This is where you want to go. Period. This is the most genuine salon I've even been to. The owner is amazingly helpful, friendly and trusting. She is great to chat with, although she can be a tiny bit to understand with her accent. She really prides herself on her work, and does a quality job. Prices are really really good for La Jolla, and she offers deals to returning customers and referrals, which is something you don't see often. I called to make an appointment for a consultation for hair extensions and asked only two general questions (what type of hair and extension application they offer because I'm only interested in Great Lengths and general price range for two bundles). The lady on the phone kept interrupting me, refused to answer any of my questions and had the audacity to tell me I wasn't serious about wanting extensions and hung up on me. BEWARE!!! The owner, Francoise says she trained under Vidal Sassoon ! I DOUBT THAT VERY MUCH!! Look at my last review and get the real scoop on this place! I gave it 5 stars so it would be posted but the review will tell you how she burnt my hair to a crisp, cut my hair with sissors that resembled those sold in arts and crafts store and cut my long new hair off just above my ear! Her license is hung so high you can't read it and with good reason - she doesn't have a Cosmotology license or any other kind of license required by the state of california to protect people like me (and you) from being a VICTIM of someone who is operating against the law. The photos on her site (all three girls) were picked up on the internet. If you want to see a real photo of her work, look at the blonde with the turqoise dress and you see how thin and stringy the extensions are. That woman actually told me she losses hair from the extensions and knows there are bald spots on her head BUT... FRANCOISE ATTACHES THE HAIR IN DIFFERENT SPOTS SO THE BALD SPOTS GROW IN!! She specializes in 8 different kinds of extensions and making blonde goddesses! I previously lived in LA and was used to true Hollywood hair, however since moving to Del Mar my hair began to look gold, was breaking off and overall looked bad and was unflattering to my skin tone. This is salon to to go to. The owner is so nice. I had the unfortunate experience of having a stroke at 43 years old, five months ago. I have not had my hair done in about 10 months. My hair was nothing but a rats nest. When I was in hospital for two months, I barely brushed it. She took 4 hours to clean up the rats nesta and bring back to health, each hour asking if I was ok and if I needed anything. I was so nervous getting my hair done for first time following stroke but atmosphere was pleasant and she was very attentive. Then at the end, she gave me a discount. I just couldn't believe it. I would so recommend her to everyone. Especially those who may be disabled and afraid to go out and get their hair done again. It's so worth it!!!! read more

'WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE"...Before I begin, allow me to humbly apologize for writing the review I wrote quite some time ago. I did everyone a grave injuustice. I had just met the owner Francoise who asked me to write a favorable review to help her.She had just touched up my roots & sewed in a weft-nothing major. I wrote a flamboyant exaggerated review & this is a true account of what happened almost 1yr.later.I couldn't make this up if I wanted to! Loud, non-stop talking & a very heavy Carribean accent, bigger than life, Francoise raves about Great Lengths but I'd had a bad experience with G/Lso so she talked me into wefts to prevent damaging my hair & I liked the way tapes looked so I decided on tapes on the top of my head & wefts on the bottom.SHE TOLD ME SHE STUDIED WITH VIDAL SASSOON & WAS AN INTERNATIONAL HAIRSTYLIST. First she colored my UNDAMAGED light blonde hair. She asked for the formula from my previous colorist & I gave it to her. Then SHE ASKED ME TO GO TO HER BEAUTY SUPPLY PLACE IN ENCINITAS & ACTUALLY BUY THE PRODUCTS!!! I Ipaid $69 for products,my hair turned orange & Francoise blamed the formula -panic'd & PAINTED HIGH VOLUME BLEACH ALL OVER MY ALREADY OVERPROCESSED 'ORANGE' HAIR & PUT ME UNDER A HOT HAIR DRYER!! MY HAIR BROKE OFF ALMOST IMMEDIATELY! Next wefts,sewed them on, then sewed tapes onto the wefts for volume but were much too heavy pulling my hair out. Next tapes way too high on top of my head trying to hide the breakage but they were so high, I had no hair to cover them except a small tuft of hair Francoise said tease the tuft of hair but it was ricidulously impossible...At 2:30 in the morning, from all the tension & incessent talking (Francoise never stops talking), I thought we were finished as I sat calmly. Then, WITH FRANCOISE STILL TALKING, SHE SUDDENLY TAKES SIZZORS THAT LOOK LIKE LARGE ART &CRAFT SIZZORS FROM 'MICHAELS' & CHOPS OFF THE ENTIRE RIGHT SIDE OF ALL MY NEW EXTENSION HAIR UP TO MY EAR LOBE!!! I WENT NUTS!!! She didn't know what to do. She did it in a split second!!!One giant cut with those big sizzors & the side of my head had all the beautiful hair chopped off where my ear lobe ended!!! Looking at the beautiful hair all over the floor, I started screaming "WHAT DID YOU DO??" -"YOU RUINED MY NEW HAIR!!" She was sorry & said she'd fix it claiming she thought I wanted a 'wave' on that side of my head'! How can someone trained by Vidal Sassoon cut hair with art & craft giant sizzors with one blunt CHOP??So far I'd spent $900 down,$500 weft hair,$150 color,$250 tip. Back next day-take off tapes too high on head, tapes hurt too, put in crooked-redone, she replaced expensive tapes she had chopped off.- 3rd day,back again,more pain-crooked tapes pulling my hair out removed..Afraid to have her cut my hair after she CHOPPED THE HAIR ON THE SIDE OF MY HEAD WITH CRAFT SIZZORS, I went elsewhere (pd.$125 & they had 4 tapes fall out in their hands-fixed for me but did bad cut.Back to Francoise-replace weft hair to make long because of bad cut (wasted my good hair had paid $500 for).This time she used some of her tapes to fix & I paid $80 for more tapes. My hair breaking off terribly from overbleach (almost can't cover extensions!) - deperate I go to a good salon & have keratin treatment for damage from Francoise $250 & $175 for color correct. (They say I have cheapest silicone treated hair! & the weight of the double tapes Francoise sewed onto the wefts is pulling my hair out! Shocked!!) So far, I've paid $2,499 for service,hair, corrections & more all because of Francoise's work. After 4 mos. hair is a tangled dried out mess - have to comb it every 20 mins./wash upright combing shampoo through or else impossible!!! Hair is thinning-bottom weft no hair left! Tell Francoise I'm upset I have silicone treated hair! Acts like no big deal says Great Lengths is No.1. Not what she told me when I started this nitemare & she took my money! She told me I was getting the BEST HAIR! I trusted her! Now she says 'I told you you can't color that hair - can't color silicone. As simple as that she makes a statement about not coloring silicone hair BUT DOESN'T DARE ADDRESS THE FACT THAT SHE SOLD ME CHEAP SILICONE TREATED HAIR THAT ONCE THE COATING WEARS OFF, ALL THE HAIR CUTICLES GO WILD IN EVERY DIRECTION LEAVING YOU WITH A TANGLED DULL MESS THAT YOU CAN'T COMB AS IT SHEDS BEFORE YOUR VERY EYES! You're probably wondering why I didn't stop this madness sooner. I felt I was too into the investment.But never again! I'm writing this to help others.Like Joan Rivers,we all have nothing to hide-we're all human & if this helps just 1 person,I did a good deed! My hair in photo is NOT WORK OF HAIR SENSATIONS-that looked like I had a broom on my head - at least that's what all the salons I went to said it looked like!!!
