I highly recommend this facility if you're in the heartbreaking situation where you need dementia care for a family member. But be cautious and double-check everything related to billing & payments. Billing is handled by an external vendor & they're ok. They do their job and work with the information provided to them by local management. There's been turnover in management over the years. My experience (working in Sr. Management for a Fortune 100 company for 30 years) is when you see turnover in the management ranks, there's a problem. So, I highly recommend Bickford for the care they provide. But be cautious with anything related to record keeping & billing. Their billing vendor can only work with what they're provided by local management. I recommend to self audit charges & payments and bring issues (in writing via email) to local management immediately. Overall, care is 5 stars. Local management & billing is not even 1 star.

The Bickford is the place to select only if you do not want your loved one to thrive. This comes…read moreafter two years of frustration watching our loved one become depressed in their care. In our opinion, the problems reside at both the corporate and local management level. There are several nurses on staff that are wonderful and caring. Unfortunately, it's not enough to help your loved one thrive. First, this place cannot keep aids and because of that, it affects not just the level of care, but also the safety and happiness of the residents. Our loved one often didn't receive scheduled showers, which is both a hygiene and mental wellness issue. Once our loved one got stuck in a hall bath for over an hour. This is despite pressing that watch they make all the residents pay for and wear. Second, the food quality is extremely poor. It's like nutrition is an afterthought. They will make it seem like the menu is awesome, but in reality it is not. They will tell you if a resident doesn't like what's on the menu, they can always order a sandwich. Ours would try to do that, but something as simple as a grilled cheese wouldn't be delivered causing our loved one to go without a meal that lunch. Once, our loved one ordered a piece of toast. They didn't even bring that out. The Director told us that the menu is controlled by corporate and local chefs hands are tied. Does that make the kitchen team not care? Perhaps. Often we took our loved one out to eat just so a proper meal could be had. It's just always someone blaming someone else for the numerous problems of this place. The Director is never around. She is very nice, but unfortunately, it doesn't appear she knows how to manage, or perhaps, corporate doesn't let her manage. We don't know. The staff is always talking about her never being around and because of a lack of oversight, nothing is getting resolved. Our biggest takeaway from our loved one, as well as the other residents, is that there is NOTHING TO DO. That's right. You pay $8,400 per month to watch your loved one become depressed and in turn, simply look forward to dying. We selected the Bickford because they sold us on their numerous activities and we wanted our loved one to have fun and companionship. But slowly over two years they ceased all activities. They rarely went on outings; they stopped exercises and they even stopped card games. The only thing left is bingo, which is put on by St. Patrick's Catholic Church every two weeks. Why did our rent go up over two years when all services, staff and food decreased? This is for a resident that has a one bedroom unit (we even did laundry) and requires very little assistance (help with meds, help with showers). Unfortunately for the residents that like to sit outside, they even took their seating away recently. WHY? This isn't a prison, but it feels like it. We want our loved ones to be happy and nourished and stimulated. Instead, all these poor residents are becoming depressed and unhappy. They only have TV to keep them company, and that's not healthy. In fact, the majority of the residents coming in lately are severely debilitated and cannot communicate. Our loved one's companions dwindled as they watched others smartly leave for other facilities and unable to communicate with new replacements. Isolated and unhappy. Moreover, Bickford simply doesn't care how you feel. Every month corporate asks you for feedback, to which they simply don't address if it's negative. So folks, if you want your loved one to become depressed, unhealthy and generally unwell, put them here. Within a few days of moving our loved one, smiles returned! Phew! We are so thankful to be done with the Bickford. We're putting this out there to warn anyone else so you do not buy into the picture perfect facility they will try to sell you on. It's far from that. Don't believe the lies. If you are looking for a facility for your loved one, spend time talking to the current residents, not the sales people. That's the only way to get the real scoop.

