I've lived in New York my entire life and out of all the coffee shops I've been to this one is my favorite. I'm fortunate that my office is a couple blocks away because my day doesn't quite feel complete without a visit to Ground Support. I don't agree with any of the negative reviews here because their service is amazing. Going in almost everyday, I've gotten to know the staff there and they are all kind and polite. In particular, Zimmy and Kyha always give me great service with a smile. Even when they are busy, which is often, they always take care to make the customers feel welcome. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting. And the food there is the best in the area. The coffees and teas are delicious (cheaper too!), none of that burnt garbage you get from Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. But the sandwiches and salads there also deserve rave reviews. They give excellent portions and in particular, the Turkey Picnic sandwich is my absolute favorite. So delicious! I highly recommend visiting the shop if you're in the area, you won't be disappointed. read more

I've been going here for almost a decade, so I have no idea why I'm just now sitting down to write a review, but this place is the bomb. Stephen (the owner) is one of the nicest, most down-to-earth guys around and he manages to make a hip coffee spot on West Broadway somehow feel like a neighborhood joint. Whole staff is rad as well. It's the best café in the Soho neighborhood because there is really no other coffee shop around. Sometimes you just need a place to sit and read or people watch and I find Ground Support to be the perfect spot for those activities. I'm sure you can do the same at the Starbucks on Spring Street but the people there are just not as pretty or as interesting. West Broadway is like a runway for all the stylish and oddities of New Yorkers. As for their coffee, they hit the spot. Not sure which brand of beans they use but it is smooth and strong. Just the way I like it. The big complainer is probably the space because a lot of people do just lounge around the seating area without purchasing a drink or something to eat. You have to try this place's mint tea, its one of the best ones Ive had. Very minty and refreshing, perfect for a summer day. Also unlike a lot of other coffee shops, this one has pretty ample room to sit and enjoy your coffee, I also noticed some people on their laptops so maybe they have free wifi? Place is pretty chill, and im not just talking about their drinks. pun definitely intended!. I also introduced my friends to their mint tea and they loved it as well. I came here for a quick lunch on a weekday around noon, when they were quite busy and crowded. But thankfully, the service was fast and smooth, so it didn't feel hectic at all. They have a lot of seatings available, mostly consisting of communal tables and benches facing the street, and has free wi-fi. I really liked the grilled cheese sandwich and iced coffee, so I would definitely like to come back in the future to try other types of coffee and baked goods. Overall, it's a great spot to grab cheap, quick lunch or take a short shopping break. read more

Loved their espresso! I came twice through last week to work on their spacious benches, and had both a hot and iced americano. The espresso itself was perfection, with a good kick and minimal bitterness and a pretty full flavor even with water. The staff was friendly, the wifi password is at the register, and they played good background music. My only gripe is that the wifi was excruciatingly slow at times, but that's nothing to hold against a business. Would come back anytime! read more

This is a place I could see having iffy reviews, if it was not for the always great service. Kind, knowledgeable and always smiling. They even learn your name and order. This place is deceivingly big. I mean, it's not the biggest, but it's bigger than some. There's the cashier and some seats, and then you head back and there's a longer bar with the espresso machine and everything and more seating. It's usually crowded, but I don't mind just sitting along the side and just chilling. It has a nice atmosphere and there's always people just reading and working, or catching up with someone. Solid coffee spot - they usually have great drip coffee & a good atmosphere. I've always found a place to sit easily, though the cafe is pretty full most afternoons. It takes no time to order, but the actual service is kind of slow, especially for food. Speaking of the food! The grilled cheese. Why would I order anything else?! Roasted tomato, caciocavallo & fresh basil on sourdough pullman bread. YUM. Its the exact right size and consistency of sandwich to completely satisfy me without making me feel too-full. One of the yummiest glorified grilled cheese sandwiches I've had in the city. Not at all like a pizza sandwich, as my friend came close to describing it! The service has been hit or miss for me. While I may not like the seating arrangements, they've won me over with the service and quality. Having worked in the area a while now, this is hands down the best cappuccino place around. I think an establishment can be rated on the quality of their cappuccino. Theirs is ALWAYS just the right temperature ready for drinking - I'm amazed how they manage that. Came in for a morning coffee. Got an iced half-caf almond milk latte, which was delicious and quick. They print out little stickers with the order info so you're sure you're getting what you asked for. Service was friendly and didn't seem hassled, even with the morning commuter rush (9:15 am on a Monday). Latte was perfect; wish it wasn't $5.25, though. They've got great communal picnic tables and benches inside, and a very relaxed vibe. Recommended for sure. read more
