Aside from Zytglogge and Bärengraben, this structure topped my list of things to see during my day trip to the city. Kindlifresserbrunnen translates to "child-eater fountain," and it depicts exactly that: an ogre eating babies by the sack full. Not only was I enthralled by this concept, but I was amazed that it was actually a long-standing public structure and not a form of avant garde art. This would never be erected in The States... but I would love to see one appear anyways. Berne, keep staying awesome.

There is a restaurant, a lookout area and a separate tower at the top. The lookout area is free. The tower offers 2 levels (30 m and 72 m) of views for free. The highest level of view (900m) will cost 1 or 2 franc. From this small mountain, you can hike various paths ranging from 0.6 km to several km. I wish I had the time and the right shoes to hike one of the paths. I'm sure the experience would be well worth the effort.

But then after a few steps the old wooden buildings will pop up. They are dated back to the 16th Century....making them around 500 years old. Mostly they are made from larch wood, containing lots of resin, which makes them very strong and also keeps away parasites. Many of the buildings are still inhabited and used. So be respectful to the buildings and its owners and keep the noise level low. Between some buildings you even can catch a great view of the Matterhorn (on your right when walking down). Of course there are always visitors present, but if you're just a bit patient and wait a few minutes you can get some pics without anybody on it. Most visitors rush through this place. But if possible, take your time to fully appreciate this part of Zermatt.

Much of the time at various museums, but found time to walk to Lake Zurich. Big vast blue mountain lake on the edge of one of the most expensive cities in Europe. Snow covered peaks of the Alps in the background. Fancy promenade for walking around the parks full of gardens that line the Lake. Water fountain in one area, spewing a geyser of water high in the sky. Bridges and wooden towers line the river full of ducks quaking for a handout. On the opposite side is a lake shore walkway. They have a high dive tower in the summer, where dare devils jump off the 30 foot tower into the deep cold waters of the Lake below. A local band is playing. When they see that I'm recording a few seconds of music, one of the performers stops me afterward, asking if I would like to buy a CD of their music. Trying to get hustled again. Not many Asians in Zurich, and no way for me to hide that I was a tourist. As our tour leader, Marion Roy said, this was the first time she had seen a senior Chinese tourist in shorts and sandals. But she had never been to California in the summer nor Hawaii.

Located in old town Zurich, this is a wonderful place to walk around and look at the shops, eat…read moredinner, grab a drink, and see some local landmarks. With plenty of restaurants, you are bound to find a place with good food and great atmosphere! The options are endless. Multiple shops line the street, from designer labels, to old antique shops that sell Swiss knives. The old river runs along side the street, as well as some popular church's, including the Grossmünster Church. The area has beautiful architecture, and during the holiday season, is lined with Christmas lights. As we walked along, we enjoyed window shopping, ending with a good dinner. Definitely a good way to spend the evening.

If you like to ski or hike Chamonix is your kind of place…read more Some of the most insane slopes I have ever skied. This time we finished up the TDMB at Chamonix ( as do most hikers). Sure it is pricey and touristy...but dam it is cute and romantic. Plenty to do and see. Highly recommend the $75 pass that gets you the train ride to the glaciers, the needle gondola to the glaciers, and the high speed lift on the other side for hiking.....it will keep you busy all day and you will be able to hike on a Glacier. Bucket list place.
