My experience with this company has been nothing short of a nightmare. They present themselves as a solution to debt, but in reality, they are unhelpful, misleading, and in my opinion, operating unethically. They charge incredibly high fees and fail to clearly explain how their process works. You're left in the dark while they collect payments and do little to nothing on your behalf. They let your accounts sit until they go into collections, allowing interest and penalties to pile up. Some of my accounts ended up in lawsuits because of their inaction. Only after your situation becomes worse do they attempt to settle--often for a much higher amount than you originally owed. It's a trap that leaves you worse off than when you started. Do not trust this company. I highly recommend exploring other options before signing up with them. read more

SCAM SCAM SCAM. The fact that this company can do this to people repeatedly is disgusting! The entire experience has been so draining I don't have the energy to type it all out AGAIN, but it's much like all the complaints here. They lied to me about the process and how they "helped" you out of debt. My credit was in the mid-600s and dropped 200 points with no end in sight. I'd never been late on payments and was less than 30k in debt, and these people have turned my mole hill into a sickening MOUNTAIN! And every time I call and speak with them, its a different story. When I signed up in June 2023 I was told their fee would be 25% of funds sent to negotiate with my creditors. I was ok with that. I made 11 payments of $407 & some debs were settled. When I couldn't cover the $407 monthly payments I scaled down to $100 for 15 months. I neglected to check my monthly statements. When I left the program I just discovered today that the 15 monthly payments of $100 were eaten up with "Fees" & not one dollar went to any creditors. Would like to give a zero. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY. They simply accumulate your money in order to pay their fees and some bogus BLP programs up front along with $55 monthly, plus 290 club fees. Then they set up bogus negotiations with company's that never materialize so they can charge you 25% of the original debt. In essence, your debts are never settled but they are paid and this is why it takes so long for anything to happen as they are doing money grabs while your score tanks. They never reach out to the creditors and most will tell you they never called them. Also, if an issue they will promise a supervisor to call back who never does. The reason you are put in phase 1 and phase 2 is to accumulate your money to pay themselves. This is a scam and they took approximately $1200 that could have been paid to the creditors. They are predators. Pay attention to the reviews here that say the same thing. read more

I'm just glad I caught this sooner than later. Do NOT use GRT Financial or any business associated/affiliated with, in order to settle your debt. You are better off doing it on your own. When I originally started with GRT, I had an outstanding balance on two accounts that were impacting my credit. I was able to remove the bigger account from GRT. Long story short, the base your monthly payments on what you originally owe, they settle with the creditors at about 50% of what you originally owed, then they continue to sell you on a dream that they were able to get the creditors to settle for 50%, without explaining to you that they are pocketing the difference. You are literally paying the full payment of the original debt. The only difference is that they are pocketing the difference from what they settled with the creditors. Not to mention my credit score is even worse now than it was eight months ago. any continues to decline. I didn't need to sign up with them, but I thought that they would actually help me with my debt instead they made it worse. I was better off without them. My credit score has dropped over 100 points and now I have to figure out how I'm going to get it back up while working on paying off the account that I removed from GRT Financial. What they also don't mention is that they only pay off one creditor at a time, and is solely based on the amount of payments that you've made. You have to pay them a certain amount of months and accumulate funds in an escrow., which they then turn around and use to pay the debt, all while pocketing the difference from what you originally owed and what they settled for. The worst part is, they will not work with you, and if you say anything about it, their response is: " you signed up on your own accord, no one forced you." That's what I was told. They told me that this was completely optional and I'm the one that made the choice to sign up, while they withheld information such as fees, additional fees and taxes. This is a huge scam. Trust me when I tell you do not sign up and trust them with your finances. It will ruin you and it will take you a long time to rebuild.. if you do it on your own, I recommend negotiating for yourself with your creditors without third-party assistance. You're better off and it doesn't impact your credit as much as it does, if you choose to sign up with GRT Financial. True story. Supposedly 5k went to one loan, but my statement never said it was paid. The statement never changed. I call and call and call, always getting someone, then being put on hold. Then disconnected. my experience with this company has been very unsatisfactory, misleading. I gave six creditors to this company, and I was told that there will settle all accounts half. now five of them there achieved that gold. but my monthly payment exceeded what I consider inappropriate legal feel. I want everybody to understand that everything that was explain to me when I started this debt consolidation was misleading. Now because as a consumer I did not read all areas of the contract. I bound because I have been with them over a year so I have to see it through because if I cancel all creditors will go back to the full amount. Now the case that brought me to really look at this company differently is that one of my creditor took me to court and this GRT FINANCIAL company calls me to tell me that there have a offer and I was to pay $529.78 one time and had to up my biweekly from$184 to $384 for six months and then it will drop back down to $184 I had to drop that company from GRT and set up a payment plan with that creditor. so, I personally share with everyone to call your creditor yourself and explain your financial situation and set up payment plan yourself and really read the contract before entertaining debt consolidation company read more

