They made big mistake with my order but they were great at owning up to it and showed exemplary service in doing so. They got the grape vine wraps which goes great with fries. I will go back just for this. Keep in mind shawarma on weekdays may not be freshly grilled but kept in containers they scoop out of, or regrilled. But the beef shawarma good either way. Sauces for sharwarma in addition to regular sauces they have there is also a yogurt like sauce addition that give great taste. But all the side toppings does lean toward the saltier side. I'd recommend asking to replace all with rice. Lettuce on weekday seems a bit old, brown and yellow spots... try to go on weekends Eggplant dip bought separately tasted sadly underwelming but might be a thing for some people. I had much tastier eggplant dips especially the canned ones. Theirs seems home made. Their food is decent 3/5 and service 4/5. You will feel people working there cares, unlike Made in Mexico on main st new location in my recent trip. For competing sharwarma there is always Sharwarma Land on Yonge st to try around ten min drive south. The lack of fresh veggies and meat on weekdays sadly lowers rating.

CheeZaatar - Mixed pies

CheeZaatar

My cycling pal and I found this place on a ride out along Etobicoke Creek near the airport. What a…read morediscovery! On my first visit, I ate an entire CheeZaatar. The bread is so fresh and hot and the cheese just perfect and the zaatar so lemony from the sumac and perfectly crunchy sesame seeds and spices.. just yum!! We decided to come back with friends so we could eat more and try more! So, on the second visit we shared Zaatar with labneh and vegetables, cheese Musakhan and Fatteh. The veggies on the zaatar were olives, tomatoes and cukes. The labneh was nice and the zaatar was good as usual, but I think I missed the classic cheezaatar a bit. The musakhan was a flatbread with chicken and caramelized onions, cheese and slivered almonds and some pomegranate seeds. Very tasty combo. The revelation for me and a dish I'd never tried before was Fatteh - WOW! It's a chickpeas and yogurt mixture with garlic (warm), topped with beef and cashews! Such a rich savory dish with velvety textures that blend perfectly. The portion was very generous as well. A great sharing dish. We ordered Kunafa for dessert, which did take quite a long time to make, but it was prepared fresh. It was cheese enveloped by these crunchy strings of pastry and the whole was soaked in a sweet syrup. Texture was delightful and it was a fabulous end to our meal. This place is bustling. You order at the counter but are served at your table. It's casual but it's not fast food. It's very to see the flatbreads being made right there in the huge oven.

Tarboosh Restaurant wasn't on my radar at all, but after Suresh Doss gave it a hearty…read morerecommendation, we figured we should stop by and check it out. We arrived around noon on a recent Saturday and the place was completely empty. A group of four fairly loud men showed up shortly after us and inexplicably sat at a table near us, but that's obviously not the restaurant's fault. The menu contained plenty of tasty-looking entrees, but I figured I'd grab the dish with the name of the restaurant in it: the Tarboosh ("Combination of shawarma and falafel"). The concoction arrived to the table quite a while later, which was weird considering how empty the joint was, and sure looked impressive. I dove right in. Everything on the plate was tasty but not mind-blowing. The chicken shawarma had a few crispy pieces, which was appreciated, but was mostly unreasonably dry. (The two included sauces helped with that, at least.) The falafel was fresh but strangely light. It didn't really have a strong flavor of anything, really. I enjoyed eating it, but it definitely didn't remind me of traditional falafel. The hummus was creamy but lacking in a strong chickpea flavor (i.e. the concoction was overwhelmed by tahini, essentially). However, once I began eating everything together, I began enjoying everything a lot more. The included bread help, too, even though it was far from the best middle-eastern bread I've ever had. Tarboosh is a mixed bag, that's for sure. If you're in the area, it's worth a try. I don't think I would travel to far to check it out, though.
