ESCAPETHEROOMers first escape room in Copenhagen, Denmark gave us a very nice surprising welcome…read more Escape Room København - Down The Rabbit Hole is an experience like no other. From the way they worded the game confirmation letter (informing you the mission to come), to the game master's welcoming (playing the role of the professor's assistant), to the lobby decor, and finally to the game itself. Right when we entered the "lobby", the design felt like someone's apartment (in this case, the professor's). You are then led to a dining room where there's tea and coffee prepared for you (if you like to have the full experience, they also serve dinner). This game has a minimum booking number of 3 people so with 2 people it was a bit challenging. However, we made it out with a few seconds to spare! You can also now book with a team of 12 as they have two identical rooms that can fit 6 each. The "welcoming" took about 15 minutes and then the game master will debrief you as you enter the actual escape room. The storyline is that you are at Professor Julius' office and he's late to meet you, so you start your detective work and finding out what he has been up to since he's traveled to so many places in the world. During your discovery, secrets unveil and things are just not what they seem. There may be a little bit of a language issue because the whole time we thought the game master was in character and that our game started already. We took every word that she said literally as if it were hints of some sort. So, at one point we took the key from the bathroom thinking it would open something in the apartment, but that key was actually a real bathroom key. As we started our game in the actual escape room, there were definitely a few fun puzzles that we've never seen before. I would just like to say that one of the owners is definitely an animal lover. If he could get more animals to be incorporated into the game, he would! We like how there weren't too many red herrings in the room. We were able to correlate the hints easily with the puzzles. During the game, we ran into a little hearing issue (maybe due to the language again) and was able to understand the hints. The hint system is also on an iPad and it's quite fast when you need it. As we were getting close to the end, we ran into a little language barrier again with a translation. I think we got lucky with one of the solutions, but it would be helpful if they can have the translations in English. Other than that, we really enjoyed the "surprise" elements of the room and the design. It was very on point and stuck with the storyline. Currently, Escape Room København - Down The Rabbit Hole only has one game at their location - "Korowai - A Professors Tale". We hope to see more innovative ideas from them in the future as they have a full team of creative people and you will not be disappointed if you try this game while visiting Copenhagen. *For more info, check out my Yelp profile.

Had we done our research, we might have realized we were walking along the edge of Kastellet, a super cool star-shaped fortress. Instead, we just wandered through the park, getting impressed by the gorgeous greenery, the well kept trails, the ducks and water, the statues and fountains. There was some kind of crazily attractive church in there, too. Just an ongoing feast of lovely things that made the walk more memorable than the actual Little Mermaid. We don't have parks like Churchillparken where I live. If we did, I might get outside more often. This was a splendid place, peaceful and full of beautiful sights, and it didn't even seem like a particular tourist destination. I'm glad we stumbled on it while we were in town. You Copenhageners sure are lucky.

With its distinctive spiral ramp, the Round Tower has become a Danish landmark. Here are some notable facts and points of interest: 1.The Hollow Core: the shape of the tower was Denmark's geographical zero point. 2. There is an Observatory which houses a telescope built in 1929. 3. The Library Hall is used for changing exhibits, cultural events and concerts 4. The Spiral Ramp will get you to 10,000 steps easily; it is the only way to the top of the tower and spins 7 1/2 times around the Tower's hollow core. Believe me, you feel those twists as you climb. 5. The Bell Loft is situated above the Library Hall and two floors above the Trinity Church where the bells have rung for hundreds of years. 6. The Platform: once you climb the narrow stairs you are atop and can see all of Copenhagen's charms and Sweden. During the summer there is a kiosk that sells sweet treats 7. The Planetarium: shows the solar system I highly recommend visiting Rundetaarn. It is located in Norreport; beautiful shops and restaurants. Plus, it was raining so a good way to wait it out while taking in the sights. You walk up a gentle spiral to get a nice view of the city. Along the way, there are rooms you can stop in for art exhibitions, a view of the actual church (there was service going on when we were there), random alcoves, refreshments, and even the toilet. The place is clean and it wasn't overly crowded when we went on a weekday in the afternoon. Because of the gentler slope, it's friendly for all ages. The view isn't very high, but it's still pretty good! There are little "benches" along the way - in case you do need to rest or plan the next stop of your day. A good place to stop by to get a view of the city!

We went in with a level of excitement but as soon as we made it underground, and away from the light of the entrance, the mood changed and we were completely immersed within another time and dimension. While the architecture and history alone make the space worth visiting, the current exhibit pulls out from within you, emotions and awareness you may not have ever harnessed. It is truly, truly, something you must see! I had researched the Cisternerne for quite some time prior to our trip, and it lined up perfectly with our morning at the zoo, as it was right across the street. The park above the exhibit is absolutely beautiful, and lends no insight to what lies below it.

Built in the middle of the 19th century, this underground reservoir once supplied the entire city with drinking water. Once abandoned, the space is now an exhibition space. 2) Art: My friend and I went when Tomás Saraceno did his "Event Horizon" exhibit. Rowing a little boat through the exhibit, you're asked to remain silent and be present as you go through the water. You'll pass art that creates light and sound adding to the space's darkness. It's so unique! 3) Location: It's right next to the Frederiksberg Palace, a yellow 1735 palace with gardens that are popular with walkers and runners. Take time before or after the Cisternerne to explore the area. If you go, note that rowing is at your own pace. They recommend 40 minutes, but once you reach the end, you're done! My friend and I felt like we were rowing slowly, but it only took us 20 minutes. We felt like we didn't get the full experience. We wished we had stopped at more spots to sit and enjoy the exhibit.

While the Frederiksberg Have is big enough to have an actual castle, Søndermarken is also impressive and enormous. I only saw one part of it, and it was the part containing The Cisterns, a reservoir/dripstone cave/subterranean art exhibition space that once held the city's drinking water. Nothing you could hide under a humble neighborhood park where I live. We came here on rented bikes, and it was nice to ride through this glorious scenery. The path was smooth and clean, and the lawn was an incredible uniform green. It seemed to extend for a mile, interrupted only by a fountain and the twin entrances to The Cisterns, which protruded like mini Louvre pyramids. We didn't spend much time in the actual park, but its beauty did not escape us. I'm glad The Cisterns enticed us here during our bike journey through Copenhagen.
