Had green side service my sprinklers for the past 2 years. This year I noticed after they had turned on my sprinklers that the back flow was dripping after they left. Called to have someone look at it and had to call twice just to get someone out. When they finally did come, they completely disassembled the back flow only to tell me it couldn't be fixed. Left with all the parts without even talking either me. I had to call and tell them to put it back together because apparently there is a rebuild kit that saves hundreds of dollars . But, ....... the worst part?? 3 separate plumbers while getting bids told me it was caused by improper winterizing and that the backflow should have been brought inside for. Then I go to buy the part and the supply company confirms all 3 plumbers statements. I called and left a message and the owner NEVER reached out to me, after I said I wasn't going to pay his 150.00 dollars service fee. What's joke. He owes me 2200 dollars for his lack of knowledge and incompetence. But that ok because I reported him to the BB and put in a claim with my American Express card used to pay the charge. What a loser. Professionally run company. I've used their fertilizer and weed control service for about 10 years. At one point we had lawn grubs and some other fungus stuff that another company could take care of. John and his team set our expecations and cleared it up. If I ever have to call the office they answer and if they ever have to make things right they are responsive. read more

Never had the techs arrive. Initial appointment was canceled by the tech as the house was being painted. Completely understand. Was given a window of 8-12 for arrival and was told that we were the first on the schedule since we were the first confirmed. I called at 1209, was told that the first job of the day (what happened to us???) was a bigger challenge than anticipated and we they would be here in an hour. Got a text at 118 PM stating that techs would be here in 20 minutes. Finally called at 210 PM and told them to cancel the entire appointment. Zero communication, no one ever showed. Would be a no-start review if possible. Unless you have unlimited time and patience, would not recommend these guys under any circumstances. read more

We couldn't have been more pleased with the responsiveness, pricing, communication, efficiency and value of Greenside. I appreciated that John offered a bid that was broken down bit by bit so we could tell him what we needed and what we could wait on for another time. The team came in here and got right to work, they were all very kind and helpful with all of my questions throughout the process. Once the job was completed, I had a few minor changes and they came right back and did them for us. I would absolutely work with Greenside again! Update - Weeks after the job was complete we had a little dead spot on our grass. Shaun came out THE very next day to check on the sprinkler head and swapped it out to ensure full coverage for our new sod. If every contractor worked this way the world would be a better place! Not reliable on times given. Gave me a 2hr window the day prior. Day of service arrived and no one showed. Called two hours after window to find out what was going on only to get excuses. Find someone else you can rely on, they will not communicate with you. You're treated as if in a Dr.'s office, they'll get to you when they'll get to you... read more

Horrible! I had appt. for 9am (waited 10 days to get it) no one showed. I called, they said someone called in sick, and they would send someone out in the afternoon. I asked for a window, they said between noon and 4pm. No one ever showed. Huge inconvenience for me! read more

