I decided to enroll at the Academy of Computer and Employment Skills (ACES) which offers many key courses related to office work. ACES is a subsidiary of Working Skills Centre (WSC). After a period of unemployment, ACES provided me all the training I needed to get a diploma and find gainful employment in my area of interest. I did the Administrative Assistant program and honestly, I was happily surprised at how in-depth the courses were. Upon completion of the computer courses in this program, you will also be prepared to test for the Microsoft Office Specialist certificate if you choose to. ACES's instructors are highly knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. They go out of their way to help you with program work and with navigating life difficulties throughout the duration of your course if needed. In the Admin Assistant program, all of the courses are studied from basic to an advanced level. Prior to graduation, you will undergo intense job search training with in-house and guest expert lectures and, assistance with resumes, cover letters, networking, etc. They will provide job leads where possible and even call employers on your behalf. In other words, you get very strong job search support which continues for six months after you've graduated. I recommend ACES's programs without hesitation, to any one wanting to get a new start or to upgrade their skills set. The only thing I found lacking in the program (hence four stars) was social/digital media but I was recently told that adding this to the program is in the works. I will also add, this school has a distinctly no-pressure vibe which of course comes down from an ace staff! I have have some other courses I want to take there and happily, they offer them part-time in the evenings. ~MJ

I learned a lot of different accounting software and can safely say I'm very comfortable navigating…read morethrough them. If you're looking to be an accountant, these skills can definitely help you with most accounting positions. They were even able to find me a good volunteer position as an accountant. Also before you come here, it is a given that you know the basics of accounting to clearly understand what exactly you are doing. The instructors there are very nice and will teach you but be sure that they have a limited time to teach everything. Overall it was a great experience but since I was in a class format, learning at my own personal pace wasn't exactly met most of the time.

The training that they provide for such softwares like Quickbooks, Sage Accounting, Profile,…read moreCaseWare and Excel appear useful. However, haven taken all these software I believe that the most useful and beneficial was the QuickBooks and Sage Accounting. Profile, Caseware and Excel wasn't that helpful. We were given very brief training on these softwares. If I had to suggest, then I would say take the Quickbooks and Sage Accounting courses only. There was in depth training on these and Accountants are really helpful.

And when you say you cannot afford the courses they pitch you, they insist you can by resorting to your assets and or line of credit. Save your money, time and energy. Even if you have the money, time or energy. Who in their right mind would drop 20-40k just to copy someone. Absolutely ridiculous Also check out reviews from other campuses.
