The fact that the place has always seemed busy everytime I pass it gave me confidence that the place was probably half decent, and given that this small independent salon boasts 6 seats and each seems perpetually full, this seemed a good sign. I wasn't disappointed. An impromptu call in saw them willing to accommodate me within an hour (which was fine) and a wet cut with one of the two guys who own and operate the place cost me £25 which felt like a pretty good deal given the excellent service that I received, the tasty cappucino that I enjoyed whilst being seen, and the quality of cut I received. The place is also affiliated with 'Beauty in Elyssium', an in-house beauty salon run within the same building, and I look forward to trying them out at some point. All in all, highly recommended, and well worth a visit.

I went for a full set of highlights as I had at other salons giving the same explanation: that I wanted blonde highlights to make the grey hair less noticeable. What I ended up with was being *completely* blonde all over the bottom part of my hair: a shade of blonde that was extremely bright and I could not carry off being brown skinned. There were no gaps between the 'highlights': so much of my hair had been bleached that it looked solid blonde. I was in such shock after seeing the results in the mirror that I couldn't quite believe what had been done to my hair. I spent a few minutes sat in my car staring at my hair in the rear view mirror in horror then drove straight home as I looked so ridiculous I was embarrassed to be seen. I knew I could not leave my hair in that state as it looked so silly having bright blonde hair being brown skinned. I did some research online and discovered I would have to dye my hair red first to tone the blonde down then brown to cover it completely. I had to buy two packs of dye and spend hours fixing this at home. So I am now back to a one tone brown colour which I didn't want. The hairdresser didn't apologise for making me look so ridiculous: she just took the payment and didn't acknowledge it. I would not trust this person with my hair again.

You wouldn't think that was a lot to ask, but she was very excited and had told all her schoolmates in Yr 8. On a personal level, with 11-year-old twin boys, I had arranged a neighbour to to take of them whiie out with Eve, after extensive appointment conversations. But let's get to it. We arrived 10 mins early for our 5pm appointment, the salon was EMPTY. There were 3 members of staff doing nothing but having a laugh and conversation. They weren't even interested when we walked though the door. No-one greeted Eve or me, we were an intrusion to their conversation about their plans. The salon was empty as stated and then I was told Eve was booked in for the following Thursday. I was asked who booked her in. I said the receptionist. I then requested that Eve, as there were no customers, could have a hair cut as arranged, and the straightforward and no nonsense who-ever-she--s said no, but if I came back 3 hours later, she may be able to do something. Really???? I wanted this to be a good experience for Eve. I informed the staff, the salon still empty by the way, that it meant a lot to her. Can you believe their response? WE can't fit her in, you'll have to re-arrange. If this is how you treat teenagers, parents, your smart image doesn't fit!.

I'm not even a person who is very particular about their hair, I just kept having lacklustre cuts, and also having bad luck with decent hairdressers moving salons, or even moving cities. I booked a last minute appointment with Olivia on a whim in August last year when I had the afternoon off work, based on little else other than that they're close by and had appointments available. I was in a total rut with my hair at the time and Olivia was really helpful and enthusiastic in helping me decide on a new style. I've been back every six weeks or so since and I'm still really happy with the service and the quality of the cut every time. I get compliments on my hair after I've been, every time without fail, so that's got to be a good sign. You can book online, which is great for someone like me who cannot ever be bothered to pick up the phone unless forced. They also have a great range of products on sale, but I never feel like I'm getting the hard sell on anything, i.e. I bought some wax one time (actually v affordable at around £10) but haven't felt pressured to buy anything else. This is in stark contrast to other salons I've been to where they've tried to convince me that there's just no point having hair unless I pay through the nose for a product I'll never use. It's not the cheapest around, at £38 for a cut & finish, but I think it's great value for what I get. Would definitely recommend booking here for a haircut.
