This Hair Cuttery is easily the most frustrating salon experience I've had. I've given this location multiple chances, and the pattern is always the same: you call ahead and they claim to be fully booked, yet when you arrive there are only one or two customers in the chairs. Meanwhile, several stylists are in the back just talking, instead of taking walk‑ins. Walk-ins are frowned up. When I asked if I could get a haircut, I was told they were "booked solid," even though no new customers came in during the time I observed (about 20-30 min in my car). The lack of transparency and the dismissive, almost annoyed attitude toward questions is disappointing and unprofessional. For comparison, I went to the Hair Cuttery in Ellicott City right after this experience. They were genuinely busy, yet still greeted me warmly and fit me in without issue. That's the level of customer service I expect. This location needs serious management intervention if it hopes to survive in an area with plenty of other options. Until then, I'll continue driving past Mt. Airy to spend my money where it's appreciated. read more

Danielle is just the best! She's always doing some great job on my hair. She advises me with good information. I tell her what I want and she tells me if I can do it and how I can do it. My 1st time visiting after years of my wife cutting my hair. I used the Yelp app and read great reviews about Lisa, which is who I had my appointment with today and she was very attentive to my hair cut request and she took her time to do it right so that my cow licks didn't show up. When finished I can honestly say that I received the best haircut I've ever had and I left looking really good. That's never happened before with my hair. I went in for a full foil package & specified I wanted it really light blonde. She showed me a stand before toning & pointed out how light it was. The cut was great! When I saw my hair before being dried I braced myself for the disappointment to come because I couldn't see any highlights and normally do.. and I was very disappointed. There are highlights, but far from what I asked for & have always gotten! She told me that in order to achieve a lighter blonde it takes multiple treatments. What?! No other stylist has ever had that problem. I was also told that it would appear lighter tomorrow... The lighting in the salon & the color of the walls makes it look darker. No, she didn't do what I asked and didn't apply more highlights around the face. Again, while it definitely wasn't worth what I paid, The cut was good and it looked better than when I went in. read more

We took our 2-year-old here for a haircut and Angelique did a FANTASTIC job. She was great with my son, let him pick the color of the comb, and not only did he sit still the entire time, he even wore the cape and let her use the clippers. Went for a simple straight across trim and had my boyfriend take a pick of the back because it was just was not feeling right. I felt strands at all different lengths. This hair solon is charging people for services that aren't even in their printed brochure, and people need to know so they don't have the same thing happen to them. First, they don't post their prices anywhere that you can see. That is bad business. Next, after they ask you what you want done, they may or may not tell you what the cost will be, but they don't explain each separate charge. This should be the standard requirement of every employee, but this is not being done at this shop And if you don't know any better and don't ask, this is where they got you. The other day my daughter went in to get her hair washed, cut, and blow-dry. They told her what the cost would be, but my daughter never bothered to ask them what each line item charge would be. The total was more than we had paid several months prior. We naturally thought they had just raised their prices. Afterward when we questioned the staff person, we were told that there was an extra $10 charge for "curly" hair. Later we asked to see a list of their printed services, and learned that they don't have any charge for "curly" hair. This solon is tricking people into paying for services that aren't even in their own printed booklet...simply because we failed to ask. This can easily be avoided if you simply ask the staff person to explain every line item charge and show this charge to you in their printed brochure. Please ...Don't be afraid to ask. read more

Paige shaved my son's head, when I brought him in for a trim. THEN she had the audacity to tell me that I ASKED HER TO DO SO. She gave him a dramatic change, and it is the worst haircut (if you can call shaving someone's entire head a haircut) he has ever gotten. I used to see Beth there, but she's not there anymore. So I told them that I didn't mind who did it. She told me that they don't take appointments if you don't have a specific stylist. She said I would have to come in and if they had time they would see me, and that was their policy... DUMB! read more