She was placed under hospice care right after we moved her into the Robin's Nest. Then, the care provided by Dr. Ross and her professional caregivers, kept her alive and over time she improved. She gained strength and was taken off hospice care. She enjoyed the personal care provided and the other new friends she met. She became a welcomed member in the family of ladies that resided there. She loved her new "home." Dr. Ross has created an upscale senior living concept that exceeds anything that you find in any of Chicago's Senior Care facilities. The intimate homelike atmosphere, the family style dining and entertainment, provided my Mom with a comfortable way to enjoy her later life. The Robin's Nest is an excellent alternative to the dormitory style nursing homes that exist today. Over time, Mom's heart grew weaker and finally failed on the 4th of July this year. She was surrounded by her family and new friends. She had a smile on her face until her final day. I highly recommend considering the Robin's Nest for the Senior Care needs of your loved one. Dr. Ross cares about seniors and cares for mothers. I know that from personal experience.

We do not hesitate to recommend Robin's Nest, it was a life-saving placement for us at the time we moved my brother and had him come under Dr. Ross's care. Dr. Ross and her staff treat their residents with the utmost respect and care, and we do not hesitate to recommend a Robin's Nest facility for those seeking a warm, loving and personal environment for their loved ones.

They make sure to update you on everything going on with your family member that lives there. They have such neat outings for the residents there and before Covid happened you were allowed to partake in the fun activities with your loved one. They have fun activities all day long to keep the residents active. All the caregivers, nurses and staff know you by name and always make sure that you're a part of everything going on there. I can't truly thank the Staff enough for making the emotional process of placing my dad in a memory care home an easier one. They are with you every step of the way. I highly recommend the Arden Courts Geneva. They also do a lot of great volunteer work within the community to help with charities. My dad really enjoys this place. They recently just remodeled it so it looks really nice inside and always is super clean. My dad has lived there five months now ( in 2021) this was one of the best decisions for our family. They abide by all the Covid restriction laws to make sure the residents there are kept safe and healthy. My dad loves the food there too. They even have a comfort dog named Mia there. My dad enjoys seeing her. Thank you again to all the staff that works there.

These two women held my hands, dried my tears and help to guide me through this very scary and unfamiliar journey. In early Feb 2019, I was suddenly facing the fact that we need to move a loved one from Texas to Illinois; who was showing advancing signs of memory loss/dementia. Dennis, 72 years old, needed to be in a safe place to live, with doctors and caregivers to watch over him and see that he took his prescribed medicines and was provided 3 good meals every day, which he was no longer able to do on his own. The caregivers at Arden Courts are kind, compassionate and so very patient with these residents who have been diagnosed with this insidious and sad disease. At Arden Courts it really is possible for a person with a diagnosis of dementia to have a good quality of life. Arden Courts lives up to the promises in their brochure by providing structured, daily activities allowing their residents to socialize and interact with other residents and staff, adding to their quality of daily life. The entire staff, especially Pam, Justine and Nurse Nina have given our family total piece of mind 24/7. Their monthly support group offers a wonderful opportunity for family members and caregivers to know that they are not alone in navigating this journey with their loved ones. We continue to be ever grateful that Arden Courts was there in our time of need and we highly recommend this and their sister facilities for anyone needing care for their family members having memory loss/dementia. Thank you, the family of Dennis G.

Having her return home was no longer an option; which led me to quickly get to up to speed on senior living options, mostly on my own. I found her a place & moved her in all before her release. While I ensured her safety, I second guessed my decisions as she vocally struggled to adjust; it was a lot of change particularly for someone who rarely left her home. Almost 6 months in, a different set of doubts & worries took over. Did I make the right call, could she live somewhere more affordable, would she outlive her money, etc. I don't even recall what search term led me to Senior Living Experts, but I'm grateful. Rebecca listened to my story and made me feel less alone. She thought where my mom was at was the best option in terms of cost, desired location and care needs addressed, but would do the research and circle back. We also discussed the care she received currently and provided a few suggestions. As promised, Rebecca followed up and confirmed her initial assessment. Yes, I'll still worry about her finances, but I now have a better understanding of the landscape and what comes should her care needs increase. If I had a do over, I would have started with Senior Living Experts, they are amazing!
