Our experience here was the worst interaction in a very long time. We travel a lot and accept a wide range of things to be within 'spec'. This one was mind numbing. When inquiring about what beers were available, we were told that we wanted Coors Light because it was the only cold beer they had. There was only one white wine, a reisling by the glass. I ordered from the slim red selection and it was served warm to me, as only a fresh out of the dishwasher glass can make it. Points for alcohol with dinner - 0 The waiter raved about their 4-8 lb lobsters. (The larger they are, the less tender, so what's special about selling second rate catch?) When I inquired about the local meats in the Acadian pie, I was simply told I would not like the dish instead of answering my question. After inquiring about the sea foods in another dish I was told that I should order the most expensive sea food dish because the one I was asking about wasn't very good. The young man apparently has a stereotype of their customers being unsuspecting tourists. We should have left the restaurant at this point. When we called the maitre di over to get a refill on the warm Molson's , we commented on the terrible social skills of the waiter and she offered to get a more pleasant waiter for us. Instead, the original waiter came back over to inform us that he's not a waiter, but the nephew of the owner and was helping out with the short staff. The swagger, the arrogance, was just over the top, and we mutually agreed with him not to wait for our meal to be served. Not giving us a more pleasant waiter probably saved us from a poor meal, so all in all. So no, we can't comment on the food itself, but if you have a quality product, you don't need a used car salesman to push it. So if you're considering eating at the Green House,don't ask for a recommendation on where to eat. Ask where they'd eat. You wouldn't be Yelping this restaurant if you lived here, you'd know. read more

So-so food for high prices is basically my summary of this place. We went to the Green House on a day I was craving a lobster roll. We're in Shediac. In my opinion, it should basically be impossible to find a place that doesn't serve lobster rolls. Well, we found one. Our server told us that people ask for lobster rolls all the time, but the restaurant aims to be 'upscale' and therefore strives to have choices that are a little 'different' than usual fare. That's fine, but our experience was FAR from upscale. They were renovating at the time, and while my husband and I were there, the crew was actually working around us, measuring and going over design plans. One of the other parties also for some reason had some kind of boom box, which they were blaring, and this was apparently OK. We also had an extra long wait for any drinks or food, and the server told us that this was because the kitchen staff was having a shift change over. Huh?? What do they have to do to change over? Have a friggin huddle for 15 minutes? Wouldn't one just pick up where the other left off? Shouldn't you schedule your kitchen staff so as not to leave gaps like this? I ordered some sort of seafood casserole, which when it FINALLY arrived, was completely drowning in sauce with not a heck of a lot of meat. It would have been better advertised as a soup. But lo and behold there was some lobster in there. Our server was friendly, and was apologetic for our wait, and the screened-in patio is actually really nice (aside from plastic chairs, but hey, you're on a patio), but improvements definitely need to be made if they want to maintain, or even develop, an upscale image. read more

I was hesitant about eating here given the reviews. I was concerned since my friends said it was amazing but the reviews on Yelp said it was terrible. I will have to disagree with my fellow yelpers on this restaurant. The Green House on Main was pretty good. I had the open faced seafood sandwich which was served on delicious garlic bread topped vegetables, seafood (crab, scallops, baby shrimp and lobster) and layered with cheese. The sandwich was served with a choice of fries, poutine, soup or salad. I decided to get a poutine to share and a house salad. The portion size was good, I left feeling full but not stuffed. The house salad was great, it had a sweet mango dressing. The poutine on the other hand was quite salty, but still good. I found that the waitress, Whitney, was sweet, super accommodating and friendly. I didn't order wine because I thought their drink menu was unimpressive, consisting mostly of sodas. read more

Went for the first time 2 weeks ago on a sunday night. Loved the atmosphere. There was a man playing guitar the whole time , i loved that. The food was not bad... just ok. I think it's usually better , ill try again soon (we did not take the buffet either) read more

