They have signs "Best hostel in Krakow!" everywhere. It's the only hostel in Krakow I've been to, so I can compare it only to hostels from other cities. First of all, it's my first time in life when I see hostel where they include breakfast and dinner (!) in price. So basically you can survive in the city just by paying ~50 zlotych per day, it's nearly the same sum you would pay for a regular long-term rent _without_ food. I think it's an extremely good deal for tourists. The conditions of living are good but far from best. The building is old, so you have a chance to get a room which looks correspondingly to the age of the building. Personally I've experienced it when was living on the 4st floor, but they've recently started renovating there. During it I was moved to the 2nd floor, it is much much better. In general they have rooms for 4/8 people, a bathroom and a kitchen for 2-3 rooms. The security safes are present in every room and are free. But you have to pay for towels, it always pisses me off :(. The hostel is party-oriented, i.e. they are doing their best at gathering everyone in one room, making acquaintances and going to pub crawls every single day. In the evening there are usually only 3-4 people left on the floor together with current host/hostess, so it was pretty comfortable for me. Wi-Fi is slow though. To sum it up, if I'll ever need a hostel in Krakow again, I'll choose this one without any thinking.

Best hostel I've ever used! Free breakfast and daily changing dinner. Friendly staff all around and homey atmosphere. Free shots served while movies play in living room. Towels ad linens free. Great shower and free use of computer for Internet. Big living room and kitchen Where u can get tea or coffee any time u want! Recommended!!!! Great location right in front of big shopping mall and main station.

Breakfast : bacon, eggs, french crepes (pancakes), pickles, fruit jam, yogourht, and so on... :)

An A-OK hostel in Cracow!…read more Location: Area is quiet, but is within very reasonable distance from the main bus, train, and tram stations. It is also close to an area I can only describe as "Downtown", where all the shops are, as well as some other places of historical significance. Some other things are a little more or a walk or a tram ride away (like the Jewish Quarter or Schindler's factory). Beds: Beds were clean. The mattress is extremely thin, unless you are a bag of feathers, you will likely find it a bit uncomfortable. Also, some of the beds are a little creaky, so when people in the room toss or turn, (esp. on a top bunk) you will likely hear it. Also, while my sheets were fine, one other person in my room had a torn sheet, and another (who had two mattresses) had sheets that refused to stay on the mattress. The blanket was very thin. In my room, we two windows. One had a very sheer curtain that didn't completely cover the window, another had no curtain at all. If you, like me, wake up when it gets sunny, keep this in mind. internet Speed: Slow internet is not an issue at this hostel. One of the few hostels I have been with fast internet (despite the whole hostel being booked by exchange students, one of which is me) To those of you who understand, I just tested the speed... ~33Mbps upload, ~5Mbps download. Security: Have to ring a bell to get into the hostel. While technically anyone can ring in, it adds another layer of security, preventing anyone from just randomly walking in. There are spacious lockers available, and I believe you can rent/borrow locks from reception. Bathroom facilities: This is one of the negatives of this hostel. Among the many beds in this place (over 30, likely around 60) there are 5 showers, and three toilets (one male, one female, one unisex). Not all shower heads are mounted, in some cases, you have to hold it in your hand. Breakfast: It's free, so who am I to complain. But the breakfast is very simple and very small. You are given coffee and tea, bread, jam, butter, cheese, ham, milk, and cereal. That's it. Prices: Compared to other hostels in Europe (esp. Italy) the prices here are not only reasonable, but they are very cheap! Because this was a group booking, I did not have the option of shopping around. Still, the prices they indicate are very cheap. Maybe these prices are normal in Cracow Other notes: There are laundry facilities on site, so if you want or need to wash your clothes, you don't have to go hunting for a laundromat, We were a group of exchange students who booked up the entire place, so I can't say for sure. However, it seems that this is what you call a "Party Hostel", based on the bar inside. (Bar did not operate when our group was there).

When I stayed at Hostel Giraffe in summer 2009, I was very impressed! I always thought of hostels…read moreas being kind of sketchy in a "you get what you paid for" sort of way. Hostel Giraffe totally changed my mind. I went with 4 friends and we stayed in one of the rooms that held 12 (6 bunk beds). Pros: --not far from the train station --there is free WiFi, free washer/dryer, and free toast in the morning --there is a bar IN the hostel. One of the nights we spent in Krakow was very rainy and it was great not to have to go out in the rain, but still be able to hang out and have fun at a bar. --rooms were very cleanly, as were the bathrooms and showers --they have a cabinet/cupboard (that locks) for each person staying in the multi-person rooms --staff was very friendly and helpful. The front desk had maps of Krakow for free -- along with maps for other major European cities. I wound up taking a couple and used them later when I went to Berlin with friends. Cons: --a 10-15 minute walk to the main square and 20-25 minute walk to Wawel Castle. I am sure there are hostels closer to these two points of interest (or in between them), but if you dont mind a bit of walking, Hostel Giraffe is wonderful. It is also probably cheaper than some of the closer options.

The place had plenty of bathrooms/showers, and a nice lounge space on the first floor with a full bar. The hostel was quite clean/orderly/quite considering it was a party hostel. The only negative was that it seemed somehow to smell a bit smoky in our room even though we obviously hadn't smoked and were on a higher floor (maybe from the open window from outside?). The free self-service breakfast buffet (simple cheeses, cold cut meats, toast, yogurt, cereal, milk, etc) was a very nice touch. Our group attended the pub crawl that the hostel organizes and unfortunately I lost my phone. The host of that night (Bryanh) worked to help me recover it and I am SO thankful to avoid a disaster thanks to his above-and-beyond service. Would recommend due to good price, fun atmosphere, and great staff. (We did not experience the negatives that others on this page did - but we also had a six-bunk female only room, and luckily enough it was just three of us)

Incredibly inexpensive. Granted, I was staying in a 14-bed room, but there was an inset area…read more(whatever you'd call it where there's a space for a door but no door, like between a living room and dining room in many houses). A good amount of space for all the people in there because the room was so long (more space than I've had in 4 bed hostel rooms). The bathrooms were clean enough and had hot water, so no complaints there. Lockboxes in the room. They'll do your laundry for you and return it later in the day, which is handy. Not everyone that works there speaks great English, but it was enough to get by. They bill themselves as a party hostel, and it was a lot of fun. There's a bar with pretty good drink specials, they organize pub/club crawls which were fun and not particularly expensive (especially given you're getting a shot or drink almost everywhere). A great way to meet people. Very central location. Ticks off everything I really want in a hostel.
