I stopped in again after a year or 2. Went for the 3 meat plate. The BBQ sauce too sweet for my taste. I was given 2 chicken legs the size of Cornish hens. 1 rib bone about 2 inches long. A sausage link maybe 3 inches long. Spicy boudin that was dried out. 1 Homemade Sausage that I just couldn't eat. And a sliced beef sandwich. I can say the meats. Things got off to a rough start when our food took an unusually long time to arrive. Considering that most BBQ is already prepared and simply needs to be sliced and served, the wait didn't make much sense. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for it. As a born and raised Idahoan I realized I have never had real barbecue before but My Oh My! The food was delicious! The boudin was excellent! Walking in, we didn't know what to order so the cashier and another worker helped us decide. We decided on 1/2 pound for 3 meats: brisket, ribs, and sausage. Total was about $40! The brisket was so soft! The black skin threw me for a loop as I've never eaten anything really truly smoked but there was no burnt taste, only soft, tender, juicy brisket. The sausage was my personal favorite, I'd love to throw these in a seafood boil. Sweet and salty, perfect snap texture. The ribs were soft and sweet. Oh, man. The universe was really looking out for me when I happened to be in the area and Google for some food. I was not expecting to eat this well today. In my opinion, Houston hasn't become known as a food mecca because of fine dining or all of the other well-known bbq spots that are good at marketing themselves like Blood Bros, Pinkerton, etc. Houston has become a food mecca off of the strength of places like Guillory's that are located in not well-known areas or places that get a lot of traffic, but serve the best food you could imagine. I got moist brisket despite forgetting to ask, thanks to the owner, who is so kind and has such good energy. The father and son duo that own and operate the restaurant are so personable, kind, and funny. They genuinely cared how our dining experience was going and had great conversation. Now onto the food! Professional service.Clean service counter and small well lit dining room. I came for the Boudin. Ordered 1 spicy link and 1 stuffed Boudin link. I have tried a few different boudin and boudin preparations over the years but never had a stuffed one before. The gentleman at the store opened up my take out box to show me the stuffed boudin. It was split open he explained and topped with sour cream, cheese, chopped bbq brisket and green onions. I tasted this at home and it was delicious and a big portion for $10. I also had the spicy boudin link. This was a bit bigger than the links I've had in other places. I thought it was a little under seasoned. As I was leaving I saw a sign for homemade links. I was told these are Beaumont links and that they were different from the sausage at other places. I was intrigued by that and I'll have to come back to try it. Found this place on YELP, liked the reviews and decided to give them a try......I'm glad I did! The parking lot was clean, as was the walkway in front of the restaurant and inside the restaurant. The son promptly greeted me and gave me time to peruse the menu. I got the (3) meat special which includes 2 ribs, chicken and sausage along with 2 sides. On the recommendation of the son, I chose the baked beans and potato salad.....both delicious. So that I could try all of their meats, I had them add some brisket to my plate for an additional $3.50. I also tried a link of boudin, which I'll taste tomorrow. All of the meats were well seasoned and tender. I also liked their bbq sauce which is slightly spicy. My husband brought us here for lunch during the week. It's located in SWAT inside a small strip center next to a barbershop. The restaurant inside and out was clean, with plenty of seating for dining. There was zydeco music playing which gave a lively atmosphere. We ordered the daily special which included 2 pork ribs, quarter chicken, quarter sliced sausage link, 2 slices of buttered Texas toast and 2 sides. We sat down to eat, the food came out right away. The bbq had a delicious hickory flavor, and toasted with buttered versus plain out the bag was a nice touch! Customer service was excellent. They explained the menu, had patience, asked us how the food was and spoke to us for a bit. The food is definitely your backyard kinda barbecue. Everything was juicy, tender, flavorful and fresh. It's a small family business of a father, son and uncle. They've been in that location for a few years prior to having a food truck.
