    Homemade Walnut Baklava
    Elaine W.

The first baklava place we went to in Turkey! We heard this was one of the best places to go, and our tour guide also mentioned that it's one of his favorites. The homemade walnut baklava was a bit too sweet for us, but we quite liked the chocolate pistachio one! I also ordered some salep which I enjoyed as well. I also tried Turkish Delights at several other stores throughout our trip here and found HM's to be the best by far in terms of softness, chewiness, and flavor. I highly recommend the pomegranate pistachio delight! You can also ask to sample any of the delights on display.

We walked past this shop and saw a lot of people. The baklava was very good. We tried the Ottomon Coffee for the first time. It was quite strong. Service was good. Worthwhile trying.

These spots are all over town. Literally. You find them everywhere. Many times we would be walking by and were given samples of baklava and Turkish delight. Not bad. This was the first time we stopped for a sit down dessert. I ordered the Kunafa. Flavor and texture was good, but I've had better. My wife ordered the pistachio tres leches. I liked this more than mine, and normally I don't like tres leches. Did I like it yes. Is it the best ever? No.

Turkish delights are the iconic staple of Turkey. Adorned along the streets of Istanbul, you will find multiple locations of this shop. Given the long lines and crowded tables, I had to step inside and check this place out for myself. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, offering free samples of different Turkish delight to try. I was not sure what to order and had the server order for me. He picked 4 different types of signature Turkish delights. I thought the prices were reasonable considering this is a premium product. The flavors were delicious, everything was very fresh and the quality was very high. You can find cheaper options elsewhere but I think it's worth checking out and sampling for yourself!

Super crowded but received a table right away. They had so much staff it was like a well oiled machine. Shared our dessert. Service is fast and friendly. Prices a little high. Great for dessert and coffee.

    Poor tasting desserts.

Horrendous and overrated food and even worse service. I think due to the amount of people and tourists they get their customer service is pathetic and food is tasteless. Save your money!

Pistachios Tres Leches with Turkish ice cream

We tried baklava at H&M - Hafiz Mustafa near Blue Mosque and it was not your average baklava! We had the pistachio Tres Leches cake with ice cream and variety pistachio baklava and they both were simply amazing...not too sweet!

Historic sweets shop with excellent Turkish coffee and traditional desserts. It's a bit on the expensive side though and you can certainly find other confectioners in the city with more reasonable prices.

Chocolate pudding topped with pistachio cream

Hafiz Mustafa should be your destination for Turkish dessert, particularly puddings! Don't be intimidate by the old-fashioned fancy atmosphere of this classic Istanbul dessert chain, because even peasants like us can enjoy the delicious desserts here at ease. In the tempting display of pudding, you will find many delectable choices like chocolate pudding topped with pistachio cream and fruit-embedded pudding. For 13.5 TL, you can get a high-quality and delicious pudding that comes in a portion so big and filling that it could easily be a meal. Unless you have no soul, I am sure you will love the pudding here! Whether you are looking for an after-meal dessert, an afternoon tea, or really any excuse to enjoy some Turkish desserts, you cannot go wrong with Hafiz Mustafa! I highly recommend trying out their famous puddings at least once when you are in Istanbul. You also receive a pretty nice glass pudding bowl as a souvenir if you take-out the pudding!

The aroma is nice when it is being roasted. The shop is small. It has two windows. It's like a drive-thru lol but you walk, no cars. You order in one window and get the coffee in a paper bag at the other window. They do not speak English here or try. Communication is easy because they only sell one type of coffee at the window and have two sizes. I did well with pointing. It is a place you want to know what you want before getting to the window. They have little patience and long lines. They run like robots here. It is crazy fast how work. Have payment on hand. The shop in near the spice market. The coffee here is well known. This place was in the vicinity and decent according to trip advisor AND open late. The restaurant is gigantic. I'm not an expert on average restaurant sizes in Turkey but this is one of the biggest restaurants I've ever seen. It has like 5 levels and is decorated impeccably. Impeccable as a synonym for weird. We were kindly seated in this, I'm not joking, like library on the roof. I literally took panoramic snapchats with the caption "this is literally where we are eating dinner". We sat on the couch in the library and the food was placed on a coffee-table like structure in front of us. We went with hookah of course, because 6 hours of hookah prior to our arrival was clearly inadequate. The staff were impressively attentive to our coals and came to check up on them every 30 min or so. If you know us, it won't be surprising that we literally ordered the entire menu. We got boreka-like spinach and cheese SPRING ROLLS (wtf?), spinach and cheese pastry thing, hummus (OBVIOUSLY), zucchini fritters, meat-ravioli in a cream sauce, and pita bread (OBVIOUSLY). Everything was absolutely spectacular. We ate way more food than is probably recommended for health/safety reasons but it was worth it. The staff was absolutely incredible with how much attention they gave us. Because we were off in a colony on mars practically, we had no idea that the restaurant had pretty much closed down in the floors below. This abruptly came to my attention when I drunkenly attempted to search for the bathroom. Our waiter additionally went out of his way to flag our cab down on our way out. Amazing hospitality in this place. Anyways, this was honestly one of my best experiences in a restaurant to date. Highly recommend.
