Venue- The venue space was large enough to hold our guests of 150 comfortably. The added drapery and greenery to the chandeliers was such a beautiful touch that complemented our decor. We loved the option that our guests could go outside on the terrance and enjoy the sunset. The bridal suite made for beautiful photos and comfortably could fit a small bridal party. The extra touches of tissues, mints, pins, and other odds and ends that may be needed was such a thoughtful touch. Staff- Our family made several comments of how great the staff was! Everyone was so nice and helpful! Lots of smiling faces and exceptional service! Mrs. Cindy really made sure to listen to every detail and made it happen! From set up to take down she was there and made it 10x better! She checked on us regularly throughout the evening and made sure every thing ran smoothly. Budget- One of the main reasons why we choose The Alexander Room was because they offer a "Special Events" package. Since we were not hosting a wedding, we had the option to customize a package that better fit our budget. We had the option to add on certain items should we have wanted them. Food- There was an array of food options to choose from for our event. Each item we choose was absolutely delicious and Mr. Timphony ( the owner), was the chef. The Gumbo was also delicious! All and all this was a 10/10. Not a single thing to complain about. I absolutely recommend The Alexander Room for any event! They have been such a pleasure to work with! The Alexander Room and Terrance is absolutely Metairie's best kept secret when it comes to Venues!

It's located near Lakeside Mall in Metairie and shares a parking lot with other businesses in the building. Parking was a breeze the morning I was there. When I arrived I was pleased with the attentive service I received from the staff. They had breakfast service set up buffet style and the food was good. Almost as soon as I sat down, I of course spilled my water. I swear, I'm as messy am eater as a 3 year old. As I was looking for napkins an employee noticed what was going on and swooped in to clean up. Lunch service was much the same. It was a health insurance seminar, so they were challenged to find appropriate foods, and did a pretty decent job. Deli sandwich fixings and gumbo. I might have gone with a grilled chicken and veggies option and maybe offered brown rice with the gumbo. Their options were very tasty though. The staff was good about clearing the tables and they were friendly. The room is large and was very clean. There were a few chandeliers and there was an available stage area. The bathrooms were adequate and clean, but there were no paper towels available. All in all it's a nice space. Sort of a blank canvas that, with some decorating, probably dresses up nicely. It was perfect for the daytime event that I attended.

Kelley was recommended to us by a mutual friend. We were planning a Thanksgiving family vacation…read morein New Orleans for a party of 10 people, ages ranging from 86 y/o to 12 y/o. We had already arranged our own accommodations 1 block from the French Quarter nearly a year in advance. New Orleans is a unique city and we wanted to experience it like a local while hitting the touristy destinations that everyone should see at least once (several of us had been there and had our own favorite experiences) - so deciding what we could pul off financially within in a week and getting reservations became a daunting task. Luckily I mentioned this to a neighbor in Miami Beach (where I live) and he immediately told us about his friend Kelley. He assured me she could help sort it out. Having traveled a lot, I've had mixed results using the concierge services at hotels so I would have never sought out a concierge service. Often in tourist destination cities like New Orleans I've been steered to places off the beaten path that were not good at all, or tourist destinations where the experience was sub par. I have come to the conclusion that recommendations often are based on where the concierge can get the best reward for the referral, rather than what the best place for my particular needs might be. By hiring Kelley this fear quickly disappeared. Given the extraordinary service provided, her fee was nominal and she put together a 10 page customized brochure for us with a map of the city highlighting the places she was suggesting specifically for us. Every suggestion was based on knowledge she had gained about the individual likes and dislikes of members of our group - no easy task to please diverse needs when dealing with strangers. One example of value she added - she pulled strings to get us inside the clubhouse on the finish line at the Fair Grounds for Thanksgiving Day for "opening day at the track" a New Orleans tradition we 1. would have never considered and 2. couldn't have pulled off on our own, as this books up in advance (she has connections). At her suggestion we all dressed up for the occasion and we fit right in. Great fun! Private dining rooms for 10 at Jacques Imo and Cafe Atchafalaya don't just appear out of thin air - she booked these for us and made it all happen. That little cocktail bar tucked away in a hotel just around the block from us became a regular hangout during down time - we would have NEVER found it if she hadn't clued us in. A couple of weeks before our trip one member of our party was hospitalized and it was touch and go whether or not we would be able to take the trip at all. We still hadn't finalized dinner reservations. I advised Kelley to hold off finalizing anything as I didn't want her to go to the trouble of making bookings she might have to cancel. A week before the trip everything was a go. Fortunately she had already taken the initiative to book us in the most popular places we had discussed to ensure we wouldn't be out of luck. During the trip we texted her for on the spot suggestions and help several times. She was always responsive, friendly and helpful. She even texted us during the trip a couple of times to let us know about just announced musical experiences and festivals in the Quarter. I could go on and on, but let's just say the adults had the experiences they wanted, the kids had plenty to do and had a great time, the mobility issues of one member of our party were taken into account by Kelley: She came up with a pedi-cab bar crawl (just ask her) so he could enjoy bar hopping without walking and advised us where to valet to avoid long walks at each destination. Everyone has raved about every suggestion she made. I finally met Kelley in person at the track, on Thanksgiving Day. It's great to have a knowledgeable, trusted friend who lives in a city your visiting. If you're headed to New Orleans and want to experience it like a local, I'm confident Kelley will create a memorable, personalized experience for you whether your a party of 1 or a major corporation. We felt guilty accepting her services at the fee she charged so we adjusted it to a price we could afford, but still know she put in hours of work beyond what we paid her. I can't recommend her highly enough. Clandestine sounds like it could be a bit naughty. Well, that's New Orleans for you. It also implies a secret - well, I'm letting the cat out of the bag.