The restaurant is in an old house on main street in Shediac, with a small parking lot out back. The dining room has maybe 6 or 7 tables, and one waitress on the night I was there. The seafood dinner I had was tasty, but seemed much more expensive than it should be. The restaurant does aim to be an upscale restaurant, but the prices are still out of line with the overall experience. read more

If I were writing this in 2008 after my last meal here, it would receive 5 STARS. I will now give it 1. After reading all of these reviews I thought that maybe they were not reviewing The Green House on Main Street where I have eaten many times. The last time was in 2008. Then it was just as delicious as we found it many times previously. We used to vacation on PEI and on our way home (to the States) we would carefully time our drive to permit us to dine here...it was that good and not to be missed! The menu was very creative. Clearly the chef was a superb cook. Our seafood chowder had the claws from about 5 lobsters...the sweetest of the meat. The shrimp were large as were the sea scallops...all perfectly cooked...neither under nor overcooked! The salads were gorgeous, fresh and delicious. And the fruit snd cheese platters (which we chose in place of desserts) were also beautifully chosen and presented. We always received great service too. I suspect it has changed hands several times since then and oh well...sad to say, it went downhill. I think it is even for sale again now! I am planning a trip this summer, but doubt I will bother. It would be too disappointing. I would rather keep my delectable memories intact! read more

I'm a resident of Shediac and I go to Green House restaurant at least once a month for lunch. It is under new ownership since last year I believe and since last summer, this restaurant is at the top of my list for great food, very affordable prices (around $10 for a meal) and pretty good service. I would recommend it for sure. read more

A friend and I arrived at 11:30 for lunch. Only a couple of others there. But it quickly filled up. Decor lovely, food good and lucnh menu reasonably priced. Our server Nathalie was very much in the wrong job. We did not get to leave until 1:30. I asked to have uneaten portion boxed - no problem- but we never saw food again. I asked for one bill and if I could buy gift certificates. She did not know but would find out. 30 minutes later she returned with "gift certificates in her pocket" and bill - NO FOOD and would meet us at counter. Immediately we went to the counter but did not see her for another 15 to 20 minutes. 3 other servers asked who served us. When she approached us she got into an argument about table 74 as they inquired why the hold up for their order. Not her table, yes it was, did not take their order. Now back to us. Must ring certificates separately ---not a problem for me. Food cost processed. Gift certificates processed. OH DEAR I have to get supervisor cause I coded food wrong and will need to reverse that charge and re do it. She took my food receipt. Returned later no I guess it is alright. If gift certificates totalling $50. had not been processed I would have left them there and I DO HOPE my friend visiting from Calgary next month will get better service for these than I did. Needless to say I did not tip nor will I return. We went a few places down on Main Street and had dessert and cold beverage. Waitress very attentive. I trust management will view this and correct the behaviour of their worker or assist her in learning the job better. read more

Very terrible service! I could write a book on how bad the service was(but I won't and I will keep it shorter then I would like). I HAVE never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant in my life.The wait was also unbelievable. Over an hour and half (when we went at 4 on a Sunday and there were ONLY 2 other tables occupied) We were treated terribly by our server. We were IGNORED. We questined what we did wrong to deserve this treatment. It was awkward and uncomfortable. We watched everyone around us get served even though they arrived so long after us(Us= my husband and I). Our server even interrupted our meal after we just received it to say she needed to take a lunch break because she hadn't had a break all day ( not my problem) to ask us to pay her now and settle our bill. This was August 7th 2011. On top of this horrifying experience I expressed my comments and sent them via email to a manager or whoever the email address goes to and NEVER received a response. So a week or so later I sent the same email again...And guess what no response. So all in all the owner does not care how he or his staff treats their customers. He does not care about the feedback we gave. He's basically condoning (promoting) poor customer service and ill treatment of his patrons. I will continue to discourage people from eating here...The word will be spread in hopes that something changes. read more
