School is underwhelming. Doesn't ooze an ounce of inspiration. Recently moved to the area. My son…read morestarted 6th grade and we were shocked. Their library has been updated or recently remodeled. Didn't look new at all. No computers. Gymnasium looks like it's the original from the 80s and it is a shared building for the cafeteria which doesn't have an actually kitchen. Seems more like preparing kids for prison not life.

I was in the office waiting to turn in paper work and over heard the principal saying he was going to over look a bullying incident because a parent had pushed his buttons. On my way out I then witnessed the same principal tell students not to wait in front of the office for a parent pick up, he told the two boys he didn't care where they went but waiting in front of "his" office wasn't an option because it was 2:53 and he wanted to go home. Save your child the trama of the occasional drug addict cutting through the school driveway to get to a near by gas station, and a principal who will not be bothered.

My daughter had previously struggled academically at another local public school. We had the opportunity to speak with Mr.Free about her difficulties, in which he in turn explained the possibilities for her at Ipakanni. She started school at Ipakanni the very next week. Because of the school's model, my daughter has had the opportunity to complete two history books in just two months. She is on target to graduate next year, which is a year earlier than if she were in a typical public school. Now, I obviously owe a huge (loving) thumbs up! to my daughter who has taken responsibility for her education, but I'd also like to thank Ipakanni for being there and giving students an opportunity to excel and succeed. Ipakanni is positively changing the lives of many students, who elsewhere may not have the same encouragement and unique opportunities that only Ipakanni offers. Thank you, Ipakanni!
