Let me start by saying the food was delicious, I would not go super hungry it's tapas style and great for happy hour or light eats. I'd give 5 stars. The initial service was 1 start, the hostess have the worst attitude, not friendly at all and not accommodating. We waited for almost an hour and a half and we still did not get the seats. Therefore, I think manage could be better. Delicious food and swanky interiors and views! Came here Friday night for a girl's night dinner and reunion and honestly don't have anything to complain about. Parking is validated in the large garage underneath the shopping complex for up to 3 hours. The restaurant is located in an upscale area of Buckhead with tons of shops and restaurants. We sat inside, but they had the patio doors open so we could see outside. People were dressed from smart casual to business formal and there was a birthday and wedding party in there. We got the cheese board, brussel sprouts, octopus, patatas bravas, croquetas, and paella. Cheese board - Good to share amongst 4 gals. They preslice the cheese which saves a lot of mess. Wasn't a big fan of the pickled veggies that come free with it though. They were pretty mushy and not pickled well. The meats and cheeses were great though. We got the manchego and mahon cheese paired with spanish sausage and jamon serrano. It also comes with a tomato jelly, pickled onions, and bread. Brussel sprouts - Crispy and light, everyone loved this. Octopus - Cooked really well -- crispy outside and chewy on the inside. Wasn't a fan of the sauces it comes with though. There's a yogurt sauce, black bean sauce, and tomato sauce. Thought the tomato was the most natural, but the octopus is seasoned just fine without these. The sauces are a bit too strong. Patatas bravas - I like how they used smaller potatoes and cut them into various sizes so it wasn't just cubes as I've seem at other restaurants. Really crispy. The sauce is also good and a bit more tangy than a typical aeoli. Quite enjoyed this one! Croquetas - probably my favorite -- perfectly crispy with a creamy inside. I think it came with 5, so more than enough to share. Paella - Rice was done well -- this one was a bit more on the soupy side with the sauce, and had peas. Fair amount of shrimp and mussels. For dessert, we shared a tres leches cake that was delicious. A lot more cinnamon/berries than I've traditionally had with this cake, so it tasted kind of like the holidays, but it was a chilly night and this was perfect. Service was great and they came by very often to check on us. Prices were fair, and I would say on the lower-medium side considering the area and other Atlanta tapas restaurants. Gypsy Kitchen was previously titled "my favorite resturant in atlanta" on my previous review, but now it's the one where I experienced the blatant rudeness. Maybe my 8th time here. I was with a few friends for a special occasion (moving to a new city), so of course I chose my favorite spot. However, I made the reservation for 8PM...we were seated at 8:40PM. When I inquired about the delay, Elizabeth, the assistant manager, met me with rudeness and quite the condescending tone. Apparently if u make a reservation here, there is NO guarantee you'll be seated promptly as Elizabeth informed me. I had called earlier to add two friends to which they said only if we agreed to sit outside. Since it was a very cold night, I agreed to excluding two of my friends and keeping our indoor reservation. We were still seated outdoors and without our friends to accompanying us. The food is still amazing. The chefs are great. And I really appreciated the manager trying to better our experience. Also our waitress was super sweet. UPDATE: I came back to Gypsy Kitchen again with a girl friend for brunch. We really enjoyed ourselves and again the service was good our waitress was very sweet. We ordered a pretty fruit mimosas, I wish I could remember the flavor. The bartender honestly was experimenting with the mimosa flavors (per our waitress lol) but they were delicious! For our meal we shared the shashuka, an eggplant dip and steak and potatoes. My favorite was definitely the steak and potatoes which all around had a great flavor and was very tender. We celebrated our anniversary this year here. Ambience: Gypsy Kitchen is in the Buckhead Village District, which is the most upscale commercial area of Atlanta. It's a beautiful place with shops, stuff to do and parking (which Gypsy Kitchen validates). Park on the multi level, go up the elevator to street level, take a second elevator around the corner and walk across on a walkway. Once inside the restaurant well they have a happening scene with a bar and plenty of young vibrant customers. With a good selection of cocktails, liquors and wine, you can definitely have a great time here. Food: We ordered Mahon cheese, Manchego, Octopus, skirt steak, Brussels sprouts, mushroom toasts, and chicken croquettes. Everything was good, but none of them that memorable. My favorite was the Mahon/Manchego combination and sprouts. My wife also enjoyed the steak very much. This is why they're getting 4 and not 5 stars from me." The vegetable paella was absolutely delicious as well but I will say that the greens on top for garnish had a bitter taste so we all avoided those. The