as she was busy with another customer. We ended the appointment at 4:22 and I assumed it would still be 3 hours given the delayed start. The receptionist pulled the price up to have the stylist confirm. The stylist shrugged and said "we started a bit late but that's fine." Then I saw the price and they added a full hour to the total price. After tip, it was over $460. Given it was my first time I felt overwhelmed and didn't say anything and cause a scene. I regret not speaking up in the moment. However I don't recommend people go here as they may do the same to you. I won't be returning.

It wasn't until after she stuck me under the dryer for an hr so she could take care of some personal problems, before she told me the store only had 18 in. After 2 twist were installed I immediately told her the hair was to long. She cut the hair but it was still to long. After taking a break and waiting on her to "pop out" she asked if I wanted it shorter only to tell me if she cut it anymore, I would look like a Lion. I told her to take the hair out and I left the salon. I spent my whole Saturday there and got nothing. Then she had the audacity to ask me to pay her. I already paid an $80 deposit and gave her an additional $60 for my wash and condition. I'm so disappointed, this was suppose to be my bday hair and she messed it up. When he was done, it was still partially wet and not straight at all. I asked him to dry it straight, so then he went back and kept drying it (this time, employing a different strategy, which I was doubtful about but I decided to trust the process), but it was still very frizzy and had visible waves when he was done. It clearly wasn't going to get any better so I said thanks and left, but I truly think it's because he hasn't had practice with my hair type. Last night I slept with a silk bonnet on, and despite that I woke up this morning and it is very wavy and super thick and frizzy. It looks incomplete (like it was partially blow dried but never finished. Which is lowkey what happened). I'm also noticing now that the hair is uneven length on each side.
