Alex is my go to associate. He seems to know his guitars and is a great listener. You should know I was merchandise, operational and customer service director of 92 Macy's shoe departments for 37 years and know quality service. Guitar Center is lucky! A note on the manager. I went there in hopes of hearing a couple digital pianos in hopes of finding one to purchase. I even had an idea of which one I was most interested in. There were only two associates in the store. One didn't acknowledge me and the other didn't have a clue about pianos or their inventory. I went into the keyboard area and saw a bunch of unsupervised kids just banging away on these expensive keyboards; no one was supervising them??? So my trip to this store was a waste. They also had limited inventory. read more

I visit this GC occasionally and each time the staff has been helpful and mostly friendly. You can tell they are struggling with staffing so those who are there are a bit more stressed or new and lack experience. Product selection is good for a smaller GC but could be better with accessories like guitar pedals. The manager is nice and worked with me to fix an issue with a guitar at no cost that I bought that was outside the return timeframe. read more

So I visited this store today a little skeptical after reading some of the reviews on how poor the customer service was. At first no one asked if they could help me find anything until I went up to someone and asked one very nice gentleman, he got a guitar I was looking at down and hooked up to an amp for me try out. After I played a couple more and made my selection with a couple other items the manager bundled everything up for me and marked down some prices and saved me over 100 dollars! I was very pleased with their selection of guitars and accessories. If you just ask for help the staff is more than willing to help out with any questions. read more

No one would even acknowledge us. We were there to get some basic woodwind items and no one was in the area and no one was working but the guitar repair guy and he disappeared. And the one other guy was helping with a guitar One customer was wanting to buy a $700 guitar and left when I did. I will order online next time. read more

Great store. They literally have everything you need. As a musician, you'll find yourself able to spend hours in the store playing with everything like a little kid. I purchased an iRig, Microphone, Drum Stick Caddy, and a mic cable. Upon getting in my car, Jake called me to let me know that I forgot the cable on the counter! Whew. My 4-year-old daughter began asking for piano lessons, (I know, shocking, right?) and so we began to explore the idea of purchasing a digital piano instead of an acoustic - an admittedly preferable solution, according to most instructors. After doing our homework and thoroughly researching strengths, pitfalls, compromises, and options, we decided to purchase locally rather than online, for the sake of that 'last-mile' guidance. We went to Guitar Center. After our salesperson, Angelina, helped us put together a discounted solution, and thoughtfully guided us through the process, we thought we were all set, but when we got home to St. Louis, we discovered that the keyboard stand was an ill-suited solution, and the bench was just not a good fit for our daughter. And so I called to discuss a solution with the Store manager, Jackie, who said they'd take care of us and to just come over at our convenience. Not only did Jackie and Angelina take great care of us, but a third sales person we hadn't met in the first visit, was super interested in seeing that we were thrilled. I know the team went out of their way to make us happy, and we do appreciate it. Highly recommend this store and applaud the efforts of Jackie to make it right. She probably wasn't thrilled with the margins on this sale, but she made a long-term customer of our family, and the lifetime value of that business will offset, many time over, this short-term pain. Good business managers understand lifetime client value. Jackie gets it. read more

All of the staff I've ever dealt with here have been very helpful. Not once have they ever tried to steer me towards or away from a piece of gear based on price. (With the exception of a few deals or specials they may be running.) When I ask someone for their honest opinion on a guitar or amplifier, that's what I get: and contrary to what many might believe, it's nice to hear an employee occasionally say things like, "That's not really my thing, but it's if you like what you hear. Not me." That said, this is Guitar Center. So as you might expect, you get a lot of Fenders, a lot of Gibsons...and not much selection from other brands. They carry the occasional Music Man, or you might find a Danelectro from time to time. But it won't be often. (And I've never seen a Carvin or Minarik anywhere near the place, though that is a bit of a stretch.) And their cycle rate is slow for my taste, so I tend to see much of the same gear when I stop by. Then again, it's their job to stock what sells and what's popular, so you can't fault them too much for optimizing their inventory. As it is, I still manage to find a (personal) gem here on occasion, and the hunt just makes finding "the one" all the sweeter. read more

We were at the store a couple of weeks ago, late afternoon. Not busy at all, only a couple cars in the parking lot outside. My teenage son was with me, he's interested in learning how to play a bass guitar and needs help getting started. Not one staff member at the shop so much as welcomed us to the store, not even a "sup" as another reviewer received. We were in the shop about 20 minutes, walking around, checking out equipment and generally looking "lost" - no offers to help, no one asking if we needed assistance - NADA. This would have been a large purchase (bass, amp, accessories), but I'd rather go spend it at a store where we at least feel welcome as customers and are treated with some respect instead of an overall rude and disappointing attitude. Worst Guitar Center I've ever visited. I went there to purchase a guitar but couldn't get anyone to assist me. I ended up driving to the Guitar Center in St Louis, over 20 miles away to buy the guitar. I decided to try them again because I need a guitar stand and picks. I asked for assistance several times but the two salesmen I asked were too busy yucking it up. No other customers were around so they weren't busy, just rude. read more

I was there looking for a guitar for 45 minutes only to get a "sup" from one of the four guys at the front desk when I first walked in. It wasn't even busy and no one else even acknowledge me or offered to help. It's a shame because I was looking at $1300 Taylor. I doubt I will ever return. read more

Been waiting on two tubes to be changed in my amp for almost 3 months now. I will not be taking any equipment here to be worked on anymore.

It is okay, but the one in Bridgeton is better in my opinion on inventory, but they are much more interactive and friendly in Fairview heights read more
