Just riding around through North Texas between Denton and Lake Texoma, found ourselves passing…read morethrough Whitesboro. Jumped on Yelp, looking for a place for lunch, and found 56 deli. I've said this on another few reviews about other places, when you're driving by 56 deli don't judge this book by its cover. What a fantastic place, with a great team of people working there. Primarily a sandwich shop but they do run their daily specials. The special they had today today was meatloaf and potatoes with various sides. But their sandwiches are why we were there. Imagine a Subway® style line where you pick your bread, meat, trimmings, etc. Except everything's fresh, everything tasted homemade. Just amazing. And don't forget the dessert, we tried the banana pudding and it was as good as grandma's. I highly recommend if you're in the area, give them a try.

Growing up in Florida having great Cuban food, I'm very judgy on Cuban food. I went back on Wednesday and got a Cuban along with some deviled eggs and Banana pudding. First the staff is very friendly and helpful. It's a busy place, with both indoor and outdoor seating I was Alerted the Cuban is not on "Cuban" bread but rather on Sourdough. This sandwich is delicious, a bright mix of flavors with their Cuban sauce. A true to form Cuban is on the Cuban bread and pressed in a Panini. The 59 Deli gives the best I've eaten a run for first place, it's very close. The portions are plenty one sandwich fed two of us. The deviled eggs were very good. But the star of the meal was the banana pudding thick sorta whipped with nice banana pieces. Hands down the best I've had. Prices are very reasonable and affordable I will be making plenty of more trips there Do yourself a favor and go try them

What's not to love about Midway Deli? First, the food. I love a deliciously huge deli sandwich. It…read moreis a guilty pleasure to enjoy that I frequently forget that I do enjoy because a nice deli sandwich gets buried amongst all of the other equally delicious cuisine choices when I get hungry. I've been a customer of Midway Deli for 20 years and the food and service have never lacked once in all these years. The options for sandwiches are perfect and hit the spot. I love the location in Norman. Driving there through the nearby beautiful neighborhood enhances how special deli really is. I love the options, the ambiance of the seating and space. I love the accessibility of the bench outside with the solar powered phone charger, too. Basically, I love this place and you will, too.

We visited for lunch on Friday and there was a long line but it moved very quickly and we were able to find a seat with no problems. Outside there was a live musician performing and it was mainly covered. Of course we had to try the Vulcan sandwich (they're known for it) and we also tried a baked potato and another sandwich. We were SO impressed! When they came out, they looked like regular sandwiches but surpassed our expectations with the fresh and delicious flavors. Love this local, casual sandwich spot and would enjoy bringing friends back here.

I could not pass up the opportunity to try a Matzo Ball! I have heard about them, but have never actually seen one in the wild. A bowl of Hodgepodge soup for me, with a big surprise. It came with a Kreplach. Livin' on the wild side now. Expanding my culinary horizons. With the soup I ordered one of my favorites, a Lox Bagel. I darn sure know what those are. I have eaten a basket full of those things in my life time. My wife went with the Ruben and potato salad. The Hodgepodge is a hearty bowl of chicken noodle. With a filling, tennis ball sized pastry, the Matzo ball. Plain in taste, surprisingly light in texture. Hiding behind that, the Kreplach. I like those little dumplings. Basically, the equivalent of a Chinese pot sticker. This soup would be good to treat a cold. The Lox Bagel was disappointing, especially for the price. Actually, everything on the menu seemed a little pricey. The Ruben was a good honest portion of beef, packed between two slices of delicious toasted rye. My wife liked it. The potato salad, not so much. Commenting that it was bland in comparison to her preference of potato salad. Order at the counter, your food is delivered. The service was slow, even though the restaurant only had a few diners. Clean bright dining area. I can only assume that the décor duplicates a New York Deli.

This time we had the Beef Stroganoff with a cup of Split Pea Soup and the Deli News Breakfast Feast with sunny-side-up eggs, Challah French Toast, and hash browns. The Beef Stroganoff was hearty and comforting, exactly the kind of meal you want when you are craving something substantial. The split pea soup made a great complement to it. The Breakfast Feast continues to be a favorite, and the Challah French Toast is especially good, thick, satisfying, and a nice change from ordinary French toast. Deli News is one of those places where you can come hungry, sit down, and enjoy familiar comfort food without needing anything fancy. Breakfast or lunch, there is plenty on the menu to keep giving us reasons to come back.

This lil meat market and deli is a hidden treasure. It's located smack dab in the middle of a…read moreresidential neighborhood and is a great asset to the community. It reminds me of my childhood when I'd frequent the area market for my sitter and sometimes for my own sweet tooth. What great memories of those fun days gone by. After looking up meat markets in the area, Hardesty was the first to pop up so off I went...ready to check it out. Upon entering the heavy door immediately that 'little giddy girl feeling' from my childhood days came rushing over me. It took me back to the days I walked to my local market as a child for many of the same goods and I felt right at home! There was a particularly-hard-to-find-deli meat that I was in search of which they didn't quite have, but a suitable substitute was found. The market was clean and the employees (and even customers) were so, so hospitable and friendly. The gentleman that waited on me was kind/patient and graciously gave me sample after sample of not-so-common deli meat/cheese to explore. It was fun taste-testing foods that I hadn't heard of or eaten before. I ended up purchasing much more than I intended to, but was extremely pleased with each item. The market also has fresh vegetables, homemade preserves, desserts, pickled goods, okra, sauces and more. What a delight! This is now my new meat market/deli...home away from home. Thank you HARDESTY for being such a bright spot in the community and a wonderful place to travel for my meat/deli needs. You are well worth the miles from my home state to yours. You rock!