However her team really went above and beyond when they noticed the rainy weather and began to scour the New Orleans area looking for all but sold out shrimp boots for 10 of us. Shrimp boots you ask? Well she correctly assumed the fair grounds would be a muddy disaster and she was right! While the rest of the tourists were slopping around in the mud like WoodStock in '69 my krewe was blasting through those puddles right to the front of the stage like a monster truck rally champ!!

Yes, you can have a Sweet 16 or a wedding here. But there's something else. Something I just discovered myself. On Sunday nights, from 7-10, The Jefferson Orleans North hosts The Pat Barberot Orchestra, which is a real big band. Not only that, but you can actually dance. Like...real dancing. Like the type of dancing that they did in the 40's and 50's where you actually hold someone close and move around the dance floor. I understand that the Jefferson Orleans has been holding these weekly dances since the 70's. My grandmother used to come here in the 80's. Also, and I just have to be honest, most of the people who actually go to dance are in their 70's, 80's and even 90's. And they are the most delightful people in the world and quickly make you realize that you are never too old for a spin around the dance floor. So, why do I like it here? Because when you are on the huge dance floor and listening to a real big band, you are transported to a different time. You're transported to a time when life was a bit simpler and the music was really good. Maybe you are thinking, "Well, that sounds good and all, but I don't know how to dance." Okay, well neither do I. I know the basic box step and a few small swing steps and that's about it. I'm not going to be winning any dancing contests any time soon. But I still have so much fun and all of the people who actually do know how to dance are always encouraging. The dancers at the Jefferson Orleans are so excited when younger people come in and I promised them that I would do my best to bring in new faces. So, that's where you come in. Put on your best dress or suit (yes, it's that type of vibe) and join us on a Sunday night at 6:30. If you want, feel free to shoot me a message and I will let you know when I will be there, so that you will see a familiar face. I guarantee that you will have a good time.

What's great about GNC is they handle all the set-up, secure the location, very detail oriented, and handle all the breakdown and cleanup! All you have to do is bring the alcohol or any preferred choice of beverage. Your reservation includes a two hour reservation with the set-up and you can pay for additional hours and guests if desired. Since this was for Valentine's Day it was just for my partner and I. We were placed at the Tree of Life and I was contacted the day of with all updates. When we parked in front of the tree, my partner and I were in absolute awe of the set-up. GNC had it beautifully set up and had the area reserved with a private picnic in action. There was a mini heat generator, champagne bucket, still and sparkling water bottles, our charcuterie and sweet board, pillows, lounge pillows, blankets, so many cute VDay details, and even a few lagniappes for us to enjoy. GNC is all about the details and the Assorted Boards charcuterie boards were delish! I highly recommend using them for special occasions, dates, or a large family and friend function. I'll definitely be using this upscale service again! BTW it is SUPER AFFORDABLE.
