Gus Cooper has been towing cars around Seattle since I was a little kid. When my van broke down and I needed a timely tow to my mechanic, the gentleman on the phone said they can send somebody out right away - - what a relief, as two other companies that had good Yelp reviews needed me to wait an hour or two. Having to call a tow truck is a lot like taking my car to a mechanic, wherein I usually do not know how much it is going to cost, but I need it done no matter what. Fortunately, not only was Gus Cooper able to send somebody out right away and the truck driver was very courteous, but also the charge was less than half of what I had been quoted by a different local company. My car wouldn't start and called AAA. They sent out a flat bed truck from Gerber trucking, but my car was in an assigned covered parking spot and he couldn't get the car out of the spot. Next, Ballinger towing came with a different truck, super nice driver, but no dice!! Couldn't get it out. AAA then called Cooper and within 15 minutes he had tried jumping it, then figured out how to pull it out and get it loaded, and did i mention how nice, polite and professional he was???? Totally honest company! Took my work vehicle in because I thought the brakes were going out and told them such. Told them to please make sure it's safe to drive since I use it quite often. They could have just replaced the brakes and charged me for it and I'd have never known. Oil was due for a change, but they told me the pads had plenty of life in them and didn't need to be replaced, they topped off certain fluids, replaced windshield wipers and a couple other minor things. When I was cashing out, the dude was super friendly, gave me a timeline for when certain things would need to be checked out again and sent me on my way. My car battery died in my uphill driveway, making it impossible to jump with another car. I called Gus Coopers and within five minutes a very cordial young man arrived with a jumper system and got the car started. He was incredibly fast - it took longer to run the credit card than it did to get the car going. And very nice! A wonderful experience. Today our daughter had a break down in our car, We called AAA to get the car towed. We were assigned to Gus Coopers Services for the tow. Yes towing is everyday service but these folks went out of their way to keep us informed as to where they were, when they would pick up the car and when they would arrived. When a friend in Mikulteo told me today their truck needs a new transmission, I reminded her of my adventure.... Early December 2007, I made an appointment at a place near me in Ballard, and had AAA tow my car. When we arrived, they were dirty, rude, and not what I needed. The driver suggested "a much better place", and called ahead to explain the situation. End of the week, no appointment yet when we got to the Shell station, Dino Cooper and the guys were professional, nice, funny and reassuring. My Nissan 240 SX was repaired as soon as the parts arrived, and everything was perfect: Dino charged me $800.00 (less then his original quote) yet the dealership near Des Moines had quoted me $2,000. Then on Christmas morning, something different happened with the car and there I was, aimed uphill, on that curve near 46th, half blocking a lane and somebody's driveway, and then it started to snow (yes, really) but the tow truck driver stopped everything when I called the station and came to the rescue. ABUSIVE SERVICE. AAA sent a driver to jump my car. As I was coming from work to have the car jumped, a friend brought me. I told dispatch that it would take me 15 minutes to get there to meet the tow truck. He got there 3 minutes early, called me and demanded to know where I was. I told him that I would be there in no more than 3 minutes, at which point he got angry. When I got there, he yelled, "Pop your goddamned hood." WORST customer service ever. When I told him, "Don't be rude to me," he sped off and left me stranded. I still am shocked at what happened here. I couldn't have been more clear to dispatch about my timeline, and even told them that they could take their time in getting there as I brought a book to read while I waited. UNBELIEVABLE. read more

After stressing out about my car not starting after I had recently replaced the battery, the awesome people at Gus Cooper made it really easy to set up a towing appointment. They arrived early for my appointment and all I had to do was give them the key and they had my car out within ten or fifteen minutes. I was able to pick it up the same day, and was given an overview of what they checked in my car and how they fixed it, and they told me not to hesitate to call them again if anything else went wrong. Today one of their methed out-looking tow truck drivers was barreling through residential Ballard, down streets where small children were playing, at an alarming speed. I called Gus Cooper's to have my car towed from where it died in North Seattle, back to my house in South Seattle. The people on the phone were friendly and gave me accurate information. The only gripe I have (and it's a minor one) is that they would not just meet me at my car at a certain time. They made me drive to my car and call them when I got there before they would send someone out. I ended up waiting for about 45 minutes. I understand why they need to do that - I'm sure they've been screwed before when someone said they would meet them and then didn't show up. The tow driver was very courteous and was an excellent driver. He took good care of me and my car and got us all home safe and sound. And the price was very reasonable. Recommended! read more

Went here for an oil change and to have a couple things looked at. Showed up without and appointment and they were very accommodating. Were honest and up front about the work that needed to be done, and instead of making extra $$ off me they told me that the work I needed could wait a while. When I picked my car up later that afternoon it had been washed and vacuumed at no extra cost! Highly recommend these guys, they are the best. Super happy with how friendly they were and quickly they got my car in and out. My car wouldn't start on a Friday night (not a dead battery), and needed to get towed Saturday because I was parked in an area I'd get towed on Sunday. They were one of the only places in town open on Saturday so I gave them a call at about 8:00 am. The guy who answered the phone initially didn't know what time they'd be able to get back to me but it was no more than an hour he called me back and said the tow truck had arrived. The guy was nice, and said I'd hear from the guys in the shop on Monday. By Monday at about 9:30 am they have me a run down of everything, again, super friendly. I must have gotten the same person NICOLE D. got in her review. It was an older man who was not friendly, never smiled and bordered on rude. I asked him to look at the damage on one of my tires he was there to swap out with the spare and told him I thought it was vandalism. He told me he thought I had rubbed a curb. I explained that in the sun, we were in the shade, black tire with deep hole , you could see quite clearly a hole inside the missing chunk the exact shape and size of a flat head screw driver but he was only interested in telling me I was wrong and would NOT LOOK at the hole for me in proper light. When he got the tire off and replaced he did not show any interest in checking the damage to see what it was but ditched me as fast as possible. When he was finished switching the tires out he threw the damaged tire into the spare tire well and threw in the securing parts on top and went to leave. I said" Aren't you going to clamp it down for me ?" he answered " Well, you are going to take it to the tire shop now." I said " NO I am not, I am going to use it for the spare." It was not leaking air. His response was " Why Not ?!" Now I called for help with the tire not to be told how to run my life. I think that if this man has a problem dealing with women he should find a job where he does not have to be around us. That would make for happier female customers in the future. He was hostile from the get-go and I was very uncomfortable around him as he was totally closed off. I will NOT be using your services in the future, and am calling AAA to ask them to make a note on my account NOT to send anyone from your company again. Ladies be warned! read more

Great service shop! You'd never know it from driving passed (it's attached to a shell station). These guys are great. They can frequently do basic services the same day. I took my Subaru there for an oil change a few months back. They were quick and even replaced a burned out license plate bulb at no cost that they happened to notice. The best part: when I picked up my car they had washed the exterior and clean and vacuumed the interior!! read more
