The hotel is very new and features wild bright colors and bold patterns. In the 1960s (way before my time) that style as called "groovy." As you walk in, you are greeted by a sea of white interspersed with bright colorful accent pieces like lamps and chairs. The pod seats in the lobby were especially popular. The dining area is directly adjacent to the lobby. You can purchase breakfast when booking your room and I would definitely recommend doing that. There are not many breakfast places nearby and the hotel's breakfast was quite good. Our room continued the wild 1960s white with wild colors trend. Everything was new and functioned perfectly. One thing we did not like was when you turn on the bathroom light, the translucent mirror from the bathroom lights up the bedroom. Another thing we didn't care for is the 10 minute walk to the downtown through an area that is industrial and run down. It's definitely a safe walk but not very attractive. The hotel is in an area that is rapidly being revitalized and that area may soon be cleaned up. Despite its minor negatives, we would definitely return to this hotel.

I didn't like that the carpet in our room had stains and luckily we always bring our own room slippers during our travels. The bed was comfy and the bed linens were clean. Our bathroom was fine was well. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from Hamburg Central Station or 10 minutes walk from "Steinstraße" U-Bahn station. The hotel is also close to Bus #3 stops but this bus line didn't run that often during our time in Hamburg.

I worked a lot while there, so I used the lobby and dining area as my office. Wifi is fast and reliable. They play good music downstairs, so I enjoyed working down there more than in my room. The rooms are okay sized and nice for one or two people. I was on the fourth floor and had a nice view of the "Hamburg needle." The only disappointment is that the TV's only play German shows with no subtitles. So it's entertaining the first night...but not so enjoyable the rest of the trip. The showers are nice, good power, and the entire property was extremely clean. Staff was nice. They have a 24 hour bar where you can get alcoholic beverages (beer/wine/booze), sodas, waters and juices. They also have some snacks (fruit, bars, microwavable food) if needed. The neighborhood has good budget dining options and is the hotel is a few blocks from the U-Bahn. I really liked the Superbude. I was told this one is in a better neighborhood than the others, which is important for me as a single woman traveling alone.

It's the kind of hotel where you will feel silly if you're in like, sweatpants. So you may want to dress just a tad nicer! Seems to be a lot of business people here. Besides the room, I loved the bar. It feels like a fun place to hang out. It's not stuffy and awkward like a lot of hotel bars. Though the immediate location may feel a bit empty, it's actually super close walking distance to everything. Fast walk to the river and historic area. I would love to stay here again.

A very nice, simple minimalist designed hotel centrally located. My company has a special…read morecorporate rate as the office is within the Emporio high rise. Pluses: The mattress was on the thinner side but comfortable. I've heard that they have a small gym, however, during my entire stay the gym was closed for renovations. They did have the option of the use of nearby hotel gyms, but with how cold the weather was I refrained. The room size was large including the bathroom with a large shower tub combo. Room was nice and clean too! The breakfast buffet was 12 Euro but pretty extensive with fruits, meats, eggs, pancakes, pastries, cereals, yogurt, etc. The H2O Restaurant & Bar had very affordable glasses of wine. Small refrigerator in the room. The heater kept me very very warm! Good curtains to keep out the light. My taxi was ready pretty much right outside after the front desk hung up the phone. Friendly staff. Location! Free wifi for multiple devices. Minuses: I was surprised to see that the comforters are so short here though! They are also separated by side (think two twin comforters for a king size bed) so one person gets one each. Luckily I was by myself, so I used both. They included for the bathroom - hand soap and built in bottles of shampoo and condition by Face Stockholm. I was surprised to see no hair conditioner though. And the shampoo left my hair a little flat. The lights are turned on and turned off by your keycard by inserting it in the slot by the door...all the lights! This was a pain honestly. There were times there was hallway noise, I think they may have staff working even in the middle of the night? I would give it a 3.5 but rounding up due to the fact I had a few more pluses rather than minuses. It's about a 10 minute or so walk from the majority of things to do (i.e. sightseeing attractions and shopping), but is located near some great restaurants, Rossmans, coffee shops and right next to the U-Bahn. Also, be forewarned the elevators here have blue lighting, which is trippy and not be a good idea to be drunk when staying here. The Scandic is a good option for staying in Hamburg...now if only they could get different comforters.

Lots of German people stay here. It is located less than a 10 minute walk from the Hamburg Hauptbahnhof (main train station) which is a 30 minute, 3.2 Euro, S-1 train ride from the Hamburg Airport. It is a 5 minute taxi ride to the Hamburg Harbor for cruise ships. It has a very simple, yet elegant restaurant where the beer and wine menu is very nice. The meals were fairly priced. Two people had two 0.5 liter draft beers and two very large wines along with two entrees for about 50 USD. The rooms are very well appointed and the bathrooms were great. The idea of a budget hotel conjures up all kinds of nasty thoughts for most Americans. Contrary to the classification, Ibis is not in the category of budget hotels. It just doesn't have all the frills like a gym, pool, etc. At around $130 with taxes per night, in the heart of Hamburg, this is a steal. Think about that price which includes a beautiful buffet breakfast including make your own waffles for two people. Awesome.

A very nice hotel for a fair price!…read more I stayed there for a weekend, booked about 5 month in advance. This is a new built hotel, just opened in november this year. Perfect location, walking distacne to central station are 5 minutes! also 5 minutes to the city center, 2 minutes to the library- very, very handy! Check-IN- no problems, very friendly staff. You can pay when checkn in or when you do the checkout. Breakfast is 10 €, I didn't try it out (cause a Schweinske is closeby and the best to do for breakfast in Hamburg). Clean, tidy rooms as you can see on the pics. In the bathroom where showergel and enough towels. No further extra's, which is fine to me. A lot of TV channels, one (fox) gave the possibility to switch so orignial sound, all others where synchronized to german... Maybe one thing I could complain about- the cleaning times. I was out for breakfast, shopping etc, when I came back at 4 p.m., my room was still not cleaned... Next to this building there is an ibis Budget, which is a cheaper version of it. If you are fine wiht less space, book a room there.
