This review is only based on the playground. It was fine but pretty average. With the size of the park, we were expecting the playground to be bigger. My 2.5 year old enjoyed himself, but was bored with the playground parts in about 10 minutes and just wanted to swing. Also, the playground parts are not shaded, so make sure to wear sunscreen. read more

weird hours that aren't posted clearly enough online. We went there for an afternoon swim after having packed up our whole family and car and they were ending any opportunity for families to swim at 4 PM. While in the parking lot I called to double check, and the phone was answered by a girl who sounded young and rudely, told me that the swimming time for families was done and that I should've checked online. Love the park, but whomever's idea it was to close all the soccer fields and football field for maintenance from May 22nd - August 1st is just an idiot. Why close down majority of your fields at the same time during SUMMER TIME as opposed to half and half, or anything besides all at once. New playground is a blast, old playground could use some updates some of the rides are deteriorating.

I really wanted to like this park. It's perfectly located, very shady. But both times we visited there were multiple dog owners who just let their dogs poop and didn't clean it up (and yes, they did see it happen). If this park gets "crappy" reviews because of dog excrement then careless dog owners are the reason. Such a shame. Dog owners.... Clean up after your pets!!!! read more

I am not much of a beach person, and prefer to hide in the shade. Even on a nice sunny day, it is better to watch the sun come through the trees than have it beating down and burning my face. Behind the dog park and amphitheater is a beautiful wooded oak hammock with some pavilions and a winding paved path, which is where I spend most of my time. I believe it is a 1/4 mile walk. GT Bray Park is basically the only "real" park in Bradenton. I know, I know- if you look at the Manatee County Parks website it shows that there are many parks. But, most of them are tiny or a single picnic table along the water or beach. GT Bray is an all encompassing mega park and recreation center with multiple pools, fields, dog park, and gym. There are even trees in select areas! Yes, folks real trees in Bradenton, FL that are not burned by the sun. There are multiple entrances to the park, either on foot or in a car. Since it is Bradenton, there are many homeless people that live on bicycles. You will see them parked under the amphitheater checking out the families that have rented pavilions and doing their BBQ business. I also find it very interesting that it costs money to use the pavilions for public use, according to the website they should be reserved and run about $50 plus tax. read more

This is one of the best parks I have ever been to. They have 2 pools, one of which is deep enough that I learned scuba diving there. They have a splash station for kids, too. There is a skate park, plenty of fields for soccer, baseball, and football, and even a tennis court or two. There is a big shaded section with picnic tables and kids playground with a Frisbee golf course wrapped around it. Two dog parks are on the property, as well. The grounds are beautiful and expansive. They have camps and daycare and classes and everything you can think of. The only part I dislike is that the passes are a little expensive. My family would absolutely love this place if they weren't so pricey. Everything else is pretty awesome. The people there are also cool. read more

I love this park! The outside activities are beautiful, great for families. The amenities are great for a whopping $25 dollars a month no contract or gym clean fee you end up stuck with. I bring my child to the daycare where Stephanie watches my son, Stephanie is very personable with my child. I couldn't be more happy that I have this gym so close to my home. My 84 year old mother used to take her medium sized dog here all the time. She had both knees replaced a few years ago and was no longer able to take her on walks so had gotten into the habit of driving over to GT BRAY and letting her roam around off leash.. For the last year she has been saying that she is hesitant to go anymore because there is a group of people who sit at the picnic tables socializing and they allow their dogs to roam around unchecked, not cleaning up the excrement etc... She also mentioned their dogs seem to be getting aggressive. I was visiting recently and decided to go with her one afternoon to check it out. We took her dog walking on a leash around the inside perimeter. There were only us and a group of approximately 5-6 people sitting at one of the picnic tables. First, yes, I noticed quite a bit of dog feces lying around.... And second, yes, a pack of large dogs came running up somewhat aggressively and swarmed us. A fight broke out and we actually had to defend ourselves against them! I could not get to her dog in time and one of these aggressive dogs bit through and ripped her lip. We had to race her to the Vet immediately and couldn't stop to take names or find out who owned the dogs... When I went back two hours later, none of them were present. The incredulous thing about this situation was that the group of people sitting at the table never got up to assist, just sat there watching it all. It was pretty shocking. It makes me wonder what might have happened if my elderly mother had been alone. I would strongly recommend that everyone NOT stop going to this dog park. Take your dogs as often as you can but go in pairs or groups. If any altercations happen don't approach these people..simply take your phone out and snap a pic or video these people. Turn them in. Don't let this group of dog park terrorist get what they want, which I believe is a place for their very own enjoyment and everyone else is unwelcome. Register a complaint with the GT BRAY P&R Management EVERYTIME something like this happens. The squeaky wheel will get some attention. If they receive consistent complaints they will have to start monitoring the situation and it should help them transform this formerly beautiful dog park back into a safe environment for the entire community and their dogs, not just a few low class bullies. Another alternative is if someone knows anyone who writes for the Bradenton Times to report this to them. Perhaps they could investigate what the management at GT Bray is doing in response to any complaints and what their plan is to keep their property safe and clean for everyone. read more

The idea of a dog park is not unusual in this area, but the execution of a dog park at GT Bray leaves very much to be desired. The fenced areas for large and small dogs are a little on the smaller side, and they are proverbial minefields of un-bagged doggie doo. I have been only a few times, but almost as ever present as the smell of dog-do in the air, is the certainty that there will the equally ever present unregulated pit bull, trying to fight and/or hump everything. Shame really, as they seem to have a crowd of "regulars" that seem nice enough, but even they seem all to ready to offer the excuse "oh, he's just playing" as their pet exhibits classic aggressive behavior. All things being equal, I'll will forego this park in the future in lieu of somewhere filled with people who have actually seen an episode of the dog whisperer. read more

My experience with their swimming lessons is that they are a waste of time and money. Before I signed her up, I spoke with people "in charge" on three different occasions about my granddaughter's need for lessons where she can learn the basic strokes. She's a strong swimmer but needs some order in her style. They assured me she would be evaluated and put in the right group. They put her in with kids much younger than her and she is doing exactly the same thing she does in my condo pool for free. I tried to talk to one of the instructors but he put me down in an intimidating manner, saying, "We know what we're doing. She's in the right group." The instructor in her group didn't even know her name even though she referred to the other kids by name. How humiliating for a nine-year-old in front of five and six-year-olds! The park is fine - just don't waste your kid's time on their swimming lessons, or your time and money. read more

Small classrooms and over crowded, however, the gym/basketball court is usually empty or only 3-4 kids playing. I guess the 3-4 kids can't play basketball outside or after school. They no longer have Zumba classes at night. If you have plenty of time to show up at a class 30 minutes early GT Bray may work for you. There are plenty of classes during the day. Don't waste your money if you work during the day because you'll never get into a class. There are plenty of other places to go. I'm done with GT Bray. Front desk attitude needs improvement. read more
