Great baklava and variety of cakes and puddings! Convenient location in sultanahmet but not hard to find- be it any part of Istanbul, even Dubai.

Homemade Walnut Baklava
Elaine W.

The first baklava place we went to in Turkey! We heard this was one of the best places to go, and our tour guide also mentioned that it's one of his favorites. The homemade walnut baklava was a bit too sweet for us, but we quite liked the chocolate pistachio one! I also ordered some salep which I enjoyed as well. I also tried Turkish Delights at several other stores throughout our trip here and found HM's to be the best by far in terms of softness, chewiness, and flavor. I highly recommend the pomegranate pistachio delight! You can also ask to sample any of the delights on display.

Ottoman Coffee 200TL

We walked past this shop and saw a lot of people. The baklava was very good. We tried the Ottomon Coffee for the first time. It was quite strong. Service was good. Worthwhile trying.

These spots are all over town. Literally. You find them everywhere. Many times we would be walking by and were given samples of baklava and Turkish delight. Not bad. This was the first time we stopped for a sit down dessert. I ordered the Kunafa. Flavor and texture was good, but I've had better. My wife ordered the pistachio tres leches. I liked this more than mine, and normally I don't like tres leches. Did I like it yes. Is it the best ever? No.

Turkish delights are the iconic staple of Turkey. Adorned along the streets of Istanbul, you will find multiple locations of this shop. Given the long lines and crowded tables, I had to step inside and check this place out for myself. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, offering free samples of different Turkish delight to try. I was not sure what to order and had the server order for me. He picked 4 different types of signature Turkish delights. I thought the prices were reasonable considering this is a premium product. The flavors were delicious, everything was very fresh and the quality was very high. You can find cheaper options elsewhere but I think it's worth checking out and sampling for yourself!

Baklava

Super crowded but received a table right away. They had so much staff it was like a well oiled machine. Shared our dessert. Service is fast and friendly. Prices a little high. Great for dessert and coffee.

Poor tasting desserts.

Horrendous and overrated food and even worse service. I think due to the amount of people and tourists they get their customer service is pathetic and food is tasteless. Save your money!

Pistachios Tres Leches with Turkish ice cream

We tried baklava at H&M - Hafiz Mustafa near Blue Mosque and it was not your average baklava! We had the pistachio Tres Leches cake with ice cream and variety pistachio baklava and they both were simply amazing...not too sweet!

Historic sweets shop with excellent Turkish coffee and traditional desserts. It's a bit on the expensive side though and you can certainly find other confectioners in the city with more reasonable prices.

Chocolate pudding topped with pistachio cream

Hafiz Mustafa should be your destination for Turkish dessert, particularly puddings! Don't be intimidate by the old-fashioned fancy atmosphere of this classic Istanbul dessert chain, because even peasants like us can enjoy the delicious desserts here at ease. In the tempting display of pudding, you will find many delectable choices like chocolate pudding topped with pistachio cream and fruit-embedded pudding. For 13.5 TL, you can get a high-quality and delicious pudding that comes in a portion so big and filling that it could easily be a meal. Unless you have no soul, I am sure you will love the pudding here! Whether you are looking for an after-meal dessert, an afternoon tea, or really any excuse to enjoy some Turkish desserts, you cannot go wrong with Hafiz Mustafa! I highly recommend trying out their famous puddings at least once when you are in Istanbul. You also receive a pretty nice glass pudding bowl as a souvenir if you take-out the pudding!

Step inside and on the walls you will see featured articles about this place aka Karakoy Ozsut* We not only discovered our favorite breakfast dive in Istanbul at Karaköy Özsüt but a new friendship was made between us and the owner Hasan. For that, Karaköy Özsüt will always have a special place in our hearts. The interior is unimpressive and the fluorescent lights are dull. But, this is what it gives it soul and for their sake, we hope Karaköy Özsüt remains the perfect way it is. Known as having one of the best kaymak in Istanbul, Karaköy Özsüt has its own herd of buffalos whose fresh milk is used to make kaymak (Turkish clotted cream) that makes up a huge part of a traditional Turkish breakfast. Hasan frequently drives his truck out to his ranch, 125km away from Istanbul, where he milks the buffalos and gathers the milk to produce kaymak. At one point in conversation, he whips out his cell phone and shows us a short video of his baby buffalo at the ranch. Awww. A heaping of kaymak and honey are served together on a plate; smeared onto bread and eaten. The kaymak here put us right into a clotted cream high with its smoothness and creaminess. There is something about the Turkish clotted cream that despite its indication of "cream", it does not leave you feeling heavy and sluggish or like one of those feelings where you feel you've really had enough of NY cheesecake. In fact, after a breakfast full of kaymak, I dream of eating it again and again. Another must-have classic Turkish breakfast item is menemen: scrambled eggs made with tomato, cheese, spices. Sucuk (spicy Turkish sausage) is a common favorite added to menemen so be sure to request for that. The menemen is flavorful while exploding with different combinations of spices which we could not tell what exactly they were except to just savor each spoonful of it. Hasan also makes the best lentil soup, ever. We have been hooked since.

It is probably my favorite dessert. I mean, how can you go wrong with cheese baked in a semolina crust and soaked in sweetness? I researched places to eat Kunefe near the Galata tower and Yelp showed me Tandir. It is quite close to the tower and we walked in during one snowy evening around 8pm. We were the only patrons in the small space and the kunefe was made fresh from scratch. No pre-prepared stuff here. Needless to say, it was delicious! It was not as mind-blowing as the ones I had in Akko and Haifa, but it is great. There are other desserts on the menu, but I went here to eat kunefe alone. I left a happy man after finishing my share and my husband's share.

The place is nice and clean with a visble kitchen and you can see them preparing your dessert. They do not have a lot of options, but if you want to come specifically for Kunefe then might be worth sitting down. As for the desert itself, the texture was amazing, and highly recommended for everyone with a sweet tooth. It was crispy, fluffy, warm, creamy, syrupy tipped with pistachios. For me little too sweet, but I imagine they are supposed to be that way. I cannot handle too much sweetness but just the texture of the dessert makes me want to have it again.
