The biggest and most important reason to stay here - why the Maritim TitiseeHotel stays in business…read moreas well as it does - is it's gorgeous location. You are on the shores of the Titisee, with postcard-esque views of the lake and the Black Forest around it. Other than the small town sharing your beachshore, it's all wonderfully undeveloped. The hotel is also a quick stroll away from downtown Titisee-Neustadt and you'll be able to dine and shop away from the hotel within an easy 5 minute stroll.
However, take away the fantastic location and the amazing view, and you're left with a hotel that is pricey and underwhelming. Without question, the staff is friendly, English-fluent, and accomodating. The interior has a rustic wood cabin theme but some of the amenities seem like they came from the same time that inspired the architecture. Everything feels old and tired. Rooms aren't very well insulated so you hear everything. The rooms are small, the furniture worn, but it is all very clean. Elevators are small, so if possible, use the stairs. There is a pool and fitness center-slash-game room on the lower level but it doesn't appear to be well taken care of. T-Mobile offers Wi-Fi in the hotel but the signal only ever worked well in the lobby.
The bar is also a conundrum. Like the hotel, the staff in the bar is friendly But the awkward layout of the bar means that larger parties will have a difficult time finding places to sit. And if there is a sporting event on the television, you might be better off watching it in your room. The restaurant in the lobby has a full German breakfast spread every morning and it's quite nice.
The location and the views justify the price you pay to stay here but, considering other Maritim locations, there's certainly room to improve.
