Flavorful Dishes with Some Service and Policy Quirks Green Eggs Café in Philly offers a memorable brunch experience, but it's not without its quirks. Let's start with the food:The Crème Brûlée French Toast was incredibly rich and decadent--vanilla extract and heavy cream really came through, making it bold and flavorful (though it might be too much for some). The Short Rib Egg Roll and Egg White Omelette were both packed with flavor and cooked well. Unfortunately, the Cheesy Hash Brown was a letdown--it came out as an overcooked, fried rectangle lacking the texture and taste I expected. We went around 10 a.m. on a Friday. It was busy, but we were seated right away. The interior was clean, modern, and decently spacious without feeling cramped. Metered parking is available along the side street ($2 for 2 hours), which was convenient. Pros: * Flavorful, creative dishes * Fast food prep despite the crowd * Diverse menu with fresh ingredients Cons: * Service didn't match the food quality--our server responded "I don't know" to basic menu questions and never checked in after food was delivered * An automatic 18% gratuity is charged on checks over $50 (a policy I haven't seen in this kind of setting) * Cash only, which isn't made super obvious ahead of time * Policy posted on every table says if your dish isn't to your liking, it can only be remade "to the chef's standard"--which feels a bit rigid and unwelcoming Would I come back? For the food, yes. But I'd manage my expectations around service and the unusual business practices.

Went on a Sunday afternoon as a group of 6. We only had a 10 minute wait, which was better than I expected. So thank you. The service was great, no complaints. I ordered the strawberry matcha, short rib Benedict, and a side of silver dollar pancakes. The strawberry matcha was good, it has cut up strawberries which got stuck in the straw. That made the drink hard to drink. The short rib Benedict was really good. It came with a cheesy hash on the bottom but I couldn't taste the hash. The short rib and hollandaise sauce combined were a salty which is why I think the breakfast potatoes would be a better base. The silver dollar pancakes were probably the worst part of my meal. At first I thought it was the syrup but the pancakes had a strange taste which is why I sent them back to get the breakfast potatoes. That was the best thing to offset the salty short rib. So order the potatoes instead of the cheesy hash as a base. I've been to a few of there locations before and I always forget it's cash only. They have an ATM available but in this day and age who carries around cash. That's just annoying to have to get cash. My personal pet peeve is group dinners where you have to calculate how much people owe, and being cash only makes it even worse. My other issue was that they have one price on their menu but the receipt had a different price. Yes it was a $2 difference but why? False advertisement much. The last thing that was annoying is that the menu says there's a 18% service fee but that's not gratuity. We asked the waitress and she say "yes and no"- yes it's gratuity but not it's not gratuity because it's split. Overall I'll still go back to the restaurant but just know I'll get annoyed by a few things.

Don't go. The manager Nita was the rudest person I have encountered in a very long time. The food was good, and our waitress Natalia was wonderful. However Nita had a nasty attitude from the moment we walked in the door. When we asked if we could have another chair for a guest who was arriving later, she said no and said she could not hold the table next to us either. I asked her what the solution was then, she just kept saying she couldn't hold the table- which we never asked her to do. When our waitress added a chair and we made space on one side of the table for it without putting it in the aisle, Nita came and without saying a word to us lifted the chair over her head and took it away! I've never seen anything like that. As I was leaving I asked Nita for her name and said I had some comments for her. She said her name was Nita and said to me "please don't come back." After my friends and I spent $200 in her restaurant. This woman is incredibly unprofessional and should stay in the back doing dishes instead of being forward facing with customers. Her attitude and customer service are deplorable. She should be fired immediately. And not to worry. I will never spend a dime in the establishment again.

We came to the Green Eggs Cafe in Brewerytown today after the Rocky Run 5k today. My group was a party of 9 and we as about 5 other similar sized groups showed up at the same time. The service was fast and efficient and the food was divine! I will definitely be coming back!

My first brunch of 2024 was in Philadelphia, since I spent New Year's Eve there. This place was spacious with plenty of seating, popular, yet able to accommodate our decently sized group. The interior was cute. I know I wanted one of the specialty coffee drinks, and went with the Salted Caramel Mocha Latte. This consisted of caramel syrup, espresso, steamed milk, sea salt, topped with whipped cream and drizzles of caramel / chocolate sauces. Absolutely delicious with strong taste of both flavors, creamy and sweet coffee. The Skillets sounded really good, so I ordered the Kitchen Sink one, which included 3 scrambled eggs, sausage crumbles, gruyere cheese, potatoes, peppers, onions, topped with sausage gravy, jumbo biscuit, in a cast iron skillet. This was HUGE and full of great, bold flavor. The eggs were cooked perfectly, sausage was tender and well seasoned, veggies were fresh and just the right consistency, while the biscuit was flaky, buttery, and the cheese was wonderfully melty. All the ingredients worked beautifully together, making for mouthwatering bites. I took more than half home and it tasted just as good the next day. Service was great. The waitress was welcoming and helpful. Prices are reasonable and it is important to note the restaurant is cash only. I definitely enjoyed my dining experience here.

I had the French toast board, which was a third of a regular sized portion of three different kinds of French toast: Creme Brulee | Cinnamon Bun| Cookie Dough. The cookie dough and cinnamon bun French toasts were my favorite! I will definitely get them again when I go back (yes, I will be planning on returning here!) The place is first come first served and cash only. The prices are reasonable especially for the portion sizes.

I have been to a few locations of Green Eggs, but not the one on Girard Ave! I was happy to meet up with family and enjoy a meal together! The staff were friendly and service prompt! The space offers spread out tables (not on top of fellow patrons) as some Green Eggs locations tend to do! The food portions continue to be plentiful and prepared perfectly! Cash Still Rules at Green Eggs!

