I used to grow up not far from here and the decor reminded me of visits to my grandmother: mismatched prints of famous Worpswede painters, examples of the similarly renowned carved wooden furniture mixed in with (slightly) more contemporary furnishings.
A stay here is more like a visit to a remote relative than what you would expect from a conventional hotel. We convened here for a family reunion, so the setting was perfect. On arrival we were greeted with freshly baked plum cake - just like your mum used to make. Indeed, all the food is freshly prepared by the family who now run the hotel. Similar to many B&B's in England, meals are not a la carte.
The rooms are very basic and made me smile.
If you are after a more all mod cons hotel with a reception desk and room service, this place is not for you. There are probably a lot more fancy options in town. You get what you pay for and Galeriehotel Haar offers some attractive packages.