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I signed on, VERY excited for the op to pay my creditors. GRT quickly made me wake up to reality. My debt about $78 thousand: long story short, new townhome flooded, and life went south. Inside of a year I went from virtually no debt to swimming in it, with contractors ripping me off right and left. I got lots of calls and eventually talked to someone from GRT who offered me this miracle program. I signed on quickly for $1700 a month, believing this company intended to pay off my debt and get me back on track. What actually happened is after a year and half with them, very little of that debt had been paid off and GRT was living fat on the hog with my funds. They were paying two creditors roughly $800 a month and pocketing the rest. When I asked where all the money was going, they told me all unused funds were deposited into my account to be returned to me at the end of the program. Sounded good and bills were being paid, so I was good. Problem is THEY DO NOT NEGOTIATE WITH CREDITORS; they let all of your debt go into collections and crash your score. Which means basically that you're screwed. I might've continued with the program, because I enjoyed the legal protections they offer, for an charge extra. Those extras are forced on you, NOT AN OPTION. The biggest bug with GRT is once they crash your credit all debt goes into collection and sold off to the highest bidder. Which means, you no longer owe the ORIGINAL debt amount that GRT is happily charging you for. Technically you can crash you own score and negotiate with the debtor on your own behalf. Contact debtor's legal department, do not talk to debt collectors, different department. Many if not all will work with you, something I wish I had known. You could likely negotiate for half of the value or less. GRT knows this, but they act like they're still paying the original debtor. That's inaccurate. They charge you OUTRAGEOUS fees to achieve nearly nothing. In CA debtors cannot pursue past 4years, but this debt program was much longer. GRT is only interested in lining their pockets with your fear. Please note, they sell this program hard. You as the desperate person will happily believe their smooth lure. Their customer service is excellent. But ultimately GRT was a giant failed experiment. I left the program and took over the payments for two of the accounts they did negotiate. After I left the program, I STRONGLY suspect that GRT contacted my creditors who were still holding on for their payout and told them I left the program. In other words, GRT might not be trustworthy. I believe this because the one debtor who hadn't sold off the debt showed up very shortly after I took over my own debt again. Coincidence...?? Unlikely and something I won't ever be able to prove. In the end GRT refunded me about $340 bucks after more than 18mos of working with them. The lies are rampant; they are full of broken promises and ultimately it feels like a massive deception. DO NOT USE ANY DEBT MEDIATION PROGRAMS. Handle it yourself. GRT isn't the only business that uses this very deceptive model. read more

Stay away from this company! They will ruin your credit and take you money. I was with them for 7 months and my credit score dropped 200 points. Just like everyone has said before, GRT claims to speak to your creditors but they do not. The speak to maybe one creditor and charge fees on top of fees. I have never missed a payment with them. I truly thought they were going to help me get back on top of my debt and they made it so much worse. I had over $5000 in the settlement account and they took over $3000 in fees and only paid off one account. In reality, they only will save you $1000-$2000 because everything else is going to them in fees. I cancelled with them on the phone their agent said your account balance is $315 and you will receive your refund in 7-10 business days. Well the check has not come and will not come. The next day after cancelling with them they made up fees to deplete the account. I will be speaking with them to get my owed refund. If they give me the runaround, I will be taking them to small claims court. read more

Can't give a 0 stars, but would if I could. These people are con artists. Charged me for a Legal Club set up fee that was presented as mandatory (not mandatory) then monthly. Was on the program 6 months they quasi settled 1 debt (trashed my credit that had been hanging out a meek 640 but ran it into a ridiculous 430) They charged me for the settlement but did not complete the settlement. This was partially my fault due to missing a payment, but when I told them to go ahead and take the payment they didn't. Settlement was lost, but they still got paid. When it came time to refund the escrow balance because this warranted removing me from the program I got back $221 dollars out of almost $1100. They paid my creditor a grand total of $25.00. Then they had the audacity to ask me if I wanted to rejoin. I said I would under the condition that they resettle the original settlement. She told me they would not be able to guarantee that. So basically they will move on to another account, charge another 25% and not finish what was started. Mind you while I was waiting for them to settle these accounts for months I started getting my own settlement offers for the same discounts that did not have the 25% markup. Save yourself the heartburn and do this on your own. They are thieves! When I got talked into this I told the guy repeatedly these programs have terrible raps, he assured me they were different. They are not different, they are all the same! If you value your credit don't buy they lie. read more

Here are specific details of how this program truly works: My total debt was $24,503. They settled it for $15,737. I was supposed to make payments of just over $400 per month under their program, but I increased my payment to $700 (auto-debit) to pay it off early. What I didn't understand was that their fees of 25% are NOT taken off the settlement amount (in my case, $15,737) but rather off the TOTAL ORIGINAL debt amount (in my case, $24,503). So, I was thinking I was paying the $15,737 settlement amount, plus a 25% fee ON that settlement amount ($3,934.25). Instead, their actual "fees" were $6,125(!) Please Note: They collect your payments and take THEIR fees off the top - BEFORE making any payments to your creditors! That means, my $700 payments for the first 9 months went to THEM and NOTHING went to my creditors. NOW my $700 payments are finally going to the creditors. Bottom line: you don't really save much by having them settle your accounts (in my case, $2,639 "savings"). Call the creditors and settle it yourself. You'll actually save a lot more money. read more

This business is a scam. I requested to cancel within hours of speaking to them and Chadd Sullo the "cofounder" still pushed it through. I submitted the cancellation form twice and no one would respond or acknowledge it. Finally got ahold of Chadd again who said "everything was set and cancelled" and I wouldn't be charged. Well guess what, they still withdrew the money from my account. Now Chadd won't return emails or calls. Currently reporting fraudulent charge with my bank. Stay far away from these crooks. read more

I'm not sure how to rate GRT financial yet, they seem to be nice people to deal with and keep telling me everything is going well but the creditors calls and emails are driving me crazy. I made the mistake of answering one of my credit card companies calls and was talked into settling with them for what could be a bad deal for me so I'm afraid to call or contact my other credit cards since I'm afraid I'll end up in more bad settlements for me but great for the creditors. Yesterday was 3 months in the program so another month and then they will start contacting the credit card companies to try to settle the accounts. We will see if that happens. read more

I have been with GRT Financial for almost 3 years and they have helped me eliminate 2 out of 3 credit card balances. I have worked with some good people and some not so good people. Israel Rodriguez is currently my advisor and has been very helpful. If he doesn't know the answer to my questions, he immediately gets someone who does. As with all contracted services for this type of debt management, there are fees and leg work that is required from us, the customer.