Delicious! We came by from out of state and we have been seeing all the raving reviews for this place so we had to try. The breakfast eggrolls were tasty and different, French toast was delicious especially the cream topping, Benedict was great and so was the cheesy hash. The chips ahoy latte did not have much flavor just tasted like a regular iced latte unfortunately. The service was great no complaints there. Definitely a go to when visiting Philly.

I first bookmarked Green Eggs Cafe because of their specialty french toasts, but I ended up getting something else entirely. I wanted something savory but was warned the skillets would be huge. I split a weekly special, the Chicken Chilaquiles Skillet, with a friend. Two of our other friends got The Cure and The Kitchen Sink, which were huge too. Definitely plan to share if you get one. You can maybe finish it if you're a big eater. My friend and I also split another weekly special, the Mango Empanadas. They're more like mango cheesecake empanadas, though. I felt that the breading was too salty and the mango flavor didn't stand out in the cheesecake filling. I also tasted a bit of the Cinnamon Bun French Toast from a friend, which was too sweet for my tastes but did taste like cinnamon buns. Well done. Overall, Green Eggs Cafe has some unique dishes, but I don't think the quality is worth it for the price. It's also a little pricey for a cash-only joint. ($19 ish for a skillet) Note: It's a brunch chain in Philly, so the quality may differ between the branches.

The food was delicious and came fast. I personally didn't care for how expensive it's gotten over the years, but that happens. The server was really attentive. It's a really chiq environment, a nice place to take your mom out for brunch. Just be safe when you park.

Sundays are for brunch. Hungry and had time to spare. Seated right away. Parking is street parking only which can be challenging. Ordered a lavender honey latte and Oreo latte. Were delicious and worth the $6.00. The food order consisted of the chicken sandwich with home fries with onions and peppers. I probably won't get the home fries again. Very small cuts of potatoes. Ordered cheese grits which were very cheesy. I didn't order French toast but the ones that were coming out the kitchen looked delicious. Wide variety of food selections to include vegetarian Will visit again when in Philly.

Stumbled on this place nestled on a Brewerytown cozy corner actually in search of a different restaurant located on the same street. Being a Dr. Seuss fan there was no way we were going to walk passed without checking out what it was all about. One look at the menu and our original restaurant plan was quickly ditched. Who doesn't love breakfast, brunch and lunch served all day?! The menu offers a lot of options: sweet, savory or both! With coffees, lattes, teas and smoothies to complement your dining choice. Service is friendly and quick with a smile. We ordered the Creme Brûlée French Toast, Salted Caramel Banana Stuffed French Toast and sides of pork sausages and potatoes. When our main dishes arrived they were so beautiful we didn't want to ruin the art, but our stomachs won over quite quickly. The serving sizes are BIG! So come hungry. And oh boy, everything was fresh, hot and delicious. The Creme Brûlée French Toast was nicely balanced. The Caramel Banana Stuffed French Toast was very sweet, but we were warned hence the the sides to help off set. All in all a very nice accidental discovery. We would definitely revisit if in the area again. This place is CASH only! But there is an ATM at the door.

We have eaten at the high tops, in the main dining room, and at the tables extending into The Harper lobby, and each area feels like part of the same unified experience. The colors and lighting inside are especially warm and inviting, giving the room a glow that feels cozy and uplifting, especially during a Philadelphia winter. Food remains at the center of the experience, and my order is always the Jerusalem bagel with egg and cheese. On the rare occasions when turkey bacon appears, I add it as a welcome delicacy and a little extra sustenance, though the bagel is already delicious on its own. The cinnamon sugar kubaneh, the chocolate chip cookie, and the Bloody Mary are excellent. K'Far has also expanded its selection of bowls and salads since we ate here most regularly, and they look consistent with the quality of everything else. These days, a full breakfast here does not always fit within our budget, but I still make a point of stopping in for OX Coffee, which is delicious and, happily, roasted in Philadelphia. The Yemenite latte is another distinctive pleasure, aromatic and satisfying without feeling like a novelty created merely for attention. The staff is consistently charming, welcoming, and composed, and the team's continuity and energy suggest that people genuinely enjoy working here. When our budget allows, I will absolutely return to eat. Perhaps the clearest expression of K'Far's brilliance arrives in one memory from a cold, radiantly sunny Saturday, when "Inspector Norse" by the Norwegian producer Todd Terje comes through the speakers as the restaurant buzzes around us. The track, the worldly crowd, and the aroma from the kitchen create the elusive feeling Steve Cook and Mike Solomonov understand so well: people go out to eat because they want to feel seen and be briefly transported into a more vivid version of life. I already love K'Far and The Hoxton as separate brands, so seeing them come together at The Hoxton in Williamsburg feels like an unusually natural and exciting partnership. Creating this kind of social magnetism inside a bakery and café is a subtle achievement, and Philadelphia is richer for having a place with this much flavor, warmth, and personality.

My friend got the Bella Vista Omelet with home fries, and we both agreed that while the food was good, it felt like standard brunch fare rather than anything particularly memorable. Based on the long wait and the hype surrounding Sabrina's, I think we were expecting the food to really stand out. In my opinion, the dishes we tried were comparable to what you'd find at a quality chain brunch spot like First Watch. That's not necessarily a bad thing, the food was satisfying, but it didn't quite justify the lengthy wait. That said, the menu has plenty of more unique and creative options that we didn't try. I'd be open to coming back and ordering one of those specialty dishes next time. Overall, I left satisfied with the meal and service.