No problems at all with their lawn treatment/fertilizer service. Sprinkler repair? Utter sham, overbilled disaster, technician who could not admit to making mistakes. Then, after our cancelling our contract with them, and telling them why, repeatedly, they kept sending people out---though we already had another lawn service. The disaster: in spring 2020, two sprinkler heads on our north lawn became nonfunctioning; we asked if their sprinkler repair techs could come out and replace them. (Though we know nothing about the mechanics of irrigation repair, we have had numerous repairs/replacements of sprinkler heads, and we knew this would not be complex or time-consuming. ) A lead tech and a very young assistant tech did appear. When they were done, we asked why they were also digging up a line. Because, the lead said, they didn't have the right kind of matching sprinkler heads, had a different kind, so they needed to dig up and replace the line, with one that would match the sprinkler heads they had with them. (I don't know about you, but I would want them to leave the lines alone, just replace sprinkler heads.) (The sprinkler heads we have are various kinds, and not unusual.) We were also perturbed, that, at the very height of coronavirus season, spring 2020, that this lead tech who came to the door wore no mask. But we noted, before they left, by looking out our windows, the two new sprinkler heads seemed to be working well. Later the same day, we turned on the system again for an evening watering; the one the young assistant worked on worked perfectly; the one the lead older tech worked on barely sprouted a bit of water. So, the next morning, we contacted Greenside. Greenside said they'd send them out again to fix. But, incredibly, they said the lead technician had told them we "must have tampered with the line or something." (Very bad sign in a repairman: refusing to admit there is ever the possibility he may have made mistakes. Blaming the customer for your mistakes? Bad idea!) Please, we said, tell him not to knock on the door this time (we did not want to have to deal with maskless lead tech who'd also, outrageously, accused us of "tampering"). We'd be sleeping in, we said. (Why would we tamper? We know nothing about sprinklers. Absolutely nothing. And if it failed the same day he fixed it, well, he'd be the one tampering with it, to fix it, certainly not us.) Unmasked lead technician in his fifties who was sure we "must have tampered with the line" did not the next day come to our door. But after he was done fixing the one sprinkler head he'd failed to properly fix before--he also went mad suddenly "fixing" many other things--which before had been working. Without any agreement from us: taking advantage of the fact we'd ask to not be bothered. And wrote up a bill for hundreds more dollars for what should absolutely have been one free re-repair. He dug up at least one more line, replaced more sprinkler heads, went nuts doing things never mentioned/malfunctioning before. Total bill we were given for all this came to much more, now, over half a grand, I believe, for the two visits, which was all because of two sprinkler heads which needed replacement. He's nuts, said my husband. Let's just write a nice letter and tell them thank you for all the incredibly expensive nice work and then never let them out here again. Which we did. Till we came to our senses a month or so later, realizing their tech had completely intimidated us, accused us falsely, and their company supported his bad work, and overfilling. Our complaints went nowhere, with Greenside, so we complained to the fraud department of our bank. But the company produced the nice letter we had written which was our "please-go-away" letter. Hiding our last letter to them, which began: "Dear Greenside, we have finally come to our senses. We will not pay this bill." The bank, which had been very sympathetic about the sudden new work and the billing us extravagantly, was fooled. And at that point, the Covid virus pandemic was at full tilt, we didn't have the energy to pursue the lawn service further. Then--months later--fall 2020--Greenside was out again. Another auto-billed lawn treatment. Though we had made very clear we were done with them. Then spring 2021--two men were outside, aerating our lawn. Sent by Greenside, they said. We had cancelled our contract with Greenside--a long time ago, we told them. Tell them, we said, we cancelled almost--a year ago. And that we now have a fine new lawn service. Note: there are good lawn services in town which, if you are unhappy in any way with their sprinkler repair services, will even pay for sending another sprinkler service to repair it for you--just as you like. (With technicians who, when their work fails, don't blame the customer, the same day, when it fails, don't add new "fixes" and present a new bill for what should have been one free repair!) read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I rescheduled work twice for appointments with this company to fix a broken sprinkler valve. The first time, they came 20 minutes after the 4 hour window and didn't have the parts to fix the problem so we rescheduled. On the day of the rescheduled appointment, I was given a window of 1:00 to 5:00 pm. After coming home early from work, no one ever came for the appointment. They were a total no show, without even a call. 0 out of 10. Do not recommend. read more

Couldn't be more disappointed in their service. Spent all summer working with them to get rid of crab grass that they assured every time they left would be gone. Now it's September and I had to hire a new law service to take care of it, which they did in less than a week. Also, prices for sprinkler repair are outrageous as they require a minimum of 2 people on site at all times at $110/hour even if it's a one man job. Tried to charge me $650 for a simple replacement valve and pipe because they had 3 people on site, even though only one was actually working. There are too many other lawn care specialists to waste your time with this one read more

I wouldn't use them again or refer anyone. After pushing our start back several weeks for "larger projects", they cut corners on the job and didn't even do everything we asked. When questioned on the work done and the work billed for, the response was that there was nothing they could do and that was the way the business is. I called GreenSide for a lawn fertilizing program because I wanted to support a local business. They were eager to come out and give me a quote and seemed genuinely interested to get my business. Unfortunately that's where the positive experience ended. I started on their program and my lawn did not see much improvement. I still had dandelions coming up after multiple treatments. I expressed my concern but it didn't feel like it was heard at all. I have a small dog and asked that they make sure that they close the gate to the backyard after treating it. The first treatment went fine. The next treatment they left one of the gates open, luckily I work from home and was able to discover it before my dog ran away. The next treatment they left BOTH of my gates open. I called to cancel my treatment program since the results were less than impressive as well as their lack of consideration regarding the gates. I let them know that I'd like to cancel my service, she took my information and said ok. I asked if she'd like to know why I'm cancelling, she said, "no, that's not my job". I anticipated a possible follow up call but never received one. Apparently they don't need my business after all. read more
