The Hamburger Dom Sommerdom capped off our summer festing all proper like. The area they allot for the Dom is massive and has a lot of "B's": beer gardens, beer bars, bratwurst, and booze as carnival prizes (YES, you read that right!). There are also a ton of standard carnival rides and rollercoasters; they even have funhouses like the ones in the Grease movie (which I've never seen anywhere else).
Beide bier und bratwurst were consumed aplenty during our visit to the Hamburger Dom. We also went on a Friday night and were lucky enough to hop on the ferris wheel just as the weekly fireworks display began! Perfect timing!
We had only recently heard about Hamburger Dom, but apparently it happens three times a year and runs for about a month each time during the spring, summer, and winter. Without a doubt, my wife and I will be regulars from here on out. And we'll be recommending people from home (SF, CA) to visit when it's around.
