First things first - I got to give them credits for replacing the leather sofas they had around the window. Sure In its hay-day the old sofas were beautiful, but over time with constant use, radiation from the sun, and also general wear & tear; the new sofa just provide a refreshing new sight and feel. However I do recommend that they might as well just tinting the windows altogether since there isn't much of a view outside and the sun shines straight at your face. Which can be very uncomfortable. Me and my friends ordered the Thai Calamari Salad ($23.90), the Pan-Fried Gnocchi ($23.90) and the Satay Chicken ($24.90). My friends have told me that their meals (the Thai Calamari Salad and Satay Chicken) were excellently made, very rich with falvour and very hearty meal. The presentation of the meals is simply very articulate. I had similar experience with my meal (the Pan-Fried Gnocchi), the gnocchi was soft, caramelised and cooked all the way through excellently; which is quite an achievement considering cooking gnocchi are easy to make (unless your making from scratch) but extremely difficult to perfect. - you don't cook it long enough and the gnocchi will be hard in the middle; cook it too long and the gnocchi will start to become soggy. The sauce was very creamy, smooth and silky which is simply magnificent. However I did find that the sauce was quite bland, like no seasoning was added to it at all. The cheese and coriander garnish did compensate for it a little but not enough. My friends thought that the service was a bit slow, like it took over half an hour to get out meals, however I did believe that its because they were having a busy night. All and all, my friends and I really did have a wonderful night and hope we get mkre chances to visit this place again. read more

Great fast service, steak needed to be cooked as asked and peppercorn sauce barely hinted at any peppercorns. Nachos were ok as was the iced chocolate but the so called New York cheesecake was extremely disappointing to someone who is fussy/connoisseur but their cakes come from an external supplier. Great atmosphere for a pub like venue though. For price I expected more! read more

I have never left a negative review before but this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Beautiful looking cafe, but very poor staff. We were left waiting (wanting to order takeaway) for almost half an hour at the counter - the place was not busy, and there were plenty of staff. We were not even acknowledged by any staff member (including the barista who was less than a metre away from us) although many waltzed passed us to get behind the bar to return dishes/grab things etc. Once finally catching the attention of someone we ordered a cake for takeaway and a milkshake. The 'large' milkshake were put into a coffee cup (so really the size of a small anywhere else), and when we asked for a plastic spoon for our takeaway cake we were informed that they did not have plastic spoons or forks. On top of that the food was awful and was extremely overpriced - and I usually don't mind paying big $$ for nice food!!! read more

Dreadful food, poor service and we waited 50mins for our meal. I can usually find something positive to say about a restaurant but not tonight at Groove Train Frankston. One meal out of three, the Seafood Basket was okay but the other two were pretty much inedible. The spaghetti pescatore was cold and had so much chilli it was crazy-hot and basically unpleasant. I ordered the salmon from the specials list and it was very over cooked and dry. It was served with a cauliflower gratin, asparagus and carrots all of which were cold and cold cheese sauce is just nasty. When I asked how long our meal would be after waiting 50 minutes I was told by Jenna, wait staff member, they weren't expecting it to be busy. No apology, no "I will find out where your meal is" - she went away and didn't report back. A customer had a whole bowl of what looked like aioli or tartare sauce spilt all over her back, hair, face and handbag. Poor thing took it well - I hope it comes out of her shirt. When Jenna asked how are meals were I told her they weren't good and she shrugged her shoulders. Maybe pretending she cared just a bit would have made me feel better. Her sarcastic "have a nice night" as we were leaving did not really help either. Do yourself a favour and don't bother eating at Groove Train - seriously there are much better pubs serving this style of food so don't waste your money. read more