jamon serrano plate was good but I would not order it again. The patatas braves were nothing special, and I would recommend you skip that. The Grilled Octopus - WARNING: This octopus slathered in sauce to mask the lack of freshness may cause food borne illness. It was overwhelming fishy, questionable to eat, and we chose not to ingest any more than a bite. (I ended up sick after eating here.) Some of the other dishes were decent: skirt steak, lamb chops, patatas bravas and garlic shrimp. Nothing amazing but nothing bad, just solid. The crispy Brussel sprouts took us by surprise though. Some crisp, some crunchy and some creamy. It was a nice textural medley that was unexpected. In my previous review, I raved about the Brussels sprouts. I also said that you couldn't go wrong with potatoes. Well, of course over time (as with many restaurants), things and menus change. The new Brussels are just okay. Just doing way too much. They've added mustard seeds, hummus. I like that they were sautéed and seasoned well. The hummus was just really throwing it off for me. I thought the gravy and sprinkle of Parmesan from the previous menu had more of a wow factor (but maybe it's a seasonal thing). The patatas bravas as were different as well, and mine were a bit overcooked. If you're going with a group, be sure to specify which patio you want. One is super cute and lively with a great view. My sister and I went to Candytopia and decided to grab a bite to eat in the area. We narrowed it down to this spot and Southern Gentleman. It's located on the top level of The Shops At Buckhead, so the outside area is nice. I think it makes for a great place to meet friends. The not so good: the food. We tried the goat cheese, garlic shrimp, some type of sausage sandwich, and the patatas bravas. The only think that I really enjoyed was the shrimp. As such, it's not a good value. I think you are paying for the location and ambiance, not the food or drinks for that matter. My sister did order an alcoholic beverage that I did taste. Tomas was our server and he was fabulous! Gave us excellent recs. The showstopper for me was the skirt steak. Unique flavors and the steak is perfectly cooked to tender perfection. Do not leave GK without ordering it. And the Turkish spice cake for dessert. It's like tiramisu but better (if that's possible) ‍ I'll be dreaming about both for a long time. I decided to break the Covid spell and check out this new restaurant. At least it was new for me. It's a great little spot right in the shops of Buckhead. I started out with the brussels sprouts and the Mediterranean salad. We also had the bronzino fish and some other small dishes. Our Chris server was great as he shared stories about his time in Connecticut and made our restaurant stay enjoyable. We sat on the rooftop which was really nice as it was 70°. Please note that you should probably park in the underground parking and be sure to ask for validation from your server. Great experience I'll be back. I have to give this Gypsy Kitchen one star for how they are handling (or not handling) COVID-19. I arrived here on a Wednesday evening with my Mother. We went to the host stand and requested to eat outside. They have a good amount of outdoor seating, 3 separate patios. The uncovered part was not open for seating but they had two patios that were insulated with plastic. We requested for the host/manager to seat us where it would be less busy... so he sat us in a really nice and quaint section outside. There was only one other couple there and we sat at the edge of the tent, where (Thank God) a small opening a fresh air continuously entered. Our server was really nice, friendly and patient. We ordered two glasses of their Pinot noir and chicken croquettes for an appetizer. We then ordered the seafood paella.... While waiting for our main entree, a raucous dinner party of about 10-15 people were being seated. All of them sat down with no mask on. They were shouting, loud and obnoxious also standing up and yelling too!!The entire time no one had on masks even before their food came... and no it wasn't just the dinner party in the area. More and more people came. We kept our masks up the whole time except between bites of food and sips of alcohol. The entire patio was packed by the time we did finish our food and we ran out of there. The inside and outside the restaurant was bumping and thumping amid cases of COVID-19 skyrocketing across the country. Inside was even scarier. I do want to support restaurant businesses but there should be some limit on the amount of dinner parties, I think it's recommended by CDC there shouldn't be more than 6 people in a dinner party. Also if possible there should be more space between the tables. Oh and they did not do temperature checks. There was just no precautions taken whatsoever. It felt as if the restaurant didn't really care a pandemic was going on yet it's been going on all year. It's common in Atlanta to see this but I don't think it's right at all... Just because they want to act like COVID-19 doesn't exist, does not mean it has disappeared. Oh and the food... the appetizer, chicken croquettes, were pretty okay. The entree, seafood paella, was good. I think for over $30 it could've been bigger. The wine was great too. Mmmk read more
