Aman was the one who did my eyebrows. While leaning back on the chair, I was quite nervous since my previous threading experience was less than pleasant. As she worked on my eyebrows, I kept waiting to feel the pain but before I knew it she was done. Pain free! She was fast and efficient. My eyebrows ended up a little thinner than I like, but I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem if I let her know next time. Wow!!! Came here to get my brows threaded by Preet and it wasn't so bad. She was very nice, friendly, quick and pleasant. My brows look cleaner and nicely shaped. I really like my "after" brows. I get my hair colored at a different salon but sometimes I need to get a quick inexpensive trim. I found this place through yelp and after some positive reviews decided to take a chance. I was confused at first because I called in and made my appt but when I arrived at the location it was an eyebrow threading salon. I called to make sure and it turns out that Tina cuts hair inside that salon. She took care of me very quickly and did a great job. Stay away from this place! I was in desperate need of an eyebrow threading I had planned to go to Beauty by Thread at Arden but I was in the EG area this place had 4 stars... When I walked in the salon was full. A wedding party was getting made up. Nobody greeted me. I was not acknowledged at all. That was a hint. I asked a fellow patron if we sign in or anything and she said no. I sat and waited my turn. After about 30 minutes I was up. I have been growing my brows because they seemed to be getting on the thin side. I explained this to the young lady and sat back. I have been getting threaded exclusively for about 5 years now and it only hurt the very 1st time until today. She was so rough it was very painful I was bleeding when she was done! It was so fast and my face was swollen. When she was done there was no thank yous. No acknowledgment that I was bleeding or swollen. This may have been the unfriendliest group of people I have encountered. Because my face was so swollen I didn't notice until I got home my eyebrows were seriously jacked up! One is significantly thicker and the arches are way off. I wanted twins but ended up with sisters and I'm livid! There were also random stray hairs left too. Now I have to regrow my brows again. And the worst part worse than the jacked eyebrows was the rude people that work there. I'm kicking myself for even staying when I wasn't acknowledged to begin with and living a decent tip for a crappy job and service. I went to Beauty by Thread a few days later to see if they could fix my brows. They asked me what happened and I said Preet in EG. All 3 ladies gave a knowing glance said "ooh I see" and started speaking in their language. I could tell it wasn't good. Seriously STAY AWAY from this place unless you want to be treated like you're beneath them, leave with battle wounds, and jacked up uneven brows! They deserve negative stars. I've never been interested in threading due to the fact that they do not have to be licensed to thread so I've always gotten my brows waxed instead. I ran into a girl at a party with perfect brows and she mentioned that she got them threaded here so of course I HAD to check it out. I walked in with no appointment and did not have to wait. Aman took me right away and began threading. She cleaned them up and did not leave a single stray! I was very happy with the outcome aside from the fact that my eyebrows are a bit thinner than I would like them to be. I have a low pain tolerance but the threading did not bother me too much...it felt more like a pinch in sensitive areas. I was in and out in no more than 10 minutes and it only costs $9. I used to get my eyebrows waxed from a nearby nail salon, and one day I went and the lady made my eyebrows so thin I wanted to cry my eyes out! So I was recommended this place and I have to say Preet and her sister, Aman, are fabulous! They are so kind! I always leave the place feeling confident of my eyebrows! I can't believe I've never visited here before. I'm sad I don't live closer so that I can come here every month. I had my brows and lip threaded. At first I thought she said it was $15, but she charged me $9, because my brows were pretty much shaped already. I only really wanted my lip done, but I wanted to see what all the Yelp hype was about. I don't know who did me, but she did a great job. My one brow is rounded and I use pencil/wax, etc. to try and arch it, but always fail. She managed to give me a nice point! (And I didn't even ask!) Anyways, can I say $9 for lip and brow??? It's so much better for your skin and you don't have to worry about getting burned, especially if you're on any kind of acne medication. It's so nice to finally find a good eyebrow threading lady here in the Sac/Elk Grove area. Preet is very nice & great at what she does. She rents out a space from the Hair Obsession salon. She only takes cash or check ... and you can't beat her price ... for eyebrow & upper lip threading ... it only cost me $ 15 ... that's a great deal :) Anyways, she's open 6 days a week except on Tuesdays. 13 minutes to a hairless face - Wow! This was my first threading ever. I relied on my fellow yelpers to give me good recommendations and boy did you ever. Preet was sweet (!!); fast, and fairly pain free. I will admit there was "sensation" like a soft snapping rubber band rolling over my skin. But it sure beats the ripping and burning from a wax and the resulting terrible breakouts. Back in November, my older brother got married. I was one of the Bride's maids and had gone with them and the bride to get our hair and make-up done at a salon up in Galt. I was looking for the classic Audrey Hepburn up-do. After the woman spent quite a bit of time teasing and hair spraying, I ended up with with something reminiscent of Amy Winehouse beehive. I was devastated, but felt too guilty to make the woman do it over agin. I went to Hair Obsession to meet up with my mother and grandmother who were getting their hair done. I was in tears at what my hair looked like and I knew there was nothing I could do to fix it. Kathy readily offered to fix my hair for me. I didn't care what it looked like at this point, I just wanted it to look good. Not only did Kathy fix my hair, but it come out looking BEAUTIFUL. She even went to the point of styling my fringe perfectly when the other woman refused to touch it. I couldn't thank Kathy enough for everything that she had done for me. She did a pretty decent job on my brows, but pulled on some of my baby hairs along my hair line. My eyebrows could've been trimmed shorter. 