Childrens section is often busy but worth the wait as they stock Start rite alongside clarks, lelli kelly, elephanten and many other familiar names. Staff are well trained to deal with even the most uncooperative of small children and are willing to listen to both parent and child on shoe needs. Store also has a wide selection of occasional shoes, mens shoes and keeps up with shoe fads stocking lines such as Crocs. A well maintained store with a traditional feel to it.

Its an independent shoe shop and has a lovely traditional feel to it. Its packed to the rafters with an amazing array of different brands, both traditional and contemporary- Clarks, Doc Martens etc. After looking around for a while we were approached by a very friendly member of staff who asked what kind of thing we were looking for. After choosing a pair of Clarks brogue type boots we sat and waited whilst she went to fetch them in the right size. Whilst Andy was trying on the shoes the assistant made pleasant conversation and offered advice on whether the boots he had selected would be as robust as a pair of Doc Martens he also had his eye on. The advice given was honest, practical and worthwhile - am not sure you would get such advice in one of the more mainstream shoe shops. Proces were fair - for example the Doc Martens were £15 cheaper than we had seen online. I also noticed that they sold some very expensive mens footwear (i didnt look at the ladies as i wasnt buying), i cant remember the brand name but the boots were £200+ so am guessing they were some top quality leather boots! The old fashioned feel may put off those who love their shops like Schuh but id highly recommend a look - we both remarked on how good the service was when leaving which i cant remember ever doing in a shoe shop before. A final word covering the Kingfisher Centre as a whole - we tend to go here when we are looking for clothes/shoes etc as its so much cheaper to park than in Birmingham ( we were there for 3+ hours and it cost £2.50. Ive never had a problem finding a parking space either - all good!!

If you are looking for formal and smart shoes then it's worth paying a visit to Gordon Scott. They…read moreregularly have sales on and the quality of the shoes make it worth the decent price that you pay. The shoe shop has been around for as long as I can remember and their styles have changed but now they currently just sell smart and formal shoes. I think the style of the shop matches what they specialise in but also makes me feel a bit sad every time I visit because it is very dull and boring. It feels as if the shop needs some stylish decor to compliment the shoes and generally make the shop look less bland. On the other hand there aren't many other shops in Solihull that specialise in formal and smart shoes. So maybe they're doing something right? Due to its good location, this is where I come if I need my shoes to help make a good impression. Plus I love the little monkey they have in the window. Overall I think you would have to like Gordon Scott's shoe styles in order to like anything else here.

Several popular big-name brands like Timberland, Converse and Hush Puppies are always available and Gordon Scott also stocks plush designer brands Ted Baker. Expectedly, everything in here is quite pricey, but the classy, elegant atmosphere inside is heart-warming to say the least and the laid-back staff never seem to jump on, or stare at browsers, so even if you're just window shopping, you're sure for a pleasant experience. If designer labels are your thing and your pockets are deep, you'll be in your element here.
