Did you know these volcanoes could still erupt? Yet they have been quiet for so many years that it feels extremely peaceful here. You can also find the remains of an old Roman temple dedicated to Mercury. Worth seeing as well! There wasn't when I was growing up but now you can take a little train to the top - still a very scenic route, don't you worry. Return journey for an adult alone is 12 euros. The Puy de Dome is a great, beautiful natural wonder. It is the highest point in the Chaîne des Puys. The whole region is one of the most underrated and authentic ones in France, in my opinion. And I'm not *only* saying that because of the cheese.