2 stars because I'm keen on sanitation and nothing was placed on the neck area before I laid back on the chair. I'm a guy, and usually pretty easy to please when it comes to haircuts. Came in on a Friday afternoon. They seemed really busy, but I was seated immediately. Told the stylist I wanted to trim the sides, but preserve overall length. Maybe I should have made myself a little more clear because that is not what I got... about 2 inches taken off the top! My first time here, what a horrible place. I should have stuck with beauty by the thread at the mall. The bigger and taller Indian girl got done with her customer and then gets on her cell phone when she knows I'm the only customer waiting. There's no sign-in procedure so I'm thinking oh she'll probably make a quick call - no 10 mins later she's still on her phone. Her co-worker the petite, smaller Indian girl keeps looking up cause she knows her co-worker is being rude. And this is when I knew the bigger Indian girl was totally stalling as soon as a white lady enters she hangs up, looks at me with a fake smile and asks what am I here for? Wow, all it took was a white lady to come in geez! Asians go on yelp too ya know?! Anyways she did a horrible job with my brows. She missed several small hairs and then she blames me that I didnt pull my lids hard enough ahem, excuse you your too damn lazy to do your job. Lame, i made her fix it and after the 2nd time I just gave up, she was hopeless. I told myself to never return - unless I returned with a white friend. I totally regret giving her a tip. Preet is a terrible business woman. The store is never opened when it is meant to be nor is the ATM machine working. She's extremely unprofessional, dishing dirt left and right. I'm a mother of two, a business woman myself and have NO desire (nor the time) to hear her complain about her day-to-day clients. Another thing I don't understand, she has a sign up that says "Walk-ins are welcomed" but when you walk-in without an appointment she's awfully rude and almost annoyed that you didn't call ahead. Preet is personable however is not professional. I have experienced long waits (despite making appointments a week in advance), her having conversations instead of focusing on my brows, as well as her taking sporadic breaks whenever she feels like it (notwithstanding a full waiting room). When she is in a hurry, she is not as attentive. My eyebrows have fallen victim to her sloppy work ethic. I have been a regular customer for the past four years, but after a litany of subpar experiences I decided to move on to Garara Palace, where I have received nothing but excellent service. I have been trying to find someone who does a good job threading/waxing, and I finally did! I have been to ALOT of salons for eyebrow threading and body waxing, and most dont meet my expectations. Preet, the lady who does the hair removal is great. The salon itself isnt anything to brag about ( a small, simple salon in the Raley's shopping center) but worth going into. Pricing is also great. I did my full face and am very satisfied. I will go back to her again to try body waxing. Edit: Preet has expanded her salon so that she is no longer in the back room. She now has the entire salon for threading and she has hired a few more ladies to help her. She also remodeled the salon and looks great! I really love this place and try and make the drive down to Elk Grove whenever I can. I've seen a lot of threaders in a lot of cities (NY, Berkeley, Boston) the past 12 years I've been getting full face threading done, and after seeing Preet and Aman I won't go anywhere else. The prices are SO great for the quality of work they do. I worry about my brows getting thin as I'm getting a little older, but they never have thinned them out. I only come here to get my eyebrows threaded and sometimes it gets a bit crowded. But I never had to wait more then five minutes. I've had several different ladies do my eyebrows and they're all quick and good at what they do. And I always feel better when I leave and my eyebrows look AMAZING. I only come in for facial/eyebrow threading and I love Preet!! She has a hectic schedule and the salon do not operate on Tuesday for whatever reason. I tried to squeeze in during prom season and she made it possible. She completes her job quickly with terrific results. Been there twice both for facial threading. It hurts like hell but she tries to be as gently as possible. She's very friendly and talks to you as if you've been her friend for years. While it is wheelchair accessible (you can get through the front door) if you want to actually get something done bring an assistant to help hold your head or to put you on a chair. Very friendly staff and patrons (thanks Monica for holding my head!). Quick and eyebrows and upper lip is $ 15. I've been back 3 times already. I'm going back this week again. I love this place. I've been getting my hair cut by Tina for years and she always does such a great job! I get personalized treatment when I'm there. I have really thick and unruly hair which grows unevenly but she always does a good job with layering and thinning it out so that it looks great and is manageable!! She is very thorough in ensuring all of my layers are even and very attentive to the length I want to maintain! She's the best! She also cuts hair for my whole family - my brother used to get his hair cut Korean style which is not easy to do but now he's grown out of that and Tina still gets his cut perfect every time!!
