They had 2 women working when I got there, 5 minutes early. I was told someone would be right with me. One of them (found out later she claims to be the office manager) finished with her customer by 3:15 and began walking around the office, like she was looking for something to do. Meanwhile, I'm sitting there going on 15-20 minutes. Went outside for a smoke, and when I went back inside (now 3:20) I said I had an appointment, why was I still waiting. WELL....this set off the OM, THIS IS MY LUNCH TIME AND I'M ENTITLED TO TAKE IT. I asked why bother making appointments? Then she tried to turn the tables and blamed MY attitude. F*** that! She CANCELLED MY APPOINTMENT AND TOSSED ME! This woman shouldn't be dealing with the public. She belongs in a basement office with no windows. To Jackson Hewitt corporate...this employee is not good for your bottom line. You'd be wise to do something about it, and fast, because I'm telling everyone I know about it. On the plus side, I went down the street to H&R Block. They took me in immediately, and I was heading home 35 minutes later, with a LARGER refund than I expected. Back to JH, this woman put her idle time ahead of a paying customer. She chose to eat a sandwich (which she surely didn't need) over keeping an appointment. I arrived on time and brought all the necessary documents. After reviewing them, Gail confirmed that everything needed was there, but then told me it would take her about two hours and that she had other clients to attend to. Despite my urgent need to file--due to upcoming international travel--she insisted she couldn't proceed. When I explained my time constraints and politely asked her to complete the filing, she reluctantly began, only to stop again and refuse service, citing the number of documents I had. She claimed I should have mentioned that I have two properties, some dividends, and a newborn--yet no one asked for this information when the appointment was booked. It's unreasonable to blame customers for poor intake procedures or scheduling errors. The situation became frustrating, and while voices were raised due to the stress of the moment, I want to emphasize that no insults, bad language, or profanity were used. It was simply a raised tone given the frustrating situation--not a disrespectful or offensive exchange in any way. However, what happened next was completely unacceptable. As we were leaving, another employee approached us in an aggressive manner, came very close to my husband--who was holding our one-year-old child--and threatened to call the police if we didn't leave. My husband calmly asked him to maintain personal space, but the employee moved even closer, as if preparing to escalate things physically. I wanted to report this incident to a supervisor and asked the front desk staff if I could speak with someone in charge or if they could check the security camera footage. The front desk lady told me that the supervisor was too busy, as they were overseeing multiple locations, and she could only send an email to them. She refused to put me in direct contact with the supervisor, saying they would call me at some point--but no one ever did. This level of unprofessionalism and intimidation, especially toward a family with a baby, is absolutely appalling. I strongly advise others to think twice before booking with this location. The lack of professionalism, poor customer service, failure to follow up, and threatening behavior do not reflect well on the Jackson Hewitt
