    Pepperoni pizza

This is one of my favorite venues to see a concert. It's pretty small, outdoors, and you can get food. If you can spring for the VIP tickets, I highly recommend to do so. You'll get your own bar, private bathrooms, and you'll be right in front of the stage. Plus, you can walk around the entire venue if you want. They have plenty of bars to get a variety of drinks from. They're about average and not overpriced. You can also buy pizza by the slice for $5 and they are huge. Make sure to bring cash because sometimes they only accept cash at certain bars. The last time I went, I could only get pizza at the front and they weren't taking cards-which was highly inconvenient and confusing because at other bars around the venue they were taking cards but they were drinks only. And the ATM was down so if you didn't bring cash you were SOL. Moral of the story: VIP tickets, bring cash, get a drink, have a slice, and enjoy a rocking concert.

Even walking in, we weren't quite sure what to expect. The entrance is small, and you're greeted right away, which was a nice touch. Once inside, it's very dark with deep red lighting--almost like stepping into a cave. It took a moment for our eyes to adjust, but once they did, we immediately felt at ease. The space is cozy and perfectly aligned with its purpose: it's all about the jazz. The service was great--welcoming, attentive, and added to the overall experience without taking away from the music. And the music? Absolutely captivating. It pulls you in and transports you--you can't help but settle into the vibe and just enjoy the moment together. We went on a Monday, so there was plenty of seating, but I noticed there's also a lower level that likely accommodates larger weekend crowds. There's a solid drink menu and a small selection of food, but honestly, this isn't the place you come for a full meal. Come for the drinks, stay for the music, and soak in the atmosphere.

Quinn XCII Concert Sponsored by Fresh Karma…read more This was truly an awful and saddening experience. It was not communicated prior that there would be opening acts and Quinn XCII would not be performing until 3 and a half hours later after the doors opened. Especially on a hot summer day I am appalled by the Fresh Karma staff and communication. While we were waiting for 3+ hours for Quinn XCII to preform, the girl next to us proceeded to pass out and then start aggressively vomit. We are in the middle of the crowd. We proceeded to get help and alert the Fresh Karma staff. We seemed to interrupt and annoy them as they were busy smoking and passing joints when we sought medical assistance. 10 minutes later, a staff member proceeded to come after we had already gotten her water and fanning her from heat exhaustion (I'm sure she had been drinking too). After your staff escorted the lady out, no one from your staff cleaned up the excessive vomit in the middle of the venue. So, my friends and I proceeded to wait another couple hours with the vomit cooking in the heat for Quinn XCII. I have seen Quinn XCII before and his performance and timeliness was nothing close to this awful evening/night. I know I am sharing a quite angry experience, but I hope this feedback gets to the right people for improvement.

First, we had to drive in circles trying to get to the road for the parking garage bc most of the roads near the TMC were closed off by KCPD. Then, when we DID finally get onto the correct street, we sat idling in line on the street waiting to get to the parking garage for OVER an hour. All of this, only to find when we made it there (2 blocks away) that it was full. Yes, it took over an hour to move 2 blocks. And they want to add to the chaos by building a STADIUM down here? I don't think so. I will never go downtown for anything ever again if they do. Anyway, we got lucky after going around the corner (and almost hitting a guy who literally ran out in front of us with a cop watching) and found a lot directly across the street that had just 2 spots left so we actually ended up with better parking than we would have gotten in the garage, but my sister was still royally pissed off about the chaotic traffic. I will acknowledge that they apparently do have handicapped parking somewhere at the TMC, but only about 15ish spots that are first-come first-served and "have been filled for hours" according to the worker we were able to flag down and ask. Mind you, this was after sitting in line on the road for over an hour after driving in circles for another 20 minutes before that. Once we got parked (thank you to the nice men running the lot), we were getting ready to cross the street to the TMC and my sister realized she left her phone in the car, so she had to go back and get it bc, you, digital tickets now. I waited at the corner for her. We crossed the street and arrived at the doors of the TMC and were pleased that we seemed to have missed the giant que to get in bc of the parking fiasco, so that was good. We scanned in and went through security, and of course my sister was stopped by a very rude/nasty lady with an attitude who told her she couldn't take her keychain in "bc it could be used as a weapon." The offending keychain was a safety device you hold in your hand like you would your keys in case you need to defend yourself. They told her she could go put it back in her car, but needed to talk to "someone in a pink shirt so they know to let you back in." She couldn't find them (bc they were all wearing black coats over their pink shirts lol) so she asked a police officer that was working the venue. He asked her what it was; she showed him and he rolled his eyes. The purse checker lady with a power trip ran over and yelled at my sister and the officer, saying "she's already been told what to do," and I guess the officer basically told her to go away bc "I'm having a conversation with her, not you." lol and kudos to KCPD. The officer offered to give her his number and hold onto that part of the keychain for her and meet us after the show to give it back and the lady flipped out again. My sister ended up telling the officer thank you and just taking it back to the car so he helped her talk to someone to ensure she could get back in. Once inside we went to the bathroom (which had a very long line but moved quickly). My stall door wouldn't lock, and my sister said there was poop on the walls of her stall. Gross. Once at our seats things got better. We were crammed in like sardines, but our neighbors were friendly. The show itself was great, but that is not any reflection on the TMC. After this experience, we both said we will not go back to TMC, or any event downtown that isn't at the music hall (they valet) ever again.

Recently, I went to the Knuckleheads Garage to see the Texas Headhunters, which is a newer band featuring my favorite guitar player and singer Ian Moore. The experience was pretty great from start to finish. I was able to buy a ticket online and save it to my Apple wallet. It was super easy to get in. Parking was on-site and plentiful. They had a great opening act that was a local band from Kansas City. I liked that the drinks were affordable and super cold. I got a tall Quirk for $8. Beers were similarly priced. Later in the evening, I got hungry and scored a hotdog for six dollars. The whole place is cash only. Be advised you will not tap to pay. They have an ATM on site if you need cash. The concert was fantastic! The band was amazing and I was very pleased with the experience. There's a large seating area with tables and chairs in the middle of the venue and on the north side there are rows of old airline or bus seats with cupholders that are amazing. You are even welcome to go down into the pit without an extra special kind of ticket The sound was great and not too loud, it was very clear and clean, the lights were well done and they even had robotic video cameras with someone mixing the video on screen and out in the bar area so you didn't have to miss what was happening. The restrooms were clean and nice. The whole thing was a great experience. I will most certainly be returning to Knuckleheads for live music!!
