When you hire a professional, you expect just that, and a safety net like they promise. "If the mistake is ours, we will fix it with our guarantee." Well, they did make a mistake by just not checking a small box that stated my kids live with my wife and me. This resulted in us owing the IRS, but just before we paid the IRS, H&R called us because they had noticed the mistake they had made and asked to refile it with this amendment, resulting in a refund. We waited forever, knowing it would take a long time because an amendment they filed resulted in the old-fashioned check by mail. It never came, so we called H&R because by now we had received a collection notification from the IRS in the mail. H&R had us sign power of attorney over to Ann, the owner, so she could act on our behalf. She has gotten it so screwed up that I got a refund in the mail and owed for the same year, all in the same month. Ann told us it was no big deal and it would be taken care of. Now, a year later, that $3,000 just in interest is owed according to the IRS. We forfeited last year's taxes to the IRS because they still have us owing them, and this year we will also most likely forfeit. Ann, the owner of our local H&R, has decided that they could be in a lawsuit and cut all ties to help. So this is a warning about the local Cody and Powell branches owned by the same person, Ann. Just know she will not have your back in the long run. I actually have texts and mailed proof that I will show anyone at any time. Their guarantee is no guarantee they will help fix their mistakes.

Two out of three times now the 1099s do not get sent to that state and after some time the state sends us a notice that they did not receive our 1099s. H&R said the state did not let them download our 1099s. Maybe that's the state's fault, I don't know. I just know the state must have the 1099s. So, this H&R office knew the state required the paperwork. SO, if you can't download the paperwork what's the next way of getting the paperwork to the state? SEND THEM BY MAIL! They did send them by mail AFTER the state asked for them and we had MADE it clear the state needed them. Now we are waiting for a refund that has been DELAYED by several weeks. Two out of three times of getting a long delay because of this. WILL NOT BE HAPPENING AGAIN!
