Manila…read moreConvenience Store changed its name from another tie-in to Filipino culture which escapes me at the moment, but the service level and selection remain the same - that is to say unparalleled. There are around 25 freezers lining the store like a soft down pillow, filled to the brim with frozen packets of longanesa, tocino, spring roll wrapping papers and other assorted breakfast and lunch delicacies. At least I would imagine they are packed at some point because people go through that stuff quick! The rows are tightly packed together, and the shelves are tightly packed with assorted goodies: pork rinds, lechon sauce, salty crisps and sweet treats, hot chocolate mix, toiletries - you name it, chances are you can find it here. And of course the staff are quite helpful and friendly, with the occasional language barrier mishap adding to the overall pleasantness. A gem of a grocery store! 25/30

Growing up; whenever I wanted authentic Filipino desserts and snacks that my Mom would talk about,…read morewe had to wait for a giant Balikbayan (Literally "Go Home," or "Go back to the Homeland") box to arrive at the house. Usually three times a year. Then we moved to Daly City, which is like mini-Manila right in the Bay Area. Pandesal, Polvoron, Choc-Nut were all suddenly down the block, instead of a three month wait. Manila Convenience Store reminds me of those times. Everyone who works here is incredibly friendly, remembers your name, and what you like. They'll set a couple aside for you if you mention it's your favorite. They'll patiently listen to your out-of-practice Tagalog. A couple of times a week, they'll get fresh baked goods in. I'll undo a week's worth of sit-ups for fresh sapin-sapin covered in toasted coconut. Stop here for snacks and then Willow Park Wine & Spirits for San Miguel, and you'll have all the things you need for a Pacquiao Fight-Night party. Even frozen banana leaves to thaw out and place on the table, for extra fanciness! If the steep prices at the few Calgary Filipino restaurants have deterred you, you can pick up Filipino delicacies in one of the many freezers at Manila Convenience; to re-heat and try out at home. What I always get? The vegan salt and vinegar pork rinds :).

I suggest to anyone who has shopped there, check your bank statements and purchase history! Ask for receipts every time!

Many times I've given up and tried to find a better time of day. But no matter when I come or how many people are working in there( today it was 6) I wait. Then the pharmacist tied to charge me $67 for a drug that is %100 covered by my insurance. A generic drug has recently come on the market, causing my insurance to only pay the generic cost. They did not explain that. I went from paying $2 to $67 and they didn't think to mention anything. They got all that education in drug interactions but have zero skills in people interactions.

She pushed his items to the back and then started putting my items through - which resulted in our items getting mixed up. I asked her to stop doing that and to hand me my items, she was extremely surly. She charged me twice for the eggs I purchased; didn't realize this until I got home. I contacted the store and left a message but didn't receive a call back. I'm paying a lot of money for groceries and now being charged twice. Would not recommend this store to anyone.

This Canada Post is quite unique as it's located in a one-off Cigar and Drycleaning Business…read more"Southland Cigar & Dry Cleaning", if you're like me you're probably used to finding Canada Post in drug and grocery stores so I thought it was a bit odd to find this post office here. I won't be commenting on the standalone business itself as I didn't really browse their offerings (maybe next time). Instead I will comment on the Post Office itself. This location has all the usual necessities: stamps, boxes, money orders, forms, guides and passport apps. So really no complaints, it's a functional post office with shipping services and yup they take debit and credit. Despite me saying I didn't browse the store, I did note that they did have some greeting cards which is a smart idea. Both times I've been there it didn't take long to get service despite the store employee managing both the store and post office registers. He was friendly and professional both times. So if you're in this neck of the woods it's good to know that there is a secret post office hidden in the Southland Crossing Shopping Centre, may save you from making a trip to a further post office (this is the plaza with the Safeway FYI). My biggest knock against this location is that the signage is awful! Honestly the only reason I know about it is because I had a parcel sent here when I wasn't at home to pick it up. That's about it for this one, cheers!

They have a decent candy & snack selection along with some juices, pops, etc., and they recently added some slurpee machines. (Well, "Frozen Drinks" machines, but even the cashier at Cirlcle K the other week called the froster I was buying a slurpee, so the post-it note on the machine here is referring to the style/kind of drink the machine makes.) Edit: Oh I forgot, they also have a coffee machine too, it's beside the slurpee machine.
