A beautifully carved coffee table made from a tree trunk aught my eye, and may just appear on my Christmas list (I think way ahead)! It was a pleasure to wander around this tasteful airy shop. The owner was pleasant and the background classical music added to the overall ambiance of the environment.

This means for pretty stiff competition in a town this size! Bay Tree contends with the competition in two ways. For one it's carved out a bit of a niche in that it it's cornered the cottage garden sector of the market, as well as having branched out into gardening supplies and a few gift items. I really like this florist. It carrys a lot of blooms that I really appreciate. They aren't as showy as some of the exotic imports that we can get these days, but they are as equally impressive in their own particular way. The quality of the stock here is also excellent. I've had some bunches of flowers from here last a good three weeks... so they offer value for money too!

I ventured into the shop, which was quite small and not really big enough for browsing. The staff were all hard at work, putting together amazing floral arrangements. I did have a quick look around though, and saw that all the items in the window display were available to buy. They also had a range of gifts for sale, as well as a good selection of plant stands. The shop will provide flowers for all occasions, weddings being an obvious speciality.

Not only does this mean that they carry some great English (as well as foreign) blooms, but that they sell gift and decorative items like corn dollies, something that farming folk used to make in days of old to decorate their homes and churches, especially around harvest time. This is a beautiful little shop with a really friendly staff. They do all manner of bouquets for all kinds of occasions, including hand tying as well as more conventional displays. Their blooms are of a good quality and last for a good while.

However, the real plus is when you order flowers - for weddings, funerals, special occasions. The flowers are fantastic and the owner goes to great lengths to get everything perfect for the customer. I make wedding cakes and my brides have used this florist for their flowers on several occasions, including flowers for their cakes, and have always been pleased with the result.
