I went back to my high school, GCHS, at the beginning of football season to watch my nephew play against my alma mater. Did it feel strange to sit on the visitor's side? Heck yeah! Especially because my nephew plays for a nearby rival school. But this is what you do for family;)
The line was kind of long to pay for an entry ticket but it went quickly. If I remember correctly the tickets were $6. The football stadium looked totally different than it did in the 80s, which was the last time I attended a game. But in a great way!
The concession offered hamburgers and hot dogs with the fixins. Although they were out of chili sauce so I went for a grilled burger. It was decent and the cost didn't break the bank. I also bought a water and later purchased some peanut M&Ms. There were several tables to the side of the home bleachers where you could sit and enjoy your meal.
There were a couple of food trucks at one end of the field on the track. Although I don't remember what they were because I didn't pay attention.
I did start on the home side so I could watch my great-niece cheer for a few mintues and I got to see the GCHS football team come out as they walked across the bottom row of the bleachers before hitting the field. I thought this was a nice touch!
I would absolutely go back for another football game. It was a fun night with my family! read more
