Assurance Tax Advisors advertises "real solutions, for real people, to real problems, every day."…read moreBased on my experience, a more accurate slogan would be: "We turn simple tax problems into real problems for real people."
I honestly don't know how Jay Mangrum runs a tax business because, based on my experience, I genuinely question whether he knows what he's doing. I'm not even sure he understands accounting well enough to provide the services he's advertising.
Two years ago, I gave Jay my taxes to handle a simple amendment to a previous tax return, and he did absolutely nothing. I understand taxes can be complicated, but at least know what you're doing, be honest with your clients, and follow through on the work you're being paid to do.
Then Jay offered to handle my 2024 taxes. I provided all my documents, paid him for his services, and he never completed them either! I've now trusted him with my taxes twice, and both times I've been left without the work I paid for.
My experience with Jay Mangrum and Assurance Tax Advisors is that they're great at giving advice, but when it comes to actually doing the work, that's where everything seems to fall apart. What's the point of hiring a tax advisor if you still end up with unfinished taxes? I'm not paying someone just to talk about my tax problems. I'm paying them to help resolve them.
Honestly, ChatGPT has been more helpful explaining tax matters than the accountant I actually paid. Never thought I'd say that, but here we are.
I can't speak for everyone, but after my experiences, I have absolutely no confidence in Jay Mangrum or Assurance Tax Advisors. Don't make the same mistake I did. Take your business somewhere else, because your time, money, and tax obligations deserve better than advice without follow-through.
