I can only say terrific things about Ellis and Soglund electric…read more When I moved here I was really suffering with electrical issues with lights going out and not even having the electricity that I would need due to the fact that I had such a horrible realtor and such a bad inspection so there were so many things to fix that I was inundated with issues. The horrible electrician that was referred to me through the realtor I have already written a review about was an absolute waste of time and put me back another 3 to 4 months after being ignored during winter months when I was really worried about losing light! I was so incredibly grateful to find Soglund and Electric and I found them through my ranch because his brother worked at our ranch. It took about a month and a half to get him to come out but that was not his fault it was because he was so overwhelmed with work as most electricians are but he kept in touch with me all the way and was always available through text or phone call. He never just ignored me or disappeared like the other guy. When Ellis arrived he got all the work done in two days and was able to put a brand new lighting in my living room so that I could see and would not be out of light he was able to fix a lot of vintage lights and vintage items for me in my house he was even able to replace a plug on an old vintage lamp since everything I have is mid century. He didn't complain about my stuff and tell me oh you know you need to replace this with all new stuff like the other jerk did he knew how to repair existing electric. He did perfect work and I do believe he even tried to save me money, he was so kind to go to the store and get extra lightbulbs for me and bring them back without charging me. He did so many nice things I can't even begin but posting photos will give an idea. I would highly recommend this company and I would tell people not to bother with the other two or three in the area. One only does new electric and the other one ignores people even after an estimate and disappears. This is really the only company in this area where we are so limited. I will always continue to go back to Ellis and I am so grateful for everything yodid for me.

Definitely an example of the worst of Lincoln City! Why anyone would use this terrible company is…read morebeyond me! I first called Tony when I was still living in another state and asked him to do work on my home here in Otis, Oregon before I got here since he had worked on this home before and with familiar with it and also had worked with the realtor to finish up some of the contingency work. That first job went pretty well although it took about a month or more to get a phone call return. The work was not cheap either. When I finally moved here I figured we were on good terms since I paid on time, I did not complain and I was very patient with the long wait . This is typical in Lincoln city with everyone. However I am fortunate enough to have some great workers now. M&W is no longer on my list. Now that I was in town there were electrical issues with the house that we're not handled properly with the inspector or the realtors that of course is another story. Like many businesses here in Lincoln City, the real estate industry is just as corrupt. Buyer beware I will talk about that in another review. I called Tony around October and got a call back with inspection in Mid November, thought things were coming along! He informed me that my situation was an emergency situation both porch lights did not work and I live rural so it's completely pitch dark at night I also had living room lights that needed to be replaced plus other stuff so basically my lighting is OK to me but I do supplement with kerosene lanterns due to the fact that I am missing what is really needed. Tony is a total SALESMAN, he complains nonstop and expects you to agree with EVERYTHING he says and if you don't he disparages you and insults your ideas. To add he hates anything old or vintage so having the desire to keep original fixtures or usable switches make him cringe. Simply put YOU MUST AGREE WITH ALL HIS IDEAS!! So I faked it to get my simple repairs done! He was supposed to email or paper copy send an estimate within a week or two, remember this is mid November . I had to call three times and beg for my estimate! Eventually in my last call I said, "hey if I don't hear from you by January 1st I will figure something out, since it's an "emergency". No response, not even sorry I am too busy or can't get to you sorry! NOTHING. I have now finally sought out a new electrician thankfully and he also had much to say about Tony. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. If anyone is so rude they can't let you know they are too busy or don't want the job they don't deserve work from anyone!

You are a horrible company and each interaction just reinforces that opinion. It is ILLEGAL to add charges after the fact. If you fail to fully inform customers, the fault is yours, the loss is yours. I reiterate, customers STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.) UPDATE: I just received a collection notice for the amount of the bill I did not pay as I was not told about the extra charge until after the work was completed, This is illegal business behavior. STAY AWAY from these people, they can not be trusted. ORIGINAL review: RE: Above Board Electric in Newport, Oregon I can not recommend this company. A technician came out the same day I called, but I was not told this and I was not home, fortunately, a friend was using my kitchen and let him in. The technician said I needed new batteries and a new charger for my stairlift and emailed me what to get and where to get it. He was wrong about the charger. It just needed a new fuse. An invoice was emailed to me, which I never received. Today I was called and told I owed $214.74, although, I was originally only told of a $145 an hour charge. I was told the rest was probably a travel charge. When I said I had not been told about the travel charge, that part of the bill should have been dropped. (Frankly, they should have been able to tell me over the phone what the problem was since they were wrong about the charger and did not even look at the chair itself.)
