I first saw the funny looking dog wearing pj's and a santa hat in the store window of Peter Alexander and it was pink inside. So naturally I thought, how pretty, I must walk inside and see what this dog is telling me. I went inside and saw such cutesy wootsey pajamas I went a bit crazy and picked a few boxers, a few long pants, sweats, ugg boots even... all things good for sleeping. Then I checked out how much the clothes were and proceeded to kindly put them back in their rightful shop places. I ended up buying a onesie for my son (yes pj's that were $59.95). The next time I got paid, I ran back in there and got a matching set for me. The material is so soft! By far the most comfortable clothes I have ever slept in... cost me $79.95 but hey... I am NOT telling ANYONE I paid that price... unless they have the same guilty pleasure as me. They also sell onesie bodysuits for guys... I would have loved to buy one for my husband but 1) they ran out of his size because apparently there are many men running around wearing a onesie bodysuit and 2) it was $159.95... I can't justify that, there is a chance he might never wear it as well. That is one really expensive price for me having a good laugh, so I said to the nice lady 'no, I won't pre-order one for when they next come in'. So this place also sells a helluva lot of accessories from your soaps to your undies to your teddy bears to anything you use in the vicinity of your bedroom and bathroom. Everything is nice, everything is pretty, everything is pretty highly priced... but I guess with pj's as soft as these and a name like a fashion designer Peter Alexander, you can't really charge anything less.

Yes, I know they are a little bit of an indulgence but you will thank me as soon as that soft material cuddles you to sleep at night. Peter Alexander pajamas make great gifts. When you can't think of what to get your brother, son, husband or boyfriend, I recommend a pair of PJ's, or at least the pants. They have funky boxers too with interesting patterns that are constantly updated. Their ladies PJ's range from sexy slips to full PJ sets. They also have a range of other gifts available from chocolates to funny books. I urge you to a least walk into this store.

I always find some great clothes at Hey Hey It's Yesterday's Thrift Shop. Everything they sell is always in top-notch condition and at excellent prices. Hey Hey's is situated just a quick walk away from Rosalie village. It is fitted inside an old house which works perfectly in categorising the store. The store uses different "room" for separate things; there is an entire room devoted to men's wear a room devoted to children's wear toys and homewares and a room for ladies' wear. The staff seem to be pretty friendly to others but for some reason, I often get ignored when I enter the store, usually it is because they are busy serving other people so I don't mind that much.

It's a little shop in Nash Street that sells every type of second-hand thing you could ever imagine. They have clothes, shoes, jewellery, handbags, and even sports equipment like bowling balls and hockey sticks, bless them. But the profits from these items don't even benefit the shop owners, they all go to benefit brain-injured children. You can't get more selfless than that. This shop is really a testament to the good people that run it, and they don't even charge much for their items. Books and videos are only $2, DVDs only $3. Everything is cheap as chips but goes to such a great cause. If you've ever visited Cold Rock or Grill'd at Rosalie, all you need to do is drive up a little bit more and you'll run into Hey Hey It's Yesterday's Thrift Shop. It's in an absolutely beautiful old burgundy-sort-of-coloured house. And with that comes two eventualities: baby showers and Savvy Aunty duties. Social norms dictate that one must bring gifts to said baby showers and Savvy Aunty duties just mean that you get to buy the things for no reason other than to be the "cool" Aunty. Either way, both of these eventualities lead me to stores like Eeni Meeni Miini Moh. Previously only located on James Street, the Toowong Village renovations have meant there's space for this dedicated kids boutique (from newborn to about 5ish by the look of the clothes on display) to call the Inner-West home. I stopped in recently on a mission for gifts for a friend's upcoming baby shower and was greeted by a range of neatly organised clothes for girls on one side and young gents on the other. In between are shelves of cool trinkets, games and other accessories. It is on the higher price point and certainly not at your Kmart $3 onesie level. That said, for a keepsake gift such as a blanket or for a stylish "spoil your niece/nephew" gift, then here is just where you need to be shopping.
