We booked Ian to do our loft conversion. This was back in July/August and we asked re availability as we wanted to get the loft done ASAP. It was deemed no problem that we wanted to start in September. After informing him we wanted to use his company he asked for £500. After that he would send a receipt and a payment schedule and come and measure for the plans. We have never received a receipt for this money or a payment schedule. When asked he's claimed it's been done or will be sent again and yet nothing arrives. He measured up on the 19th August for the plans to be done. After some chasing on our part as it was silent from him, we were told in an email on the 13th September that the plans should be with us during the week. They never arrived. A lot of chasing after that was met with excuses about the delay and new dates for when the plans would be ready that came and went and no plans received and no communication from Ian. It is now 19th October and we have no plans. 3 weeks ago he stated that he would start our loft on the 13th October. This is despite us having had no plans to look at, and obviously no plans means no building regs. When the 13th October was upon us with no further word from Ian about starting. We read some more recent reviews on him and found others with similar experiences. We then decided to cancel him. He refused to give us the £500 back saying it covered the cost of the plans, that we still do not have. He claims to have tried to email them but it wasn't working so he would send recorded delivery, but they haven't arrived. He now says he will send them on Tuesday. In short, Ian is impossible to get hold of on the phone and you only get a response on text or email. He has never stuck to a date, has provided excuse after excuse for delays and lack of receipts and plans. He has given start dates etc that are missed and with no communication from Ian, left for us to chase up and be met with more excuses. My advice is to avoid and go with a company who you can trust to deliver what they say and who communicate with their customers. At best I would say he's incompetent at running a company at worse I'd call him a con man. read more
