This is a pretty standard Wal-Mart. Subway is available inside the entrance. I find this very convenient if you want to pick up something quick for dinner. The deli inside has some hot food available as well but I personally have not purchased the hot food items. The produce area can be a bit of a hit or miss as a lot of items are in high demand and rarely in stock for long. The items with a quick turn around are usually always fresh. Some of the other items not in high demand you may need to watch out for. I've gotten green onions before that were a bit old for the shelf. Clothing and furniture items are well stocked and available in a nice variety. I find it pretty rare to find staff available at any department. When there are staff, I'm rarely asked if I need help finding anything. They have a small clearance section next to Lawn and Garden which I always browse. Since they have added the self checkout option, it has helped with check out lines. At all times of the day, I find there are usually 1-4 check outs ran by employees unless it is black friday. Some of the staff can be very professional and helpful.

However, I do not know if overnighting is allowed here. Oh, one thing. The Wal-Mart is NOT located where your GPS thinks it is. My GPS was telling me I still had half a mile to go when, OH MY THERE IT IS, GOTTA TURN IN NOW.

A great location for your grocery needs. Plenty of parking with recycling bins located on one side…read moreof the lot. They modified the two entrance/exit points as one for an entrance only and one for the exit only due to distancing measures. They have sanitizing wipes at the entrance for the carts and masks are required. I was told by a friend that a mask could be bought for $1 here if you forget one. They did recently remove the one way signs on the floor. Not many people followed the directions when they were marked. They do have a limit on high demand items. Great meat, produce, deli, and gluten free options. When they have a sale on meat, the items always go fast. Produce selections are well stocked and in great quality. Order pick up is available with a designated drive up area. I personally have not used this service but know a few people that have. I heard positive feedback on the service so far. I'd highly recommend the produce, deli grab and go options, and gluten free / sugar free options. Several items are slightly higher priced than other options in town but they are more likely to be in stock at the store from my experience.

So the good news about Doug's Supermarket. Chuck & Steve and family run a great show and excel in…read moremy favorite food areas, the filling kind! Always being the critic, hard to condemn Doug's Supermarket. Once you understand how tough its is to do business in Warroad, you'll have a whole new respect for Doug's Supermarket when you understand the Two day round trips from Minneapolis which makes logistics expensive and critical to fresh produce, and fresh meats. The audience, well the majority are very even keeled salt of the earth kind, you know the average Joe. "Butt", in every crowd there's a few high brow folks who you might say are hard to please, with a more refined palate which demands a higher good feel environment hence the Doug's Supermarket recent re-model. So Doug's might feel high end, but they try hard to meet the demands of all people who call Warroad home. The gang at Doug's try's hard to bring the freshest produce, and price sensitive commodities to what is a declining market with both shrinking market share, and aged out demographics, they still do a fine job even with all the oversight from some particular audience members. Fresh produce, as good as its gets North of Saint Cloud, Bakery not scratch, but ready made. Will custom bake upon request, you just need to request. I have ordered scratch made rhubarb pie, and its absolutes any pie that's crossed by palate. By far the best meat department I've been into in a grocery store in Twenty Years. Great cuts of Choice Steaks, and occasional rift of Prime cuts in house. Homemade sausage plant, real smoker. Some exceptional Jerky's, Brats, Steaks, beef sticks and hams oh my! Caribou Coffee, nice addition to Warroad. But, how about the addition of a drive through window, to heat things up in Warroad with a little push back to that new copy cat coffee company. Food for thought ? Anyways, Doug's never really disappoints in world of high shrink, low margin, long hours, huge geographical ebbs. Doug's really does a fine job in a tough marketplace. Keep up the good work Doug's Supermarket, you may not hear it from big brother, but you make Warroad a better place. Without you, Warroad well it would still be Warroad, just without food! So hey, you have that going for you! Thank you,

The week prior I had replaced the brake shoes myself and turned the lug nuts on with my fingers and had applied anti-seize to the lugs. I told the attendants this and all they said was whoever put them on cross threaded them. So, I figured they cross threaded them because I knew they were not cross-threaded! So nI went and purchased new lugs and nuts costing nearly $150 and went home. I pulled out my breaker bar and loosened the lugs easily. I tourqued them to 150 foot LBS the week prior. I am going out on a limb here, because we watched three guy's walking around and talking whilst pointing at the wheels... They just did not want to work and just wanted to ride out the clock since they close at 7PM. Bear in mind we called ahead to make sure they had time to do the job, and they said yes. They were cleaning the bays when we got there. They wasted our time and gas getting there. They wasted our time whilst we waited in our other car watching from outside while they he-hawed around. Then they accused me of ruining parts on my own car. I was a journeyman machinist for 30 years and they said I cross threaded my lugs. I would NEVER SHOP AT WALMART or get our car serviced there EVER with such incompetent or LAZY employees you choose. They lost a good deal of money and they were still on the clock, it is no wonder so many Walmart stores are closing nationwide !

Pricing is good, typical Walmart cost wise and a good hunk of the items are from out of the country. In a way I feel bad for the team here, the store is subject to a ton of theft as evidenced by open packages you see left on the shelving in the aisles. :(
