Wandering into this reiki center, I think we insulted the teacher-practitioners. They quizzed my friend exactly why she wanted to have a psychic reading. In the end, they suggested someone in town for a group reading more akin to "healing therapy." Gamely, we made the call but it wasn't returned until we left town. I guess that person wasn't really a psychic or else she would have known we gone already! As for this shop, it's full of expensive crystals with what seemed to be a much larger selection than the shops on the main drag. I spied books and other things you could decorate your home with...that is, if they sell it to you because they are awfully serious about their "energy" here. Strangely, the area surrounding the shop is much cooler than the sidewalk, just a few feet away. Coincidence or all in my head? Spooky!

Because I was one - I thought I could get my pro level photos battling with the tourists for that "one shot" of the Cathedral Rock...well you know what? Cathedral Rock is a big yawn!!! You want a LOCAL source who is also a true professional. Someone like Dave. Who began taking pro photos in the days of film, and understands light and photography like no other. Oh he won't tell you what the "right" way is - no no!!! But better: Dave will show you how to discover what YOUR style is, in a small, personalized workshop where he covers everything from low light, harsh light, feathery water, rocks, macro, abstract, street photography, and even gear, photo hacks, Lightroom solutions, tripod set ups, what other little things to do/think about, and really --- he will even make you lunch if you're working with him for a full day. How can you ask for more??? Dave just bought a new SUV - and it is super clean and comfortable to take you to those little-known areas to shoot your photos. We went to Oak Creek past Sedona a little. Not being from there I would NEVER have known it was there. Dave even went so far as to hike down to the water's edge (no small feat!!!!!) and throw buckets of water at the creek rocks to give YOU the BEST photo!!!!! I personally so valued my time with Dave that I gave him a large tip - and I think you should too. It is one on one time, not like the other photo workshops in Sedona where you sit in a van with 10 other amateurs, the driver stops and points at the sight you should take a photo of, then you get back into the van. Is that what you really want? If so - don't go to Dave. Go to the half priced cheap tour where you get what you pay for!!!! Dave happens to do excellent workshops all around Phoenix, Scottsdale, as well as Yosemite and Olympia National Park in Oregon. I am looking forward to seeing him again for his Light painting workshop in Scottsdale soon. If you're serious about photography, go to Dave while you're in Sedona/Cottonwood/Jerome/Phoenix/Scottsdale/Flagstaff . Larry knows the turf and guided me to several great vistas. He also made a number of extremely helpful suggestions vis-a-vis techniques. His local knowledge is tremendous -- exactly what I was looking for. At one point I recall he said "your optimum time will be in roughly five minutes." He was exactly right. A few minutes after that time the scene was still beautiful but had changed significantly. At this point I plan to return next year. Larry will receive a call from me. :)

This made it easy for me to fit classes into my hectic schedule of raising a child and working. One of my favorite parts about my instructor's teaching style is we were free to ask questions regarding the material and our own personal real estate experiences. I felt my instructor, Kathy, cared so much and took the time to make sure each one of the students in my class understood the more complex topics. Since everyone learns differently there were days that this was not an easy task. I have never met someone with such patience and incredible knowledge of real estate. Her class set up was incredibly conducive for me to learn the enormous amount of real estate material! Kathy is the reason I felt so prepared for the state exam (and yes I passed the 1st time, woohoo!) and further more to practice real estate! Just wanted to give a big shout out and thanks to Kathy and How 2 Educate Real estate school!

Honestly, I found the "teacher" to be condescending, unprofessional and sexist. I showed up promptly at 9am and the doors were locked...only to have her show up at 9:20am. She explained that the class could start anywhere from 9am to 9:30am. I thought...fine...that gives me extra time to drive down the hill to attend classes in the future. However, rather than apologize for being late she told me she would obviously have to teach me how to relax. At the time, I thought that was an odd comment but it later proved to be just the tip of the iceberg. She prepared for the class by making some coffee so I chatted with her and asked her how many people would be showing up today and asked her a question about some of the materials she sent me a couple days earlier. She stopped me mid sentence and asked me why men always want to get things done yesterday and always want to hurry through everything and never want to put in the time to do things right! I was stunned. And she continued...men try to explain things with 3 words and women take the time to give you much more detail. Okay...this is getting stranger by the minute...but maybe she just didn't have her morning coffee. Next, she asked me for my gmail address so she could email me a set of reading materials. I explained that I didnt have gmail and that i used a corporate address through outlook and i couldn't access my outlook email on the class computer. She then said that in addition to teaching me how to relax...she would obviously have to teach me about computing as well and help move me into the 21st century. Condescending...No? The final straw was during a question and answer session. Her correct answers were not the same as her own answer key and i was trying to figure out is the correct answer A or B. Frankly, I didn't care whether it was A or B or both...but i wanted to know for sure. I pointed this issue out to her on 3 separate occasions and she ignored my attempt to clarify. When it happened again she finally demanded...not asked...demanded me to step outside so we could talk. I am a 49 year old MAN with 2 degrees and a business i've run for 20 years...not a 10 year old child. I told her i had enough of the abusive, sexist, condescending and unprofessional behavior and told her I was quitting her class. To her credit she offered me my money back immediately. Can i give this class zero stars? I would if i could.
